Davydenko, Polina ; Kohout, Martin (referee) ; Gravlejs, Ivars (advisor)

I have created a set of images from which viewer can read several meanings, thanks to the overall absence of narration and text. Kohout, Martin ; Soukup, Ladislav (advisor) ; Rákosník, Jakub (referee) ; Vojáček, Ladislav (referee)
This dissertation deals with the topic of development of Czechoslovak press law during the First Republic, primarily through the legislative process of press law or of legislation related to press law, adopted by the National Assembly of the First Republic, and also by the impact that adopted legislation, and in particular the Act on Protection of the Republic in 1923 and amendments of press law in 1924, had on the rulings of the Supreme Court during the First Republic. It takes a comprehensive look at the development of press law during the First Republic based on the one hand on legislation carried over from Austro-Hungarian and later amended, and on the other hand on new legislation adopted during the First Republic. The study also analyses the common features of the legislative process of individual press regulations and at least in part the role of the Supreme Court in the interpreting of valid law.
Why Did Voucher Privatization Occur?
Kohout, Martin ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor) ; Vlček, Josef (referee)
In this paper I try to analyze all circumstances and threads that led to voucher privatization. I try to analyze factual historical events like for example certain motions in the Civic Forum (Czech: Občanské fórum) within the frame of corporate processes. I observe the shift of power between the majority of citizens and elite and question the legitimity of decisions the leaders of the revolutionary movements make. The power shifting from an individual onto the society served me as an indicator for searching the relations that could had led to the voucher privatization. I try to understand the circle of disidents around Václav Havel and the circle of reformists around Václav Klaus from the sociological perspective and try to apprehend these from tin the light of their organization and opinion coherence. Ideological data of these two groups are compared with the meaning of the public; moreover, I do not restrict myself just to the time after the revolution. I pay attention also to the pre - revolutionary roots of certain social circumstances that influenced the public. I try to find the continuity between the time before the revolution, during the revolution and after the revolution. Naturally it made sense to allude often examples from the history of revolutionary movements. I analyzed the rhetoric...
THE IMAGE OF DISSIDENT IN CZECH DOCUMENTARY FILM AFTER 1989
Kohout, Martin ; VACHEK, Karel (advisor) ; HENDRICH, Vladimír (referee)
The work is attempting to describe the mental image of a dissident, the way it was most oftenly interpreted in the post Velvet revolution period films known to the public or regularly shown on the televion screens. For this purpose was chosen 53 films, which were devided according to their general interpretation and impression. I followed with an analyzation of the montage and bulding elements, that are used in these films, most oftenly shaping the opinion of the general public. The interpretations and contents of these films were compared to the results of the social-sientific research on the nature of normalization period and the dissent. Also these generally popular films were compared with the works standing outside of the mainstream documentary film, about the topic of dissent or previous regime in general. This theses is therefore refering to the problems of interpretation of the previous regime, normalization and the role of dissent in czech society.

Kohout, Martin ; VACHEK, Karel (advisor) ; ŘEZNÍČEK, Martin (referee)
This Bachelor thesis compares ways of elimination which was described by Michel Foucault with ways of elimination in documentary. There are three basic types: taboo of subject, ritual of circumstance and privileged or special right of subject. Documentary like subject of discourse has been meant only in generally. Core of thesis is the way of production documentary. Process of shooting and editing explores how documentary can eliminate (when you show something- you must hide something). Documentary use different ways of elimination than discourse because is based on coincidence and shots which are based on reality (not in the structure of language). Documentary is restricted by society understanding term "documentary" it is simultaneously basic condition for its existence.
