The goal of this work is to analyze and compare the instruments of social and family policy in supporting of young families in each generation, before and after 1989, to determine how different is the current situation of young people in starting a family from the situation that had generation of our parents. For a better approach to the circumstances and conditions in both generations of the family serves the subjective view of 12 respondents, who were in a situation of forming a family before 1989, or those, who solve this situation currently. Work-family balance as a problem of social policy
Duškov, Ivan ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Kotrusová, Miriam (referee)
The submitted text represents updated and extended version of my MA thesis "Work-Family balance: Solving Dilemma". The main objective of this paper is to present the results of empirical research and analyses of causes and consequences which affect and disturb straight-through connection between work (e.g. paid job) and family responsibilities (especially childcare). In the theoretical part of this paper was used a theory of the welfare state, the equal opportunity theory (especially between men and women) and the concept of human potential. Culture and gender stereotypes are probably the most considerable causes of difficult reconciling work and family duties. Some of the EU member states altogether with the Czech Republic are still keeping so-called breadwinner model, which maintain traditional status between women and men in the society. According to this model women are mainly responsible for childbearing, childcare and household keeping while men should care about economical aspect of family life. An analysis has shown close-knit connection between type of welfare state, welfare state policies and relevant implications on the field of work-family balance and quality of life. Liberal, Traditional and Latin type of welfare state are characterized by low rate of women employment, gender inequality, low...
Local family policy
Hošková, Alžběta ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Dobiášová, Karolína (referee)
Diploma thesis Local Family Policy deals with family support provided by municipalities and other institutions on the local level. The thesis is based on the assumption that in the society there should be a family-friendly environment, which supports them and appreciates their effort. The local level of local family policy is very important for creating such an environment. Next assumption of the thesis is that policy measures take effects not only instrumentally, but great parts of their effect are also symbolical messages sent towards target groups. The thesis focuses on a quick analysis of stakeholders, who intervene into local family policies, describes main activities of municipalities in the field of family policy, identifies the best practice models and analyses existing barriers. In the next part follows an assessment of local family policy from the view of characteristics of a good local family policy, on which most of the experts agree on. Documents, semi structured and informal interviews and involved observation were used as data source for this thesis. Even though the thesis is a qualitative study, and therefore it does not present general conclusions valid for all the municipalities in the Czech Republic, it brings a contribution for its new perspective on this barely explored issue....

Fárová, Věra ; Čabanová, Bohumila (advisor) ; Kotrusová, Miriam (referee)
This thesis deals with problems of financing social service and with using care allowance as an instrument of social policy. The need for affordable and quality social services for the elderly results from prognosis of the demographic trends of aging population and it is always of interest to social policy that tincludes new tools in addressing social protection to people who depend on additional care. Determination of the public policy problem is based on a study and an analysis of available data, referring to the finding that the care allowance is not (as opposed to the intention of the law), used sufficiently as one of the sources of financing social service providers. My thesis is based on findings, which brings a theory of social inclusions as the prevention of a social exclusion of people because of a reduced self-sufficiency and a theory of a quality of life under which is necessary to ensure individual's everyday needs; later it focuses on a concept of a social protection of people in important public policy documents. The research deals with fundamental changes in the concept of the care allowance under the law No. 108/2006 Coll. on social services and the impact of these changes on the recipients of care, informal care providers and institutional social services. It analyzes public records and...

At first, the thesis determines the theoretical concepts, which it comes from. Those concepts go through the whole thesis. Zaschkeová, Soňa ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Kotíková, Jaromíra (referee)
Long-term unemployment brings negative consequences for the state and individuals. Besides the financial impacts on the state (lower incomes, expenditures for social transfers), for the long-term unemployed people from the social and psychological perspective this is a reduction in living standards, loss of social status, skills and abilities decline, decrease of social contacts, etc. Unemployed persons have not got income from their own economic aktivity, and that is why they are provided with social benefits in material need in the frame of the system of social protection.Their long-term receiving, however, often leads to the trap of poverty and welfare dependency. Employment agencies strive for return of these people back to the labour market through thein instruments of active employment policy. This thesis is focused on public service, which was introduced to the system of poverty relief in 2009 as the motivation and penalty measures to increase the activity of long-term unemployed. The theoretical starting points of this study are findings on poverty, social exclusion, living wage. The empirical section is dedicated to the analysis of public service as an instrument of the social policy, in particular it is then focused on its activation component. The research design of the work is a case...

This thesis deals with the problem of unemployed people aged 18 to 24 in the district of Sokolov. This group of people represents the highest amount of unemployed people in the district of Sokolov. An integral part of my thesis is an analysis of the labour market in the district of Sokolov. The consecutive analysis of the instrumets used in the active employment-politics in the district of Sokolov gives answer to the question whether all the available instrumets for the active employment-politics are used in the district of Sokolov. To get the whole picture of the problem, employees of the Labour Office of Sokolov and of the Department of Social Help in Material Need of the Municipal Office of Sokolov were questioned.
