Nutritional value of breakfast of older school-age children
Vejrostová, Květa ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Subject: Nutritional value ofbreakfast ofolder school-age children Background: The aim ofthis study is to summarize child-age obesity issue, nutrition customs and physical activities ofchildren. Author deYeloped, on the base ofspecialized publications and published works, own questionnaire. This questionnaire was applied to a group ofchildren to observe nutritional value ofbreakfast and social factors ofobesity development in older school-age children. Methods: A group of grade school children ofage 13 to 15 was assessed. In total 300 questionnaires were handed out, 229 were returned and suitable for further processing. Results: Most grade school children do eat breakfast regularly. However, in most cases composition oftheir breakfast is quite inappropriate. A large group of 13-15 year old children dislike their figure and desire to lose weight despite age-appropriate proportions. Social environmental factors did not prove to be significant in overweight and obesity development. Key words: obesity, nutrition, breakfast, physical activity, children.
Motional activity of people with elephantiasis
Štiková, Barbora ; Hošková, Blanka (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
T~pic: Motional activity of people with elephantiasis. Goal of the thesis: To evaluate and compare the impact of motional activity on elephantiasis ofarms and legs. Methods: The thesis was worked out as a case study. Sixteen patients participating at lymphodrainage filled the generic questionnaire SF-36. Six people with physical problems were observed during their regular motional activity during six months. The source ofadditional data were taken from the standard medical documentation. The data were evaluated through defmed evaluation criteria and through standard statistical methods. Rusults: The motional activity has positive impact on reduction of elephantiasis and is a part of complex treatment. The active approach of the patient is essential for the success of the whole therapy. The motional activity in a group had a very positive psychical impact on the patients. Heterogeneity of the group - with regards to the intensity and seriousness ofthe disease- stimulated itself and other people's cognition and gave impuls and motivation for the motional activity. Key words: elephantiasis, motional activity, anthropometry
Changes in blood pressure during group remedial exercise in cardiac patients
Štěpánková, Šárka ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
3 Title of the thesis: Changes in blood pressure during group remedial exercise in cardiac patiens Objektive: The aim of this thesis was to describe the changes in blood pressure during remedial exercises. Method: There were 11 females participating in the study, all of senior age and suffering cardiovascular conditions. The exercise unit was intentionally selected to suit treated cardiac patients. The blood pressure readings were taken during the one-hour exercise units at Motol Faculty Hospital. Mercury tonometers were used for the measurements and readings. Results: During the exercise, average systolic blood pressure readings ranged between 137,73 mm Hg and 183 mm Hg, (± SD 28,99) ,diastolic blood pressure ranged between 85,91 mm Hg and 100,45 mm Hg, (± SD 18,88), and pulse rate was between 69 and 77. In four of the tested subjects the systolic blood pressure exceeded 200 mm Hg during the exercise. The highest blood pressure readings were taken when lying down, after a dynamic warm-up, and during lying on the back while moving one leg vigorously. Key words: Blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, remedial exercise, measuring blood pressure.
Measurement and analysis of postural stability and movement patterns of persons after transfemoral amputation
Vyhnal, Ondřej ; Prokešová, Eva (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: Measurement and analysis of postural stability and movement patterns of persons after transfemoral amputation. Objectives: The aim of this work is to understand the compensatory mechanisms arising after femoral amputation and to find out what effect the lenght of amputation has on movement patterns in humans after transfemoral amputation and exarticulation in the knee joint. Methods: In my work I used the method of analysis and method of comparison. For the analysis of postural stability, I used standard tools: force plates (Kistler 9286A) and motion recording system (Kistler 9286A). To compare kinematic one-dimensional data, I used the technique of statistical parametric mapping, which is a generalization of classical statistical tests from scalar to one-dimensional data. 8 probands with transfemoral amputation participated in the study. Three successful attempts were recorded, at three speeds with the contact of a residual and amputated limb. The movement of the pelvis in the horizontal, sagittal, transverse planes and the time spent on a residual limb were analyzed. Results: We found that the length of amputation significantly effects postural stability and movement patterns. It was found that the shorter the amputation stump, the less stable the gait, with greater deviations in the...
Influence of epigalokatechin gallate on weight reduction - a systematic review
Janda, Marek ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Introduction: This thesis investigates the effect of isolated epigallocatechin-3-gallate on weight reduction in the adult population. An overview of Czech and foreign literature was provided on topics of obesity, the possibility of using green tea in its treatment and the positive effects of green tea on human health, followed by a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methodology: Using a three-phase systematic search strategy, published studies were searched in the Scopus database using predefined keywords. The aim of the search was to find randomized placebo-controlled studies lasting at least 8 weeks, which examined the effect of isolated EGCG in the absence of other active substances on the change of body parameters. The extracted data from the primary studies were then evaluated using meta-analysis and forest plot. As a result, a standardized mean difference with a 95 % confidence interval was calculated using a random effect model. Results: Six1 studies met the inclusion criteria, one2 of which was excluded due to insufficient evaluation in the critical appraisal of methodological quality. The remaining 5 studies provided a total sample of 325 participants who were diagnosed with a change in BMI induced by EGCG consumption. The result was a standardized average difference of -0.01, 95 % CI:...
Maintaining physical fitness and exercise adherence in healthy elderly women
Kuhnová, Barbora ; Daďová, Klára (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Author: Bc. Barbora Kuhnová Title: Maintaining physical fitness and adherence to physical activity in healthy elderly women. Objective: The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether or not the seniors that participated in the project EXODYA back in 2017 and 2018, managed to maintain the level of physical fitness and adherence to physical aktivity (PA). The secondary goal was to determine the level of current PA and also how the level of PA was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Method: This is an empirical-theoretical study with a qualitative-quantitative research design. The research group I (N=30, average age 72 ± 4,02 years) took part in a questionnaire survey that included the International Physical Activity Questionnaire IPAQ and supplementary questions about influencing PA by the pandemics, using Google form. The research group II was made by 7 women that were also part of the research group I and that took part in the EXODYA project in 2018. The testing of these women consisted of 4 items of the Senior Fitness Test, hand grip strength using a digital hand dynamometer and maximum oxygen demand based on a stress test on a bicycle ergometer. Results: Most of the senior women who participated in the EXODYA project in 2018 maintained a level of physical fitness as well as adherence to PA....
