Mapping of physiotherapy techniques terminology in scientific databases

in English This Bachelors thesis is dedicated to the major bibliographic databases in physiotherapy and mapping concepts between them. Firstly, based on the amount of important scientific journals, the most important bibliographic databases were identified and then they were analysed. That brought basic information about individual databases and about system how there are documents organised. These knowledge organisation systems were examined further with increased emphasis on concepts related to physiotherapy, especially physiotherapy techniques. Each concept was mapped across the analysed bibliographic databases and presented in a scheme, which can help to make information retrieval in those databases more efficient or as a principle for further investigation of those concepts and their relationship in medical bibliographic databases.

Factual databases in chemistry

and keywords Bachelor thesis depicts factual databses in the field of chemistry. It focuses mainly on databases that cover all fields of chemistry. The thesis presents a general definition of databases and desribes their history and typology. Examples of various factual chemical information which can be searched through chemical databases, are described and shown. The factual chemical databases CAS REGISTRY, CAS REACT, PubChem, ChemSpider and Reaxys are described in detail and compared. Additionally, examples of chemical information searches in these databases are shown. Examples of specialized chemical databses that focus on specific kind of chemical information are listed. In conclusion, the importance of factual databases in providing relevant and correct chemical information for their users is evaluated. Content checking of book collections of National technical library

The aim of this work is to describe and analyze procedures of the content checking of collections in the State Technical Library, respectively, in the National Technical Library. The content checking of collections is concerned with evaluation of the library fund from several points to achieve the best currency and usability of this special fund. Unsuitable library documents are suggested to the withdraw. Today is this activity practiced in the Department of the content checking of the library fund, where are monographs and serials separately evaluated. In this bachelor's work are different approaches to content checking and documents write off explained. There are also sketched changes in the work of the Department, planned due to expanding of the library fund for documents from libraries incorporated in future. Information Science and Librarianship in Arab Countries

The aim of this thesis is to describe current situation of information science and librarianship in Arab countries. To introduce and depict common ground, important historical moments for information science and librarianship in Arab countries will be described. Afterwards, field organizations operating in these countries will be mapped and characterized. The main part of the thesis will analyse the situation in each of twenty Arab countries. The analysis will map the most important libraries and universities, where the field of information science and librarianship is studied. Activities, tasks and aims of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO)

The bachelor thesis presents acitivities, tasks and aims of International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO). The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part describes the society today and also its history. The second part gives an overview of national chapters of ISKO and their activities. The third part discusses the ISKO presence in the Czech Republic and the fourth part examines themes of periodicals published by ISKO, namely of Knowledge Organization journal and series of conference proceedings Advances in Knowledge Organization, during years 2008 - 2012. The theme is determined using the first two levels of the Classification System for Knowledge Organization Literature and by sorting the articles and proceedings into different thematic classes. The most numerous topic in the periodicals was on-line retrieval systems and technologies.

Historical collections in memory institutions in region of Ústí nad Labem

The goal of this paper is to describe historical book collections in memory institutions in region of Ústí nad Labem. I examined the list of libraries in the region of Ústí nad Labem if there is a historical book collection. In case there was one, I describede the memory institution, its history and organization and the historical collection if it was possible. There are important definitions related to historical collections in this paper, then brief history of libraries (in the Czech state). Then there is a list of the cities in the region of Ústí nad Labem, their brief history and definition of memory institution and its collection if there was any. The list of cities is classified alphabetically and every institution has its own subhead related to the city which they are located in.

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to outline the situation of the university libraries in Finland. In the first part, there is some basic information about Finnish republic and its history or the structure of Finnish education system. It describes the organization and law of Finnish librarianship and general aspects of the university libraries. Second part is focused on selected academic libraries. The collections and services of six university libraries (University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, University of Lapland, University of Oulu, University of Tampere and University of Turku) together with The National Library of Finland are depicted. Content and structure analysis of Czech material science journals abstracts : Hutnické listy and Ceramics-Silikáty

An abstract is a reduced scholarly document crucial for relevant scientific articles and full text documents selection. Therefore abstracts should briefly and clearly represent the full text content. The aim of this research is to construct proper structure, which would be internationally as well as interdisciplinary applied, primarily within the European Union. The structure used in the research was supposed to be evaluated as the most suitable one by the experts. There were 2 material science journals (100 abstracts from each journal) selected. Those samples were analysed in freeware Weft QDA, designed for content analysis of text documents. Sample abstracts were based on the content analysis resulting data. The samples were evaluated by material science experts in the survey. The most common combination of categories in original abstracts were background, methodology and results. The repsonses of surveys pointed out, that the recommended abstract include all necessary information and exclude the redundant ones.
