Iranian Azerbaijanis: A Threat for the stability of the Iranian regime?
Kolářová, Michaela ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Horák, Slavomír (referee)
Azerbaijanis constitute the largest minority living in Iran. They are concentrated in three northern provinces of Iran on the borders with the Republic of Azerbaijan. The very fact sets up a strong potential for separatism on the part of Iranian Azerbaijanis. Therefore, the main objective of the paper is to analyze to what extent Iranian Azerbaijanis possess a sense of collective identity, either national or ethnic. The paper also explores to what degree this collective identity evokes separatist tendencies among Iranian Azerbaijanis or whether the Iranian regime's fear of Azerbaijani irredentism is justified. The paper comes to the conclusion that Azerbaijanis in Iran indeed have an awareness of collective identity based on their ethnic origin which dissociates them from the Persian majority. In the past few years, they have started to speak out and demand cultural emancipation, most of all to be allowed to study in their own language. Although Iranian Azerbaijanis have political demands, they primarily seek for their minority rights, perhaps even autonomy but there are no indicators so far that they strive for secession from the Iranian state. Nothing implies that Iranian Azerbaijanis wish to establish an independent state of their own or accede to the Republic of Azerbaijan. Nevertheless, this...

The research questions were focused on social worker activity in low-treshold facilities for children and youth in a process of socialization, together with increasing awareness of provided service and users structure. Qualitative research - the method of polling and the technique of a semi-controlled interview had been used in the practical part of the bachelor thesis. On the basis of deliberate qualified selection, a total of 5 low-threshold facilities for children and youth in the South Bohemian Region were selected using social service providers register by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. The research file consisted of 13 social workers from individual facilities. The processes of categorization of data were used for the subsequent processing of the obtained data. The research shows that the main activity of social worker in the process of socialization lay in development of meaningful spare time activities. These activities have been considered by some communication partners as a subject of strengthening of mutual relationships between the children of the same age, as most of them face insufficient user cooperation in these activities. Communication partners encounter an inadequate approach educators and same age children in relation to the school environment, especially towards individuals from a socially disadvantaged environment. They often encounter bullying, boxing and discrimination against Roma children. For most communication partners are also very important intervention interviews, which thanks to gained confidence help users to find solution alternatives of problem situations. Communication partners often speak about missing examples in families and also unsatisfactory support in education. That is why they help in the socialization process to develop basic society norms of the users and also focus on the sphere of education, even in most of the facilities extra lessons are not very popular there. Mostly all communication partners feel positive change in users behaviour as a result of their visits in the facilities. Communication partners most often encounter users by changing their access to education and adopting standards of social behaviour. Also, the acquisition of hygienic habits, recognition of authorities and job findings are perceived by some communication partners, when working with users, as success. Some of them consider the changes only short-term. Working with users is often being impacted by negative approach of family, which does not sufficiently support the activities of this facility. The bachelor thesis can bring benefit not only to social workers in low-threshold facilities for children and youth, but also to volunteers, who work with children in their free time. One of the others, who can use this work, are schools, that could focus more on supporting individuals from a socially disadvantaged environment and establish cooperation with low-threshold facilities, especially in the area of bullying and peer relationship issues, to which users are often exposed to. This work can serve as a general public's knowledge that working with this target group is primarily a common interest in reducing the incidence of socially undesirable phenomena.

The Concept of Martyrdom in Islam and Its (Re)interpretations in Current Islamic Movements
Kolářová, Michaela ; Lyčka, Milan (advisor) ; Beránek, Ondřej (referee)
The main focus of the thesis is the concept of jihad and martyrdom in Islam. It seeks to present these religious ideas from very diverse perspectives and argues that seemingly discontinuous dimensions are all parts of the nature of the phenomenon. In the world of Islam, religion is an omnipresent aspect of a public life. Hence, the historical experience, culture, socio-economics, and politics, they all manifest in religious narratives. Martyrdom embodies these complexities as well. Historically and culturally, martyrdom has been perceived as an expression of utmost activism in the struggle of a believer for the betterment of the Islamic society. Leading a responsible and truthful life sometimes demands the ultimate sacrifice of one's life for the cause. This worldly responsibility for the well-being of the Islamic umma is one dimension of complex dynamics of the Islamist movements like the Palestinian Hamas. For them, martyrdom is only one moment, the climax, which requires leading the whole life as a responsible believer in the first place. In this sense, martyrdom is a celebration of a meaningful life rather than death. This commitment of Hamas to the community, its radical understanding of the politics of the struggle, along with the particular socio-economic, and political situation in...
