ISBN system in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis is aimed to introduce several different aspects of the identifier ISBN, with emphasis on the Czech Republic. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical one. Introductory chapter defines the need of identification of information sources. It provides information about properties and division of identifier, too. Next part of the work is already focused on the identifier ISBN. It represents this identifier with regards to historical and organizational aspects. This part also analyzes the actual structure of the ISBN number. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis is devoted mainly to the usage of the ISBN identifier in the Czech Republic. It outlines the historical development and specific use in this country. The following part of work is strictly practical - attempts to analyze the usage of ISBN identifier in several information institutions. The final part of this bachelor thesis offers a summary of the main propositions and outlines possible future problems of the ISBN system.
Publishing of Belles-lettres in the Last Ten Years at the Czech Market

The Bachelor thesis deals with the fiction book market in the Czech Republic and its changes during the years 2001-2010. The first chapter defines the terminology linked with belles-lettres including its types and genres. The second chapter focuses on the Czech book market, its past and present, and deals with the different publishers, book distributors, sellers and marginally the libraries, too. The next point is readership in the country and its support. The third chapter concerns a statistical evaluation of Czech books and fiction. The final chapter shows a summary of fiction publishing by means of sales charts and comparison with other book popularity surveys. The situation of the Czech book market with belles-lettres is summarized in the conclusion.
Acquisition in special libraries focused on history

This Bachelor thesis presents acquisition in specialized libraries focused on history. Special attention is paid to military history. In the first part I generally characterize subject of history. It is followed by description of information sources in Czech Republic. The most important part was based on research and consultation in four libraries: Institute of History, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Institute of Contemporary history, Vojenský historický ústav and its affiliated library of Ministry of Defence. The last one is slightly different in collection which consists merely of military documents.

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to outline the situation of the university libraries in Finland. In the first part, there is some basic information about Finnish republic and its history or the structure of Finnish education system. It describes the organization and law of Finnish librarianship and general aspects of the university libraries. Second part is focused on selected academic libraries. The collections and services of six university libraries (University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä, University of Lapland, University of Oulu, University of Tampere and University of Turku) together with The National Library of Finland are depicted. The Municipal Library of Nový Jičín and its role in the local cultural activities developement

Thesis titled "The Municipal library of Nový Jičín and its role in the local cultural activities development" deals with issues of community libraries. The first chapter includes the definition of basic terms such as library, community, community library and community activities. In the second chapter we deal with the question, why should the libraries change into the community centers and also where they could find an inspiration to realize this goal. The next section describes the trend of the existence of libraries on the social network Facebook. The fourth chapter is more factual. It deals with extensions and activities of the Municipal cultural center of Nový Jičín, its individual parts and relationship between them. The largest part of this chapter covers the history of the Municipal library of Nový Jičín. It also deals with the nearby part of the Cultural center - the Archa teahouse and the music department of the library in Coffee Music Bar. The penultimate section describes the specific examples of cultural and educational events in library, promotion of the events, their financing and flaws. Geolocation services and games and their use in libraries

Bachelor's thesis on the theme "Geolocation services and games a their use in libraries" is focused on geolocation services and games, which can have positive impact for libraries. First chapter is dedicated to present geolocation services and games and briefly desribes their principle and function. Next chapter is focused closely on specific game, which is Geocaching. Describes its principle, history and also presents examples of caches and their individual types. Third chapter is focused on specific use of geocaching in libraries. Presents existing examples of libraries with experience in geocaching and describes more ideas about its use in libraries. Last chapter contains model design of cache placement in library.
Josef Poch, his work in Podbrdsko region and the influence in the Czech librarianship

(anglicky) The topic of this bachelor thesis is the life, activity and work of the Czech librarian Josef Poch. The introduction presents Poch's life and work in general. Two chapters describe his work in the region Podbrdsko. His activities are mentioned in areas of librarianship, culture and adult education in this region. The third chapter is about Poch's work in the Town library in Beroun, whose history and development are also depicted here. Cultural and social life in the region is shown in the background of Poch's work. The last chapter reveals Poch's literary work and his influence in the Czech librarianship. Complete work is summarized in conclusion.

The aim of this work is the analysis, description and evaluation of the Secondary Education Programme in the Field of Library and Information Systems and Services of the Secondary Vocational School of Commerce, Services and Crafts and Language School with the Right of State Exams in Tábor. In the introduction there is a list of secondary schools in the Czech Republic which offer this field. In the principal part there is briefly introduced the Secondary Vocational School of Commerce, Services and Crafts and Language School with the Right of State Exams in Tábor, then there is analyzed in detail the actual study of Library and Information Systems and Services, which also includes comparison of curriculum of the subjects with discussed subject matters in reality. This bachelor thesis focuses on the teaching of the field in 2005-2009. There is briefly outlined, how it is about the realization of the transition to a new educational framework 72-41-M/01 Information Services. As part of the thesis, a survey of follow-up study was conducted, respectively the employment of graduates by survey methods. Information services of the National Medical Library (Prague) provided through the Internet

Summary: National medical library, Prague (NML) is special library for the medicine area. It is a medical libraries systém's central point in Czech Republic. Services of the library is used by medical librariens, dorcors, non-clinical medical careers, students and laymen. Access to on.line information services of NLM i provided through three portals. Portal Medvik is Online Public Access Catalogue of NLM and is using data from catalogs of other libraries participating in system Medvik, database Bibliographia medica Čechoslovaca and thesaurus Medical Subject Headings. Portal of electronic sources is a usefull tool for searching in accessible databases. MedGate, central retrieval, is used especially for fulltext retrieval in free and licenced sources. These are simple, modern and efficient tools for users to find relevant information. Problem is, that users often do not know, what is NLM offering. Social media marketing might be an answer. It is a cheap and efficient way to get the users know about library's services and comunicate with them.
The development of fantastic literature, its latest trends and its role in the Czech libraries and in the Czech market

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the historical development of fiction as a literary genre, from the early modern period to the present. This trend is observed in the Czech Republic and abroad. Besides the development we can find here as well the definitions of particular genres. The thesis then examines how public libraries are facing to the current trend of popularity of the fiction. The problems associated with the description of documents, construction of the fund, and acquisition are mentioned as well as benefits from the popularity of the genre - when libraries use fiction to their promotion. The conclusion briefly surveys current state of the book market and its share which is occupied by the fiction. In the supplement a brief list of fiction subgenres can be found.
