Causes of failure of the Free Democratic Party (Freie Demokratische Partei) in the 2013 federal election to Bundestag
Kuklíková, Barbora ; Kačmárová, Pavla (advisor) ; Handl, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis deals with the reasons of the failure of Freie Demokratische Partei in 2013 federal election. With the gain of only 4,8 % votes, it didn't pass the 5% threshold for entering Bundestag for the first time since its establishment in 1948. The theoretical part focuses on the beginning and development of liberalism and especially German ordoliberalism, which transformed into the social market economy after the World War II and became an important aspect of German Wirtschaftswunder. The concept of social market economy was adopted by the newly established FDP. The analytical part first compares FDP's 2009 and 2013 election programmes regarding the adherence to social market principles, it then summarizes the problems and FDP's failures, which occurred during the 2009-2013 legislative period, the personal crisis in the party's leadership and also shortly considers the influence of European financial crisis on the voters' decisions in context of the establishment of the strongly euro-sceptical party Alternative für Deutschland in February 2013.

During the eastern enlargement of the EU four emerging countries of the Visegrád Group - Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary - joined the community of European states. This significant event notably affected not only the transformation process in the countries mentioned above but also their relations with the EU member states. The aim of this master thesis is to research the impact of the eastern enlargement of the EU on economic relations between C.E. countries and Germany, and to answer the question whether the EU accession was the main decisive factor for the dynamic development of economic cooperation between the above mentioned states. The analysis of economic relations focuses on two key dimensions: trade relations and direct investment. The government's policy of supporting the investment activities both in Germany and C.E. countries is also taken into account. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first chapter intends to analyze the integration process of the C.E. countries in the '90s and its influence on the dynamic development of the economic cooperation between Germany and Visegrád Group. The second section deals with the theoretical aspects of international trade and foreign direct investment. This part intends to provide comparative criteria that will help in answering...

Novotný, Ondřej ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kačmárová, Pavla (referee)
The thesis is focused on a company transition from a centrally planned economy to a market-oriented economy. It attempts to illustrate the example of German company Carl Zeiss (Jena), which was after World War II divided into two new companies - eastern VEB Carl Zeiss Jena and western Carl Zeiss Oberkochen. After the fall of the Berlin Wall were both companies reunified. Due to the large differences in the economic environment from which both companies came, it was a very difficult process that lasted almost until the beginning of the second half of the 90s. Like most of the former East German corporate sector, the Jena factory found itself in a crisis. Jena hoped, however, that it will gain support from the western brother in Oberkochen. However, due to inherent problems of Oberkochen and excessive production structure of Jena could Western counterpart assume take over only a small part of the eastern company. Through the privatization, which was in charge of the Treuhandanstalt, paradoxically another partition of the factory in Jena occurred. From everything that was not assumed by Oberkochen, was founded the company Jenoptik. The aim of the study is to determine, if the two companies have survived the transformation, also to which extent can their transformation be described as a successful one...
