State transformation in postcolonial Mozambique

The case of "State Transformation in Postcolonial Mozambique" is set into the context of African postcolonial state research in the introductory part of the thesis. The concepts of africanists Mahmood Mamdani, Patrick Chabal and Jean François Bayart are presented and used as an conceptual framework for the analysis of the postcolonial state in Mozambique. The origin and development of the postcolonial state in Mozambique is analysed in the wider historical context. The pre-colonial political systems in Mozambique are presented, as well as the first contacts between the pre-colonial Mozambique and the Portuguese and the establishment of the Portuguese presence. The description of the formation and consolidation of the colonial state includes the issue of colonial border demarcation, conquest of the territory and establishment of the colonial administration. The Mozambican independence struggle is analysed as well as its impact on the colonial administration. The development of the leading force of the struggle, the FRELIMO party, is analysed including its origin in the union of three nationalist movements, its internal disputes and divisions and its gradual radicalisation. The elements of Mudejar art

The Mudejar Art means the art of mudejars ( muslims who lived under the dominion of Christians), of moriscos (muslims which were forced to accept the baptism, but which staied secretly practising lslam) and ofthe other ethnic or religious groups which used their technics. Because it is realized outside of the lands of lslam, it is usually associated to the elements of the other religions and traditions and to their buildings. The Mudejar Art is limited to the Pyrenean Peninsula (Spain, Portugal) and their former colonies. The Spanish and French historians of art tended frequently to doubt about the Mudejar Art and his existence like independent style, the same name of this style was disputed and the other better was been looking for unsuccessefully. Maybe it was also because of the fragmentation total of the Mudejar Art, which in every area (Castile and León, Aragon, Toledo, Andalusia, the eastern zone etc.) has his specific character. Four materials have been considereted like typically mudejars (brick, wood, gypsum, ceramics). This definition, which was been accepted in the III. lnternational Symposy of Mudejarismo in Teruel, was in the first two cases doubted by Phi1ippe Araguas and Nuere Matauco, like his al1eged economicity. The purpose behind this research was to explore the ideological transformation and organizational development of two of the main Islamic groups in the USA - the political Islam (also called Islamism/lslamic movement) brought to the country by immigrants and the homegrown Islamic movement of African-American Islam. It also aimed to shed some light on the contacts and support that Islamic organizations in the US enjoy abroad and the roles played by international Islamic organizations in the growth of the Islamic presence in the US - institution building and development of the Islamic infrastructure (mosques, Islamic center, schools). Bejas - history, society and culture

A history of the Beja tribes goes back to the antiquity. The Beja nation represents o ne of the oldest known African nations. Exploring foreign countries and nations, was mainly for Greek historians, connected with several problems. Strange civilizations were described in more or less unreal colours, as for example headless or without other parts of the body. The change in viewing "the others" came in the Middle Ages thanks to Arab scholars to whom we are obliged for their valuable information about the Beja tribes. Unfortunately, we do not have a rich information base from the ancient times. We can get some information from the rock inscriptions, but there are only few relevant sources describing the Beja tribes. Especially Cerman speaking travelers and scholars of the 19th century play an important role in learning about the Beja. Their records can help us to look at their history and to know a bit from their everyday life. From the 20th century we have a lack of records and direct resources. That is the reason why reconstruction of the modern Beja history can be difficult. ft is surely interesting to consider how the view of the Beja was changing throughout the times. Treatment of personal status in jurisdictions of selected Arab states

In my dissertation thesis I tried to explicate the fundamental institutes of Islamic family law, according to modern and contemporary legislation in a number of Arab states. The family law is fairly exhaustively treated in the sacred book of Muslims, in Koran, albeit in a number of scattered passages, mostly in suras from Medinese period. These passages are defined with more precision by the prestigeous method of the interpretation of Koran, with so called taj<;ir and thanks to collected statements of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, constituting the tradition, so called swma. And the modern and contemporary legislation is based rigid on it with some westernized elements. After a brief acquaintance comprehension of the personal statute in contemporary Near Eastern countries is described in detail. The next chapter contains the description of the sense of marriage in Islamic law in three aspects- legal, social and religious. It is a contract of civil law concluded by the bridegroom with the legal guardian of the bride, so called wali.After this I continue through the short characterization of conditions of the conclusion of the marriage, for example form and capacity, limitations to marry any person of the opposite sex, special time period cidda ... Islam in the society of Ferghana valley during the tsarist and Soviet governments

Tématem disertační práce se stala analýza vývoje islámu ve společnosti Ferganské doliny za carského a sovětského režimu. Cílem práce je odpovědět na otázku, jakou roli hrál islám v místní společnosti po více než sto letech ruské nadvlády a jaký význam měl v chápání jednotlivců a jejich jednání v rámci vztahů v rodině a místní komunitě. Práce si také klade za cíl podnítit nový metodologický přístup k problematice islámu ve Střední Asii za carské a sovětské vlády a ukázat, že pro pochopení vývoje v oblasti je potřeba analyzovat nejen politiku vůči islámu, ale i společenské a hospodářské změny a jejich vliv na místní muslimskou komunitu. Záměrem práce je rovněž v českém a mezinárodním kontextu přispět ke kvalitnějšímu výzkumu vývoje islámu v současné Střední Asii, pro nějž je zasazení do historického kontextu zásadní. Za předmět analýzy byla vybrána Ferganská dolina, jedno z center islámu v oblasti Střední Asie. Toto téměř souvisle osídlené úrodné údolí poskytuje jedinečnou možnost analyzovat vliv carské a především sovětské politiky na příkladu oblasti, kde hrála místní muslimská komunita po staletí zásadní roli nejen v náboženském, ale i ve společenském a hospodářském životě. Angola from liberation struggle to present days

Tato diplomová práce na téma ,,Angola od osvobozeneckých bojů do současnosti" vznikala na základě dlouhodobého bádaní během studia magisterského programu. Některé části kapitol vznikaly v rámci seminárních prácí, ať už pro obor afrikanistika nebo pro obor portugalština. Ačkoli existuje rozsáhlá literatura v češtině, bylo pro tuto práci velmi užitečné studium zahraniční literatury, především v anglickém, francouzském a portugalském jazyce. Dále pak mnoho článků, které existují pouze v online formě jako například statistiky. Ke sběru materiálu jsem také využil svůj jednoroční pobyt v Portugalsku a mnoho cest do Paříže. Práce se skládá ze šesti kapitol, které jsou rozvržené v chronologickém sledu. Před zavedením čtenáře do bojů o osvobození se v prvních dvou kapitolách autor rozhodl věnovat reáliím Angoly a etnolingvistivcké skladbě angolského teritoria. Už zde v této posledně zmíněné kapitole se autor setkal s potížemi, které existují při zmapování etnických a lingvistických skupin v Angole. Většina publikací je zastaralá a pochází ještě z doby, kdy byla portugalská správa. Názvy jsou pro dnešního badatele označeny pejorativně a mapy jsou z 60-70. letech minulého století. Mapy nekopírují řadu migrací, které byly po tomto období nejsilnější. Tato kapitola je tedy psána nejen na základě nejnovějších publikací...
