The influence of the transverse stiffening of the arches of a double-track railway bridge in the dynamic response
Bureš, Vojtěch ; Vlk, Zbyněk (referee) ; Martinásek, Josef (advisor)
The subject of this diploma thesis is static and dynamic analysis of arches of a steel railway bridge and investigation of the influence of their stiffening. A shell model was created in Ansys, which was then loaded and statically checked according to the second-order analysis with inserted imperfections. The dynamic analysis focused on the influence of stiffening on the long-term service life of the structure. The results on models with and without arched stiffener were compared.
Face Detection, Invariant to Rotation
Bureš, Václav ; Herout, Adam (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the detection of type uniform objects (concretely faces) in an image. Furthermore the thesis concentrates on the detection of objects in various rotations. The thesis covers a brief overview of methods available, such as Logical Binary Patterns, Histogram Of Gradients, Eigen Faces and more closely specified AdaBoost. Next, freely available datasets are presented, with a descripiton of their chosen characteristics. At the end of the thesis, experiments using AdaBoost algorythm and their evaluation are described.
Static analysis of railway bridge
Bureš, Vojtěch ; Martinásek, Josef (referee) ; Vlk, Zbyněk (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the static analysis of a railway bridge. Using AxisVM X6 software, I created 4 different models and compared them not only with each other, but also with simple manual calculations. Two models are beam models, the third is shell model, the fourth is also shell but with an end ledge that reinforces the entire structure. The structures are loaded by a manually calculated load according to the standard.
The Effect of Presence and Abundance of Parasites (Nomada, Stylops) on the Host Species Population (Hymenoptera: Andrena) at the Level of Entire Communities
Bureš, Vít ; Straka, Jakub (advisor) ; Libra, Martin (referee)
Bees (Anthophila) play a crucial role as pollinators, vital for maintaining biodiversity in ecosystems. However, the decline in pollinator populations in recent years raises concerns about ecosystem stability. This study investigates the impact of parasitism on host bee populations of the genus Andrena as a potential factor influencing the decline of insects. Additionally, it examines populations of parasites of the genera Stylops and Nomada as indicators of host population status. Bees of the genus Andrena are abundant in the western Palearctic and are commonly parasited by Stylops and Nomada. Leveraging a large dataset from Europe, this study uses abundance data to explore the influence of abiotic and biotic factors on the parasitization rates of host Andrena bees. Specifically, the effects of abiotic factors such as altitude, habitat type, annual rainfall, and average temperature on the parasitization rates by both parasite types has not been confirmed. The results indicate that within small geographical units (sites), larger populations of host Andrena bees are more heavily parasitized by Stylops compared to smaller populations, while this trend does not hold true for Nomada. Interestingly, this study reveals that Stylops and Nomada coexist within the same host populations without competing for...
Production and characterization of biochar from mixed plant waste
Bureš, Vojtěch ; Nábělek, Jakub (referee) ; Pořízka, Jaromír (advisor)
This work focused on biochar production from mixed vegetable waste in the context of home gardens and small farms. The aim of the work was to produce different types of biochar from common mixed garden waste material and then to characterize it according to the European Biochar Certificate (EBC) classification, as well as to develop a methodology for household biochar production, according to current knowledge. Four of the five biochar samples produced met all the criteria for the EBC-Feed category and are therefore suitable for any form of use, including animal feed production. The last sample did not meet the EBC parameters for usable biochar due to above-limit levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), but according to current studies and the new European Union limit values for fertilisers and amendments, the detected PAHs concentrations do not prevent its application to agricultural land. Therefore, based on the findings of this work, it is possible to recommend domestic production of biochar and its application to agricultural soils for long-term improvement of soil quality.

Financial earthquakes: Are volatility correlations related to Omori's law?
Bureš, Vlastimil ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Žigraiová, Diana (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the market dynamics in periods following a large financial shock. In order to do so, we compute the cumulative number of times the volatility is greater than a given threshold. Such a method is analogous to Omori's law from geophysics. We draw statistical evidence from three different events. The first one is concerned with the death of Steve Jobs and how it affected the evolution of Apple's share price. The second one focuses on the Flash Crash of 2010 when the Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced the largest drop of 900 points. And the last one is when IBM announced its 2013Q1 earnings which were significantly below expectations. By employing two different approaches to volatility calculation, we are able to compare the obtained results and thus draw a more definite conclusion. Our findings suggest that the decay rate of after-shocks for the considered earthquakes is well described by a power-law which is analogous to Omori's law. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Use of Modern Technologies in Physical Education at Schools
Palička, Pavel ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Mužík, Vladislav (referee) ; Bureš, Vladimír (referee)
Pavel Palička - Use of Modern Technologies in Physical Education at Schools Abstract Problem: The use of digital technologies in education is one of the possibilities how to support the pupils' motivation. Physical education (PE) offers a variable environment where various types of actual wearable technology (smart phone, tablet etc.) can be used. No integrated overview of possibilities and practical recommendations for the use of available digital technologies (DT) in physical education has been published. There is also lack of research results measuring impact of their use on everyday school practice. Hypothesis: It was hypothesized that pupils who receive innovated experimental education programme using digital technologies will have better relationship to PE and greater intrinsic motivation to exercise. Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in intrinsic motivation and relationship to physical activity in physical education triggered by an experimental DT- involving education programme. Methods: The research was carried out in form of a quasi-experiment conducted in physical education lessons in school years 6-9. The research sample (N=237) consisted of two groups. A group of 119 pupils in experimental lessons was compared with a control group of 118 pupils who went through...
Causes of bee loss (Anthophila) in the landscape
Bureš, Vít ; Straka, Jakub (advisor) ; Tropek, Robert (referee)
Bees (Anthophila) are one of the most important pollinators in the majority of Earth's biotopes. They interact with almost one-fifth of flowering plants and together with other pollinators they secure one- third of human food sources. Since the end of World war II,along-term decrease in numbers of bees and other insects is observed due to degradation of natural habitats, expansion of agriculture, pesticide usage, parasites, and infections. In North America and Europe, several studies reported a significant loss of bee diversity and abundance. The situation in tropics is unclear and there is not enough evidence if bees are threatened there. Specific changes in relation to the decrease of the bee population are observed in the case of honey bee (Apis mellifera). Due to human beekeeping activities and specific honey bee attributes such as bigger body size or tolerance to lower temperature, honey bees show different trends in their abundance than other bees. This study discusses the causes of these losses and possible future consequences, for example, the collapse of ecosystems as a result of pollination crisis or lack of human food. On the other hand, several phenomena such as extensive agriculture, green cities, or wildfires have a positive impact on bee abundance and diversity. This thesis presents...
