Technostress Creators and their Relations to Technostress Inhibitors when Working Remotely
Mihalko, Martin ; Šípová, Ivana (advisor) ; Höschlová, Eva (referee)
5 Abstract In recent years, information and communication technology have become an increasingly integral part of almost everyone's work. The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has accelerated to some extent the implementation of digital technologies that employees have not used before in such large scale and to which they have had to adapt. The number of employees working in various forms of teleworking has also increased. In addition to the positive effects in the form of increasing work efficiency, employee flexibility and facilitation of communication between international teams, the usage of information and communication technology is associated with a negative aspect in the form of technostress. This thesis deals with the relationship between different ways of work organization and technostress creators and the relationship between technostress creators and technostress inhibiting factors on employees who work with information and communication technology. It focuses also on intergroup differences in terms of technostress. The data were obtained through an online self-assessment questionnaire which was distributed through social networks 11 months after the spread of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic. The questionnaire consisted of the Technostress Creators Inventory (Ragu-Nathan et al., 2008) and the Technostress...
Diagnostic methods of measuring empathy with focus on Czech adaptation of A Questionnare of Cognitive and Affective Empathy
Bartoš, Josef ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Jaroš, Jan (referee)
The ability to identify yourself with others, or to understand their emotional states, is one of the fundamental strategies of everyday life. This presented thesis is focused on the theme of empathy and psychodiagnostic potential for measuring it. For this purpose, the author presents an initial theoretical framework, the current notion of empathy based upon multidimensional model. He then shows existing inventories and discusses the Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy in a greater detail. The aim of the empirical part is to translate this questionnaire, and to verify its psychometric qualities on the Czech population. The sample consisted of 260 participants (57,7% of women), average age was 30,73 years and standard deviation 9,6 years. To carry on the research, the inventory was parallelly translated by three professionals. The research then investigated the five-factor model through confirmatory factor analysis. The results show that the five-factor model fits the Czech data quite well. Nonetheless, five items had to be excluded due to poor factor loadings (3 from factor online simulation, 1 from factor proximal responsivity, 1 from factor peripheral responsivity); the original 31-item questionnaire has its Czech version with 26 items only. Reliability of internal consistency was...
Person-centered approach in personality research and prediction of online environment behavior
Fousková, Petra ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Lukavský, Jiří (referee)
The presented diploma thesis focuses on the person-centered approach in personality research and on the possibilities of predicting behavior in the online environment. The theoretical part defines different approaches to personality descriptions, with a special focus on the person-centered approach, variable-centered approach, and person-specific approach. The outputs of thematically relevant research studies are also summarized here. The empirical part describes the exploratory research, which aimed to examine the possibility of predicting the personality type of LinkedIn users in the context of the person-centered approach, based on an analysis of their profile and behavior associated with this professional social network. The standardized HEXACO-PI-R and 4Elements Personality Inventory® questionnaires were used in the research. Cluster analysis was performed on data from 118 participants who filled out the 4Elements Personality Inventory®. Based on that, 4 clusters that describes 52,2 % of the variance were formed. Furthermore, using multinomial logistic regression, two models predicting the probability of a person belonging to a certain cluster based on information about predictors were created. Another cluster analysis was performed on the data from HEXACO-PI-R, which created 6 clusters that...
Justice and fairness in workplace and related tools for their measurement
Pocar, Martin ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Jaroš, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with justice and fairness in the workplace. The theoretical part begins with an introduction to the topic, defines the key concepts and further states what are the differences between them. The following chapters describe reasearch into justice and fairness from its inception, which dates back to about the middle of the last century, to the present. The theretical part continues with the reasons that motivate individuals to think about justice and fairness, what are the consequences of perceived (in)justice and (un)fairness, and finally we present the existing tools that are used to measure these phenomena. The empirical part focuses on the adaptation of two main, foreign methods (COJS and POJ) to the Czech environment, verification of their psychometric properties, basic validation and exploration the relationships between them. Due to the validation of POJ and COJS, we also set a secondary goal, namely the adaptation of scales describing the relationship to the organization and the superior and verification of their basic psychometric data. The results of our research showed that the 4-factor model of justice (COJS) and the 1- factor model of overall fairness (POJ) can be considered satisfactory, even with the Czech version created by us, which corresponds to previously...
Psychological aspects of covid-19 pandemic on employees of retail chain company.
Šíma, Adam ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Tefelnerová, Pavla (referee)
Thesis focuses on impact of covid-19 pandemic on employees of retail chain store, who couldn't work during the lockdown. Using self-evaluation questionnaire and CD - RISC 10 scale we mapped selected aspects like well-being, perception of risk of infection, teamwork, experienced emotion and resilience. Survey was completed during both spring and autumn lockdown. We processed the results using correlations, linear regressions and paired t-test on sample of n=199 employees during the spring, n=192 employees during autumn. We managed to pair 41 answers. During the spring survey we found several significant correlation between variables: percieved difficulty of lockdown and percieving the infection as risky (r=0,313, p <0,001), satisfaction of employee with: the communication with superior and need to communicate (r=0,424, p <0,001) and feeling of being informed (r=0,545, p <0,001). Percieved difficulty of lockdown weakly correlated with emotion of fear (r=0,346, p <0,001). For variables well-being we found two significant predictors: emotion of sadness (p=0,004) and anger (p=0,039), for variable percieing the difficulty of lockdown we managed to find two predictors: percieving the infection as risky (p=0,001) and importance of emotion in respondent's life (p=0,035). Feeling of being informed from the...

Heřman, Ondřej ; Höschlová, Eva (referee)
Heřman, O. (2020). Character-Based Leadership from Perspective of the University of Defence Students and the Reconnaissance Units Soldiers. Rigorous thesis. Prague: Charles University. Character is generally being highlighted as a key aspect of military leadership, but there has been only marginal attention given to it in the research yet. This thesis deals with the concept of leadership based on leader's character in the context of the land forces. The literature review part summarizes the previous findings on this topic, the research part describes the qualitative-quantitative study which aims to map the commander's character strengths important for his perceived efficiency. The sample consists of the students in the 1st year (N = 81) and the 5th year (N = 80) of the University of Defence and the soldiers of the 102nd Reconnaissance Battalion and the 533rd Battalion of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (N = 38). The data collection tools are the open questionnaire, VIA Inventory of Strengths Revised (Peterson & Seligman, 2004), Czech Leadership Questionnaire (Procházka, Vaculík, & Smutný, 2016) and author's Character Strengths Leadership Inventory. The results show that the most frequently mentioned identifying features, best traits, and examples of the commander's character are Fairness, Honesty,...
Purchase behavior in automotive segment
Klementová, Jana ; Höschlová, Eva (referee)
The aim of the thesis is the contextual and procedural analysis of customers purchase behavior. Both analyses point out several internal and external factors, which play their role in customer's decision- making process. The result of the process is or it is not the purchase of a product. In theoretical part of the thesis is described customer's behavior at the purchase of both: standard products and also newly introduced product by which doesn't previous customer experience exist. Research part is divided into two parts. First part is an analysis of factors, which influence purchase of a passenger car. Research identifies the factors, which play a role in the decision-making process and determines the importance of these factors. Analyses compares the response of the customers with anticipation of the importance of the factors done by salesmen. Salesman is an integral part of the customer's decision-making process and he influences itby his/her assumptions. The factors are set into context with Maslow's Hierarchy of needs. It is possible to identify statistically important differences in perception of measured parameters among customers of car producer Mercedes-Benz, customers of other producers in automotive segment and salesmen of Mercedes-Benz. In the second part of the work are analyzed the...

Höschlová, Eva ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
Rigorous thesis: Reliability and validity of communication sociomapping: focused on peer-to-peer ratings in small work groups Author: Mgr. Eva Rozehnalová, Ph.D. Supervisor: MUDr. Mgr. Radvan Bahbouh, Ph.D. Abstract: The theoretical part of the thesis shortly introduces the topic of group communication and identifies relevant influencing factors. The subsequent summary of the research studying the impact of communication on work group performance illustrates not only the importance of the group communication topic itself, but also the development of diagnostic methods in this field. Such methods are further summarised by focusing on their specific characteristics, differences and available validity and reliability data. The last chapter of the theoretical part briefly describes the sociomapping method measuring group communication with the up-to-date reliability and validity research. The empiric part of the thesis combines several studies performed to verify the quality of the sociomapping method in the field of group communication. The criterion validity of sociomapping visualization was studied as an accuracy of numeric data translation into distance matrices, the reliability was measured as an inter-rater agreement of interpreting sociomaps. The studies showed the sociomapping being highly relevant in...
Work engagement: its pedictors and organizational outcomes
Sivoková, Kristýna ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Šípová, Ivana (referee)
This thesis deals with the topic of work engagement. Firstly, various concepts of work engagement and approaches to measuring this concept are presented. Moreover, the context of engagement and its relations to important aspects of working life are being discussed. Lastly, links between work engagement and important organizational indicators of success are being outlined. Research results showed a significant relationship between work engagement and all measured work resources. Part of the relationship between work resources and work engagement has been shown to be mediated through perceived meaningfulness of work. Furthermore, the significance of work engagement as a predictor of business performance was successfully verified. No significant correlations were found between work engagement, turnover and client satisfaction. Keywords work engagement, employee engagement, predictors, work resources, business performance, turnover, client satisfaction, meaningfulness of work
Paradox of choice and related personality characteristics
Rzepecká, Michaela ; Höschlová, Eva (advisor) ; Šípek, Jiří (referee)
In the master thesis, we present theoretically-critical analysis of current academic knowledge about the paradox of choice and related selected personality characteristics. In the theoretical part, we examine the topic of desition-making. First part defines concept of the paradox of choice. The next part also includes previous research related to paradox of choice and related factors. In addition, we examine the phenomenon of post-decision regret in the context of the paradox of choice. In final section we elaborate relevant personality characteristics. The empirical part investigates the effect of paradox of choice, its relation to personality characteristics and post-decision regret. The research includes experiment, which is extended with personality questionnaire measuring maximization tendency, decisiveness and optimism. Those traits are measured by using Maximization scale Lai (2010), Life Orientation Test- Revised (LOT-R) and Bochum Personality Questionnaire (BIP). In the discussion, we further explore features of maximization tendency. Results does not show presence of the paradox of choice. Nevertheless participants from group with the most choices showed significantly more satisfaction with choice compared to participants from group with least choices which suggests opposite effect. In...
