A study of the compressibility and properties of tablets from co-processed dry binders composed of two types of lactose and glyceryl monostearate.
Holubová, Kateřina ; Mužíková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šnejdrová, Eva (referee)
The thesis evaluated and compared the strength and disintegration time of tablets and the energy profile of compression in dependence on compression force in the co-processed dry binders LubriTose™ SD and LubriTose™ AN. These substances were further compared in these parameters with the physical mixtures of the pertinent lactoses with various lubricants in a concentration of 2 % and 4 %. The lubricants employed included glycerol monostearate, magnesium stearate, poloxamer 407, and sodium stearylfumarate. LubriTose™ AN yielded stronger tablets with a longer disintegration time, lower values of total energy and lower plasticity than LubriTose™ SD. The tablets made of LubriTose™ SD possessed the same strength as the tablets made of a physical mixture of spray-dried lactose with 4 % of poloxamer 407, but a higher one than those made of a mixture of lactose with of 4 % glycerol monostearate, and their disintegration time was longer, excepting the tablets made of a mixture with 4 % of magnesium stearate. The tablets made of LubriTose™ AN possessed the same strength and a longer disintegration time than the tablets made of a physical mixture of anhydrous lactose with 4 % of glycerol monostearate, and their disintegration time was identical with that of the tablets made of a physical mixture of the...
The Social situation of foreigners in the city of Prague
Holubová, Kateřina ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Podaná, Zuzana (referee)
Prague is a city with a high concentration of foreigners from various countries who live here and are faced with many social problems. Non-contractual obligations in private international law
Holubová, Kateřina ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Dobiáš, Petr (referee)
Non-Contractual Obligations in Private International Law This thesis deals with non-contractual obligations in private international law. The most important law in this area is the Rome II Regulation on the law applicable to non-contractual obligations that applies since 11 January 2009. The Regulation creates a common regime of conflict of law rules for most civil and commercial non-contractual obligations. The general rule is the law of the place of injury (lex loci damni). The rule is subject to two exceptions, the common habitual residence exception and a general escape clause based on the closer connection principle. Special rules are laid down for some non-contractual obligations, such as product liability, unfair competition and acts restricting free competition, environmental damages, infringement of intellectual property rights, unjust enrichment, negotiorum gestio and culpa in contrahendo. However, in most cases, the parties may agree on the law applicable to the non- contractual obligations between them. Post-tort agreements may be made between all parties whereas pre-tort agreements are allowed only where all the parties are pursuing commercial activity. Where the Rome II Regulation does not apply the courts will look to the relevant national legislation, which is the Private...
Relationships between functional traits, home range sizes, and dispersal abilities in birds
Holubová, Kateřina ; Storch, David (advisor) ; Sedláček, Ondřej (referee)
Avian movements through the landscape involving dispersal and routine movements within home-range or territory are one of the basic but due to a high mobility of birds also one of the least understood processes of bird ecology, especially on the interspecific level. Not only is dispersal a fundamental mechanism of species' spreading into new areas, but also, together with home-range size, it shows the scale on which species perceive the landscape and how they can deal with habitat changes. Dispersal ability, represented by dispersal distances, is determined by a few species specific traits like body size, migratory status, wing and bill morphology, diet type, preferred habitat type or some life-history traits. On the contrary, home-range size variability is determined primarily by energetic demands of the species, given by its body size and trophic level, and by the productivity of the environment. There is a positive relationship between home-range size or territory size, respectively, and dispersal distances of birds that can be attributed to species vagility or their spatial requirements determined especially by their food preference. Nevertheless, further research mainly on interspecific level is necessary for a deeper insight into this issue.
