Pokorný, Ladislav ; Jeřábek, Martin (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to document the development of the party system in the Federal Republic of Germany from the 1950s to the 1980s, focusing on finding and determining the position of the Freie Demokratische Partei within the party system of Germany in the defined period. In this thesis, the author refers to theories of party systems, primarily the works of the French political scientist Jean Blondel and his two-and-a-half party system. The thesis also includes works of party typology by other prominent party system theorists Maurice Duverger and Giovanni Sartori. The historical and political development in Germany is also charted. The author also reports on the contemporary political system in Germany. The thesis further charts the historical and political development of Germany. He also briefly introduces the current political system of Germany. As a key element, the Freie Demokratische Partei, its formation and its active chronological role within the government coalitions of the period are presented. The electoral periods concerned in the Federal Republic of Germany and the electoral gains of the main electoral groups are described. The author concludes by demonstrating that the FDP is a party within the German political system that fulfils the criteria of Blondel's two-and-a-half...
Constitutional Conventions of the President of the Slovak Republic
Šedivý, Jakub ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Hájek, Lukáš (referee)
The eminent Slovak author Marian Giba argues, in connection with the Constitutional Law applied in Slovakia, that the Slovak constitutional system is neither currently based on an unwritten law, nor will it be short. However, this does not mean that in society there is no room for applying the conventions mentioned above in practice. Constitutional conventions are and will continue to be an integral part of the exercise of the mandate of the President of the Slovak Republic. Unlike a constitutional text, a constitutional convention does not emerge overnight. But on the contrary, the process of creating constitutional conventions is purely gradual and many times even subtle in practice. With the thesis problem, I tried to build on my bachelor thesis research, where I examined whether the Constitutional Constitutions were violated in practice by the President of the Slovak Republic at the most critical moments during the governmental crisis in Slovakia in 2018. In this case, I tried to focus on only one constitutional convention. The research question of the final master thesis was to find out the concept of a critical Constitutional Conventions in the territory of Slovakia, i.e., the assignment of the representative of the winning political party to form a new government. Through careful analysis,...
The process of forming pre-election coalitions for the 2021 parliamentary elections and the motivation of the parties to cooperate
Volt, Adam ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Stauber, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the formation of pre-election coalitions at the turn of 2020 and 2021. The second theme is the motivation of individual parties to cooperate. The election of 2021 was famous for the phenomenon of pre-election coalitions. In the pre-election time, five opposition parties were cooperating - ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09, Pirates, and STAN. From which two alliances were formed, which proceeded together. There was a significant reduction in the highly fragmented relevant opposition scene. Eventually, also the victory of one of the coalitions in the election and these coalitions created a new government. The information is based on coalition agreements, media statements of key party politicians, and semi-structured interviews conducted by the author. The thesis seeks answers to why the individual parties joined the coalition or, for example, what role the chairs of the coalition parties played in the whole process. Another goal of the thesis is the method of induction to create a basis for the classification of motivations. This classification of parties according to their motives led them to join the coalition.
The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the digitalization of Czech political parties
Alexová, Magdaléna ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to assess the impact of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic on the process of digitalisation of Czech political parties. The first part will provide the necessary insight into the issue of digitization of political parties and the tools that parties can use in it, including their consequences. The second part will focus on the nine most important Czech political parties (ANO 2011, ČSSD, KDU-ČSL, KSČM, ODS, Piráti, SPD, STAN, TOP 09), on the elements of their current digitization and the changes they have resorted to during the Covid-19 pandemic. We find that there are significant differences between the parties in their ability to successfully digitalize, which has manifested itself during a pandemic by their ability or inability to adapt flexibly to new conditions, adopt new digital tools and thus keep the party running effectively. The thesis will answer whether these differences, and thus the way in which the parties coped with the Covid-19 pandemic, are related to their structure and organization.
