Kočová, Veronika ; Hník, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zimová, Lucie (referee)
The possible approach towards the teaching of literature at the 9th grade level of primary education is the central topic of this thesis. The main idea is to base literature teaching on a system of working sheets, which relate to extracts from 4 selected books. These books have a common theme; real-life situations relevant to students of the 9th grade. Such theme has been preselected on the author's perception that students are becoming less in contact with the literary world, thus seeking a path to bring students closer to it. The goal is to show pupils the relevance and practical use of literature, with the use of diverse tasks and assignments and to convince them that reading may be entertaining as well as educating. A specific characteristic of the thesis is the fact that the research has been carried out in a given classroom at one of Prague's primary schools, where the author teaches Czech Language and Literature. Therefore, a key element of the thesis is the discussion of first hand findings and lessons-learned during these lessons. On the basis of the working sheet system trial results in class, this method proves to be efficient. Students reacted positively to the learning system and the text excerpts allowed them to complete literary tasks and also to discuss the described real-life situations...

I find inspiration in both existing and potential procedures. The work helps in orientation in connections of three educations, makes clear how each education helps the other two and how they in pupil`s natural communication and reading belong together. The work considers possibilities and benefits and identifies demands, which such integrating conception and procedures make on teachers and pupils. In the theoretical part the thesis analyses conception and relation of the three educations in Framework Education Programme (RVP) and explores how differently they are understood and used at some schools and by some teachers. The practical part presents semi- structured interviews with the school representatives. The goal of this was creating an exploratory probe, which reveals how realistic are the proposed outcome and lesson changes. The probe also shows desired changes with teachers and the project itself. Finally, the work proposes initial...

This thesis focuses on the exploration and interpretation of publishing strategies used by local Czech publishing companies concerning children's literature. This thesis offers techniques and methods used by publishers in order to increase sales. These strategies are particularly applied in a book promotion and their web site's presentation. A variety of different publishing companies were chosen for the purpose of research and comparison. The publishing company Baobab presents an alternative publisher and is considered an elite due to many book awards it has received. It focuses mainly on the incorporation of literary and visual aspects of the book creating a whole artwork. Publishing company Albatros with a reputation of a first-rate publisher during the pre-revolution era. Its children's production is still high-rated despite its economic transformation in the last twenty years. And finally a purely commercial publishing house Knižní klub which does not specialize in children's literature but tries to offer the widest range of books. Even though every publisher follows the same aim to distribute a book to a reader, each finds its own way to achieve the goal, which is very much evident in their strategies. The Baobab tries to publish an art book, which enriches young readers contrary to Knižní...

Smudková, Tereza ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Hník, Ondřej (referee)
RESUMÉ In the theoretical part, the thesis Analysis of the public libraries' concepts to support development of reading of pupils at lower secondary school characterizes the period of pubescence (11-15 years) and looks for factors that have an impact on reading of these pupils. Apart from school there is another institution that can positively affect the attitude to reading of pupils and this institution is the library. We wondered how libraries define the children's department within the library, what services are offered to children who read and what events to encourage reading they take part in. In the practical part we focused on specific training programmes that libraries offer to schools free of charge and we tried to find out whether these programmes are beneficial or not for these pupils. We conducted observations of several lessons in three libraries, we were talking with librarians about their work and about the creation of these programmes and based on that we have put together ten points - how to recognize a quality program. The aim of this thesis was to provide insight into this issue and to show that cooperation between the two institutions brings benefit to all parties involved.
