Lithofacies and cyclic pattern of the upper part of the Poruba Member (Serpukhovian) in the eastern part of the Ostrava-Karviná coalfield
Michlová, Nikol ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Jirásek, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis studies lithofacies and cyclic pattern of about 200 m thick upper part of the Poruba Member (Serpukhovian) in the Karviná area of the Ostrava-Karviná coalfield. The objective of this thesis is to identify laterally persistent cycles from the local ones by the set of cross-sections and to better understand their formation, especially the role of glacio- eustatic sea level changes. Set of cross-sections constructed from boreholes were used for this study. The three genetic cycles were identified in the thesis based on previous studies of Gastaldo et al. (2009). From base to top the cycles are the (i) Max, (ii) Otakar a (iii) Gaebler. Their thickness fluctuates between 19.9 and 109.9 meters. The genetic cycles are bounded, with one exception, by a transgressive erosional surface of important faunal marine bands. From the set of cross-sections and maps of thickness and sand content (%), constructed for individual genetic cycles, it is obvious that the area of maximum thickness corresponds to area of increased content of medium- and coarse-grained sandstone. Maxima of sand content and thicknesses follow NNE-SSW direction, which is in agreement with basin axis. These maxima are interpreted as areas occupied by fluvial channels that are responsible for deposition of coarse- grained...

New modified method of neonatal cleft lip surgery
Borský, Jiří ; Peterka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Jirásek, Jan Evangelista (referee) ; Měšťák, Jan (referee)
2 2. Abstract Cleft palate is one of the most frequent congenital malformations. The complexity of these conditions requires surgical treatment in several stages. The first stage includes reconstruction of the nose and the lip, and timing is either shortly after birth, or, in about two thirds of centers worldwide this surgery is performed at the age of 3 months. The next stage, palate defect repair, is timed at around 9 months of age, and the final reconstruction of the maxilla is done based on the permanent canine eruption at about 8 years of age. The main objective of our study was to estimate the pros and cons of early surgical approach after introducing a novel modified surgical protocol versus the conventional surgical protocol. The 5 main findings include: 1. A novel surgical procedure to repair neonatal cleft lip was developed, incorporating modification of Tennison protocol by adding flaps acquired from the margins of the cleft. An important contribution is a shorter time both under anesthesia and in the theatre, and resulting reduction of hospital stay from 7-8 days down to 3-4 days. 2. We have compared the biochemical parameters of the surgical wound healing - matrix metaloproteases (MMP) and their inhibitors (TIMP) in the group of children having surgery early in neonatal age and in children...
Direct democracy in the Czech republic
Pechanec, Pavel ; Pavlíček, Václav (advisor) ; Sládeček, Vladimír (referee) ; Jirásek, Jiří (referee)
The main topic of the presented dissertation is the direct democracy and its legal institutions incorporated in the legal order of the Czech Republic. The first part of the dissertation is dedicated to the democracy as a government form and to the historical breakthroughs in its development. The key historical milestones on the way from despotism, through the Athen democracy, followed by long period of democratic deficit, up to the renaissance of democracy during bloody revolutions are mentioned as well. Further attention is paid to the representative and direct democracy, their mutual compatibility and definition of basic elements within both conceptions. The second part is referred to the direct democracy legal institutions in the legal order of the Czech Republic. Historical commentary is followed by general interpretation de lege lata. The direct democracy legal institutions are pursued from the year 1918 to the present. Merely commentary on the petition law goes deeper into history. Within recent legislation it is being proceeded from larger to smaller (a maiori ad minus). Our attention is in the first instance focused on the direct democracy legal institutions in the constitutional order of the Czech republic. Subsequently, their implementation in so called "common legislation" is described,...
Compatriots and the so-called compatriots law in Central Europe
Halász, Ivan ; Pavlíček, Václav (advisor) ; Jirásek, Jiří (referee) ; Mikule, Leoš (referee)
1 Compatriots and the so-called compatriots laws in Central Europe Abstract Dr. Ivan Halász The main goal of this publication is to present the development of the compatriots issue in Central Europe. In this meaning Central Europe includes the so-called Visegrad part of this region: the territory of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. The thesis is dealing with the Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak compatriots living abroad and with their relationships with kin-states. The book is not covering all aspects of this complicated problem, but it is dealing only with the legal and administrative aspects of the issue of compatriots. It analyses the process of establishing the legislation of compatriots and also its development. The main goal of this legislation is the kin- state support for the compatriots communities living abroad. The dissertation focusis on the compatriots issue from the institutional point of view (which institutions deal with this problem and who is representing their interests in the kin-state?) Naturally, the introduction starts with terminology clarifications. Who is the compatriot, what are the differencies between the compatriots, emigrants, expatriots etc. How can we interpret this notion in the Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Slovak national context? What are the...

Jirásek, Jozef ; Brom, Cyril (advisor) ; Lukavský, Jiří (referee)
In this work we present an application for observing and recording data about movements of a human eye when looking at a computer screen. We use two commercially available devices: I4Control by Medicton Group Ltd. and TrackIR 4 by NaturalPoint. We build a software package which interfaces with the SpaNav system for cognitive research. We also provide an extensible framework for creating other eye tracking applications.
Study of the Function of Reproductive Barriers for Use in Vivo and in Vitro Models
Pospěchová, Kateřina ; Semecký, Vladimír (advisor) ; Jirásek, Jan Evangelista (referee) ; Stingl, Josef (referee)
Summary: The main limiting factor of distribution of the drugs in the body is the presence of physiological barriers. Placental and blood-testis-barrier are two barriers that were studied in this thesis. The placenta is an important endocrine organ bringing maternal and fetal blood into proximity, allowing exchange of nutrients and waste products. In addition, the placenta acts as the barrier between the mother and fetus, and plays an important role in fetal protection. The key rate-limiting layer in the placenta is the single layer of syncytiotrophoblast. The placental trophoblast contains multiple drug transporters and metabolizing enzymes that control maternofetal exchange of nutrients and hormones, or which form placental "metabolic" barrier. Moreover, several members of the nuclear receptor superfamily are expressed in placental trophoblasts. They regulate transcription of the genes involved in nutrient transport, mineral metabolism, proliferation and differentiation. Moreover it was suggested that they control expression of placental drug transporters and xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes. Germ cells in the testis are protected mainly by the presence of blood testis barrier, formed by the tight or adherens junctions between Sertoli cells. Moreover, intercellular junctions between Sertoli and germ cells...
Historical water systems in Krušné hory mountains
Jirásek, Jan ; Vaněk, Jindřich (advisor) ; Fedurcová, Alena (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis was focused on mapping the historical water systems, related to mining activities occurring, in the territory of the Czech part of Montanregion Krušné hory - Erzgebirge. These mining water management systems were characterized in the literary part of the work, as well as the historical development of their surroundings. Further it has been described water-lifting equipment powered by water which was fed these with systems. All described systems belonged to the four historical mining district. These were Jáchymov, Horní Blatná, Hřebečná and Přebuz. Mapping was done in the field using a GPS device. Coordinates which was collected in the course of fieldwork, were exported to the Geographical Information System (GIS) and with that took subsequent processing. The result of the work were map outputs. Maps were made at a scale of 1:10,000.
