Psychobiography: The role of the Oedipus complex in the life of Egon Bondy

This theoretical master thesis, based on the method of pychobiography, attempts to map the role of the Oedipus complex in the life of the important Czech poet, prosaic and philosopher Egon Bondy, also known by his civic name Zbyněk Fišer, using mainly the psychoanalytic teachings of Sigmund Freud. In the first part of the thesis, I present a biography of Bondy that I have compiled, covering the period from his childhood to the mid-1990s, using a number of sources. As of the date of submission of the thesis, no single biographical work was available, and information had to be sought in many works by other authors. On the basis of the biography I have compiled, in the second part of the text I analyse the life story of Egon Bondy, in which the Oedipus complex played a significant role, often referring to this biography. Two main paths then emerge in the story, which I further develop with the help of psychoanalysis and its terms. The aim of this thesis is thus to illuminate the possible motives for his actions, his behaviour, his relationship to himself, to others and to the world, on the basis of this analysis, which combines the Oedipus complex and the life events that have befallen Bondy over the years. The process of leaving a new religious movement and its impact on an individual's identity

The thesis deals with the issue of deconversion from the new religious movement Hare Krishna. Its aim was to find out what effect this process has on a person's identity. The thesis further explores how former members of the Hare Krishna movement view the deconversion process, what the first thoughts of leaving the movement were and under what circumstances they occurred. It has also been charted where the first steps of those who left the movement led and how their leisure activities and circle of friends changed. The thesis also looked at how former members of the Hare Krishna movement look back on their membership and what continues to make it meaningful to them. What does not make sense to them in retrospect was also taken into account. The research was conducted qualitatively using the method of thematic analysis. A total of four semi-structured interviews and five responses that were collected through an online form were analyzed. Thus, not only respondents from the Czech Republic but also from abroad were involved. The results of the analysis indicate that the identity of the respondents is changing. Folktale, dream and their connections

The dissertation discusses the similarities or even possible relatedness of folktales and dreams. The theoretical framework of this research is mainly psychoanalytical - in accordance with psychoanalytic theory, the assumption is accepted that manifestations of the unconscious can be observed in folktales, as well as in dreams. Manifest and latent content can be found in both, folktales and dreams, and therefore they can be interpreted. Some authors, such as the Hungarian folklorist G. Róheim, propose that a folktale originally comes from an individual dream, which was told by a dreamer and gradually enriched with cultural specifics. M. Kučera's theory of induction follows from this - folktales induce dreams that would have been dreamed anyway, because their content is based on child's unconscious needs and conflicts. The first part presents the theoretical basis. In the next part, a possible procedure for interpreting a folktale is shown on the folktale type ATU 510B (Princess with a Golden Star on her Forehead from B. Němcová). Anne Sexton and her transformations of fairy tales

This thesis deals with the life and work of the American poet Anne Sexton. The focus is mainly on her collection Transformations, which comprises poems that retell fairy tales originally collected by the German brothers Grimm. The first part of the thesis deals with the theoretical approaches of psychobiography and the psychology of art literature, which are employed in the analysis. The theoretical section of the work also includes a biography of Anne Sexton and a brief overview of her life's work, with a specific focus on the Transformations collection. A dedicated chapter is also devoted to the exploration of confessional poetry, as the literary genre to which Anne Sexton's work belongs. The practical part of the work consists of an analysis and interpretation of selected poems from the Transformations collection, namely the poems The Golden Key and Briar Rose. The thesis further deals with Anne Sexton's relationship with her father, and the final chapter reflects on the feminist aspects within the poet's work.

The evolution of the traitor: A psychological analysis of Emanuel Moravec personality Martin Brummer Abstract The dissertation aims to describe the personality of the World War II collaborator Emanuel Moravec. The psychobiographical study applies qualitative methods to gather and interpret the data. Secondary literature, primarily two monographs (Pernes, 1997; Vytlačil, 1993) and several other studies, constitutes the first source of data. The compiling biography of Moravec based on the analysis of the secondary sources was written and attached to the addendum of the dissertation. Books written by Moravec or transcriptions of the speeches of Moravec within the years 1918 and 1943 were the second main source of the data. The total of page of analyzed books amounts to over 4000. The investigation of sources was based on the method of desk research using selective and axial coding. As a result the main categories were established, to which following theories were applied: a) depth psychology of Donald Winnicott and Karen Horney; b) narrative analysis of Dan McAdams and Kevin Murray; c) cultural-historical activity theory of Yrjö Engeström. The theme of art and love in The Seagull

The bachelor thesis is focused on mapping the main themes of the drama by A. P. Chekhov The Seagull. The aim is to describe the intertwining of the lines of love, art and the symbol of the seagull in relation to the characters. Furthermore, the thesis takes into account the setting of the play's motifs in a broader context. In each chapter it suggests the relationality between the characters as well as their functions in the play. Analysis, compilation and comparison are used in the treatment, and the findings will be demonstrated through practical examples and quotations from the play, which will form part of the theoretical part of the thesis. The thesis also includes conceptual maps that graphically illustrate the thematic relationships between characters and themes. The thesis is based on foreign and Czech publications related to the interdisciplinary interpretation of Chekhov's drama. One of the main terminologies used is psychologist Lee's concept of the theory of love. Sylvia Plath and her work from the perspective of psychobiography

The goal of my bachelor's thesis is to analyse the relationship between Sylvia Plath's biography and her work, focusing on the so-called confidence poems, especially in the question of her relationship with her father, using the principles of psychobiography. The first part of the thesis focuses on the concepts of psychobiography as conceived by William T. Schultz and the psychology of artistic literature. The thesis also includes a brief biography of Sylvia Plath, an introduction of confessional poetry, and a short survey of the author's work. The primary sources I work with in this thesis are Plath's artwork and her journals. In this thesis I also present three different studies that have previously focused on Sylvia Plath's work and life. For the purpose of this thesis, I have chosen the poem Daddy, one of Sylvia Plath's most famous poems, which I discuss and analyse in detail in the thesis. I will interpret the findings psychologically, primarily using a psychoanalytic perspective. Finally, I compare my findings with the biography of the subject under study.
