Motherhood as a political issue? Czech interwar women's movement between the "private" and the "public"

The thesis focuses on Czech interwar middle-class women's movement, as represented by the Czech National Women's Council. Specifically, it explores the question whether and how the Czech National Women's Council thematized and reflected upon the private roles and work od women (motherhood, domestic work) as public, political issues, solvable by public, political means; and whether and how it used the roles of women in the private sphere to support claims in the public sphere. Research for the thesis was done mainly on the Ženská rada magazine published by the Council (years 1925-1938), supplemented by other archive materials.

Zatímco se tehdy ekonomický vzestup evropských zemí, způsobený nástupem průmyslové revoluce na konci 18. století, neustále zrychloval, církev zůstávala pevně ukotvena 'na jednom místě', odmítavě se stavěla vůči moderní době, pokroku, technice a rozumu a snažila se posilovat vlastní cíle způsoby, které nenacházely v liberální společnosti 19. století příznivou odezvu, čímž ztrácela podporu věřících, její vliv na dění ve společnosti slábl a ona pozbývala všeobecné autority, jíž se dosud těšila. Communist Party of Czechoslovakia on the road to the illegality

Bachelor thesis discusses the possibilities of underground work of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ) and their presentation on examples of an illegal work of the foreign Communist Parties in the legal Czechoslovakian red newspapers since the late 1920s through to the final period of the legality of the Communist Party during the "Second Republic". The paper is divided into three thematic blocks. The first section deals with the context in the form of development of the party system since the late 1920s to the end of the First Republic, also the legal framework for the protection of the republic and the definition of anti-systemness. The second part depicts the history of the KSČ during late 1920s and early 1930s. The third part is already devoted to analyzing the possibility of illegal work by means of comparison. In fact in terms of analyzing the official party press, which could be based on articles on the activities of illegal foreign parties. These articles could eventually serve as models for the domestic illegal work. This fact is examined in the second part of the analysis. Slovak Republic (1939-1945) in Typology of Non-Democratic Regimes

The purpose of this diploma thesis is to cathegorize the Slovak Republic (1938-1945) in the non-democratic regimes typology, primarily with regard to theories of Fascism and regimes in the "grey zone" between Fascism and Authoritarianism. The thesis explains the dynamics of Fascisation in Europe in the mid-war period, and places the Slovak Republic to this context of "the Fascist era". In the practical part, it will be dealt with divisions of the regime internally and in the Hlinka's Slovak People's Party. Based on this, the Slovak regime will be defined as Parafascist. Relationship of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk and the Czech Catolic modernism on the break of 19th and 20th century

v anglickém jazyce není součástí práce. Resumé (úryvek) The work is divided into four chapters: Chapter two (T. G. Masaryk) analyses Masaryk's religious, philosophical and political opinions and chapter three (C^ech Catholic Modernism) presents the assembly of Catholic Modernism, its aims, personalities and leading representatives' views. The crux of the dissertation is the comprehensive chapter four (T. G. Masaryk and Catholic Modernism) which brings in the actual synthesis of the relationship of T. G. Masaryk and Catholic Modernism, their mutual association and struggle at the turn of the 20th century. In this chapter I analyse the decline of the church and the reasons for it, politicization of the catholic movement, Masaryk's interest in Catholic Modernism, agreements and disagreements between the two parties, the personalities of J. S. Machar, K. Dostal-Lutinov and S. Bouska and extensive affairs which occurred in this period (Rieger's affair, Chaplains' affair, Kohn's affair, Juda's affair and suchlike).
