The nedia image of the Czech republic in the english-speaking world

The title of the presented thesis is The Media Image of the Czech Republic in the English-speaking World. The media image of the Czech Republic is analyzed in three different English-written newspapers. The chosen newspapers are USA Today, The Daily Mail and The Australian. The overall goal of the thesis is to compare media images which are constructed by defined periodicals and it is reached by checking of the hypotheses which are defined in the introduction and thanks to the comparison of data gathered during the research. The theoretical part of the thesis anchors the work itself within contemporary theories and academic approaches. The news production with international news flows included are described in the theoretical chapter along with stereotypes and their relation to media images. The whole chapter is ended by subchapter about hard and soft news and subchapter about evaluation in media. The analytical part of the thesis begins with a description of a used research method and a definition of used data. Subsequently, there is a detailed description of used variables. The very last part of the whole paper presents complex results of the research, the hypotheses are proved or falsified and the differences among the media image of the analyzed newspapers are described.

Miroslav Paulíček NO ONE DARE SAY IT'S BORING TOWARDS THE SOCIOLOGY OF HIGH AND LOW ART The concept of high art usually connotes highbrow and snobbery, the pride of elitists; it seems to be an instrument of the ruling class for its dominant social status reproduction. Many advocates of popular culture scorn and ignore high art - they often use the approach of social constructivism and say that high culture is nothing but a social construction. They emphasize that there is no quality, which could classify any work of art as high or low. On the contrary, the author of this book writes about an art with no animosity, without an effort to relativize of it, about art without ironic quotation marks. The title of this book - quotation from Gustave Flaubert's letter about reading Dante's Inferno - enables to develop a story of the answer to the question of what kind of art is the art that no one calls boring and why no one dare do it. The book finds its inspiration in the perspective of social constructivism and in the sociology of science. The author describes the actors (both humans and non-humans) that keep the network of high art together. Opposing compulsory vaccination as an expression of elementary classification of effective substances

My thesis is concerned with a public resistance to compulsory vaccination, which has only recently become a problem to watch in Czech Republic. It aims to demonstrate different ways of interaction between the expert medical discourse, which advocates and sanctions vaccination, and the discourse of a particular group of vaccination objectors. They include different conceptualizations of expert knowledge, evaluating a legitimacy of the expert institutions and a conflict between experts' claim to take care of a public health and a demand to put the responsibility for one's health in the hands of each citizen. These motives also take places in two general conceptualisations of health and disease. The conceptualisation which is typical for vaccination objectors stresses the importance of a natural and holistic treatment but it also shares some similarities with the expert conceptualisation. These differences and similarities have been systemically examined in a qualitative analysis of 18 interviews with parents refusing to vaccinate their children. Hamiltonovské kružnice v hyperkrychlích s odstraněnými vrcholy

In 2001 Stephen Locke conjectured that for every balanced set F of 2k faulty vertices in the n-di- mensional hypercube Qn where n ≥ k + 2 and k ≥ 1 the graph Qn − F is hamiltonian. So far the conjecture remains open although partial results are known; some of them with additional conditions on the set F. We explore hamiltonicity of Qn − F if the set of faulty vertices F forms certain isometric subgraph in Qn. For an odd (even) isometric path P in Qn the graph Qn − V (P) is Hamiltonian laceable for every n ≥ 4 (resp. n ≥ 5). Although a stronger result is known, the method we use in proving the theorem allows us to obtain following results. Let C be an isometric cycle in Qn of length divisible by four for n ≥ 6. Then the graph Qn −V (C) is Hamiltonian laceable. Let T be an isometric tree in Qn with odd number of edges and let S be an isometric tree in Qm with even number of edges. For every n ≥ 4, m ≥ 5 the graphs Qn −T and Qm −S are Hamiltonian laceable. A part of the proof is verified by a computer. 1

This work explores the opposite approach: design of compression methods, based entirely on prop- erties of suffix graphs. We describe a unified construction algorithm for suf- fix trie, suffix tree, DAWG and CDAWG, accompanied by analysis of implicit suffix link simulation that yields two practical alternatives. Since the com- pression applications require maintaining text in the sliding window, an in- depth discussionof slidingsuffixgraphsisneeded. Fillinggapsin previously published proofs, we verify that suffix tree is capable of perfect sliding in amortised constant time. On the other hand, we show that this is not the case with CDAWG, thus resolving a problem of Inenaga et al. The introduction deals with the history of the solar cells as the next part is dedicated to generations of them as well as to their principle and the variables measured in photovoltaic cells. The next part deals with perovskites, their properties and structure. Later the part about perovskite solar cells follows. The last part is dedicated to experiments which were executed on samples of perovskite solar cells.

The thesis deals with the principles of making marketing mix and the goal is to design process of making marketing mix in selected company by using the principles of marketing activities. The selected company is engaged in the sale, rental, bazaar and service of ski equipment. The first part is about the realization of the analysis of the marketing mix and the results explain why it would be reasonable to create a marketing mix for the summer season. The next part is designed to process the creation of the marketing mix, which clarifies the possibilities of the company, the competitive environment, but also the needs, desires and demands of the customer.

Comparison of use of a public space by children from housing estates and children from suburbs of Prague.

My thesis focuses on emprirical research of differences within the use of public space by children in the age of 10 to 12 living in housing estates and in suburbs. Children from housing estates and suburbs spend their free time and use a public space differently, also restrictions on their independent mobility have a different image. For children who have a different life rythm from adults, is spending time in public space in their neighborhood important for their socialization. An impact on using of public space has many factors, for example a type of urban environment or restrictions of children's independent mobility. The public space is important for a life in a city, it is a place where everyone can spend his time. People who meet there other people are in a society but don't know each other. In residential parts public space is important for children, mothers with children and older people who are fixed on their homes. The first place of my research are housing estates were built especially for living. It missed an urban diversity and pulic spaces misses the traditional image. The first of researched places is Jižní město, the biggest housing estate in Prague. Compression of biological sequences

Volumes of data obtained from the next generation sequencing platforms is growing faster than the available capacity of storage media. Sequencers mainly produce short reads of DNA. However, output of the sequencing machines also contains other information, for example information about read reliability/quality. This data must be archived even after successful complete genome assembly. Standard file format used for this type of data is format SAM (Sequence Alignment/Mapping Format) and its binary compressed version BAM. In this thesis we describe the construction of a better lossless compression scheme for compression of files in the SAM/BAM format. This compression scheme provides better compression ratios than the BAM format. In addition, random access to data in the compressed file is retained. Implementation of this compression scheme is platform independent and allows simple configuration of the compression process. Implementation also offers easy extensibility. Thanks to this, we will be able to respond to changes in current sequencing platforms as well as to changes in the SAM format.
