Želiv, Monastery in the Foothills of Vysočina. Its Property and History of Settlement until Mid 14th Century

Želiv, formerly the convent of Benedictines, was transformed into a Premonstratensians monastery (around 1149). Its beginnings were complicated. It took a long time to stabilize its existence and consolidate its property. The monastery has been located in deep forests of the western foothills of Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. The location at the border of Bohemia and Moravia was ideal for colonization. Well preserved historical sources on this topic enable us to research the main phases of its economic development and describe it in the context of the period. The role of Želiv clergy in the uncovering of mining localities in Jihlava and Humpolec areas is also interesting but not well researched. The monastery in Želiv as such was rebuilt several times which would be impossible without a strong property base and a good management. Štěpánka Kozlerová Oponent: Title of bachelor thesis: Application of inertial sensors in physiotherapy Key words: inertial sensors, fyzioterapie, accelerometr, gyroskop, functional independence measures, neurorehabilitation Abstract: Inertial sensors are devices that allow monitoring of the movement. They are used also in physiotherapy, where they are applied to analyze walking and to detect falls. My bachelor thesis is focused on the possibility of using inertial sensors for monitoring patients affected by upper extremity. The theoretical part contains an outline of chosen foreign studies that deal with this issue. The second part is about theoretical neurorehabilitation, which is an important part of treatment for patients after brain damage. The practical part is processed in the form of quantitative research. The aim was to obtain and correlate the values obtained before and after the rehabilitation process. It was a total daily activity of upper limbs, which was measured by inertial sensors and the results of functional independence measures (FIM).

Provincial Courts in 16th Century Portrayals in Bohemia

The diploma thesis Provincial Courts in 16th Century Portrayals in Bohemia deals with portrayals of the higher provincial courts sessions in Bohemia in the 16th century as well as with their typology. In this time arose mural paintings, which decorated representative spaces of some residences which belonged to the prominent nobleman families, pictures and graphics which illustrated treatises with law themes. The aim of this thesis is to map these portrayals, compare them and set them into the cultural-historical context.

The carriers of the bishops in the 13th century

This submitted paper is focused on career rises of Czech bishops in 13th century. It deals with three of them, serving in Diocese of Prague: Nicholas of Ujezd (bishop between1240-1258), John III. of Drazice (bishop between 1258-1278) and Tobias of Bechyne (bishop between 1278-1296). Considering wider social and political context, this paper tries to describe the possibilities of career life in the Roman Catholic Church. Author uses contemporary sources of information and published literature, newer but even older, applying comparative method and prosopography.

The Influence of Political Systems and Ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague in the 20th Century

Název v anglickém jazyce: The Influence of Political Systems and Ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague in the 20th Century The subject of the Thesis is the influence of political systems and ideologies on the National Theatre Ballet in Prague. The period of research spans mainly from the theatre season 1923/1924, when Remislav Remislavský was appointed the post of ballet master and choreographer, to the season 1989/1990, when Vlastimil Harapes assumed the post of the ensemble's chief. Two main periods are underlined: the period of World War II and the subsequent period of the Communist Party government after 1948. Persons of interest are mainly the bosses of ballet company for example Jelizaveta Nikolská, Joe Jenčík, Saša Machov or Jiří Němeček st. and others, but also soloists, and the repertoire of the ballet corps. This thesis is a scope of the evolution of ballet of National theatre in concern of political changes in 20th century.

Discourse about Hussitism in Czech society of 20th century and its illustration in the Hussite Trilogy by Otakar Vávra

The angle under which Czech society sees Hussitism has undergone a rapid turn over the last few decades. The planned B.Sc. thesis aims to contribute to the identification of roots and prerequisites of this turnaround laid by previous development of Czech society and culture, especially after the World War II. It is obviously also necessary to analyse the preceding long- term development, from the beginnings of the national revival through Tyl and Palacký up to Jirásek and Nejedlý. The main subject of the work will then be an analysis of new elements in the view of hussitism contained in the film trilogy by Otakar Vávra (Jan Hus, Jan Žizka, Against All), and their reception by contemporaries and subsequent generations.

The Compacts in the Utraquist-Catholic Polemic Between the Years 1437-1500

60 Abstract: The thesis deals with utraquist and catholic writings of polemical character, in which the authors reasoned by the Compacts of Basel. The researched polemics originated in the territory of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the March of Moravia between 1437-1500. Attention is given to a detailed analysis of the passages which discuss the Compacts and a general view on the Basel agreements is evaluated at each writer on the basis of discovered information. The thesis attempts to answer the question, to which aspects regarding the Compacts the authors paid attention most often and which similarities or differences can be found between the argumentations of individual persons.

Joanna of Rožmitál, the life story of a Bohemian queen by the end of the Middle Ages

The life of Joanna of Rožmitál (Rosenthal), who is mainly known as the wife of George of Poděbrady, was much more diverse and richer, than it could seem at first view. Being a noblewoman from a Catholic family, she married a "Calixtine."During her relatively short life, she managed to promote the succession of Jagiellonians to the throne, to participate in provincial diets, to resolve conflicts between Catholic and Calixtine noblemen and, after the death of her husband, to hold the highest office in the state. On the basis of extant sources and narrative literature I will try reconstructing Joanna's life, her court and heir governance along George's side and also after his death. Among other targets, the work will try to portray the life of a medieval noblewomen in a rather uneasy period.

V diplomové práci se v první, teoreticky koncipované části práce věnuji kořenům a vývojovým proměnám gendru jako kulturní konstrukce. Na úvod věnuji zvláštní pozornost historickému vývoji feminismu, feministické antropologie a přístupům k fenoménu gender a jeho přínosu pro pochopení kulturní specifiky mužské a ženské role. V této části se dále zabývám vymezením základních pojmů a gender stereotypů, s nímž souvisí i problémy spojené s jejich zkoumáním. Snažím se o zmapování příčin odlišného vidění mužského a ženského světa. Zabývám se také dichotomií sporu o biologický versus kulturní determinismus genderu sledující univerzalitu a rozdíly v pohlavních rolích. Druhá část této práce je věnována sociálnímu aspektu gendru. Člověk z tohoto hlediska představuje souhrn rolí, které ve společnosti hraje. Proto v tomto příspěvku analyzuji vývoj postojů k rolím mužů a žen na trhu práce a v rámci rodiny. V této části se též věnuj i otázce násilí páchaného na ženách, která vychází z premisy, že násilí disponuje nástroji, které nejsou ničím jiným, než osvojenou formou vztahu nadvlády a ovládaného. Tato kapitola je zakončena vývojovými trendy v oblasti genderové subkultury. Navazuje kapitola věnovaná sexualitě, kde se pokouším načtrtnout rozdíly mezi mužskou a ženskou sexualitou. The coronation ordines of Charles IV. as ritualized rulers programme

The present diploma thesis is an attempt to find new ways of interpreting the Charles IV.'s coronation ordines text (Drdo ad coronandum regem Boemorum). The rudimentary analysis ofthis source was already accomplished by Josef Cibulka and it is precisely his work which served us as a basis. We attempted to take into account the contemporary medievalist literature which deals with coronation and intronization rituals in Europe abundantly. Even though the main topic of the contemporary works are rituals of the early Middle Ages, their conclusions can be helpful for our thesis as well. We have described the situation before Charles IV.' s acceSSlOn, especially the chronichlers' descriptions of the Přemyslid corronations. The analysis of these sources doesn't provide us sufficient information to decide whether a Přemysliďs coronation ordines text existed in the 13th century (surely not before) or not. Basing ourselves on the coronation ordines text analysis we have come to the conclusion that the Czech coronation ordines text was modeled on the ground of the Otonian coronation ordines text from the 10th century and was extended with several elements from the French ordines text from the 13th century which were created during the reign of Saint Louis IX.
