Origins of Matrix Theory in Czech Lands (and the responses to them)
Štěpánová, Martina ; Bečvář, Jindřich (advisor) ; Slavík, Antonín (referee) ; Hora, Jaroslav (referee)
In the 1880s and early 1890s, the Prague mathematician Eduard Weyr published his important results in matrix theory. His works represented the only significant contribution to matrix theory by Czech mathematicians in many decades that followed. Although Eduard Weyr was one of the few European mathematicians acquainted with matrix theory and working in it at that time, his results did not gain recognition for about a century. Eduard Weyr discovered the Weyr characteristic, which is a dual sequence to the better known Segre characteristic, and also the so-called typical form. This canonical form of a matrix is nowadays called the Weyr canonical form. It is permutationally similar to the commonly used Jordan canonical form of the same matrix and it outperforms the Jordan canonical form in some mathematical situations. The Weyr canonical form has become much better known in the last few years and even a monograph dedicated to this topic was published in 2011.
On Employing Persons with Health Impairment: Law, Possibilities, Difficulties
Štěpánová, Martina ; Cimrmannová, Tereza (advisor) ; Stretti, Sylvie (referee)
I want to achieve several goals in this Master Thesis. The first one is a brief description of the nowadays understanding of the phenomenon of unemployment, health disability and their common interaction. Another aim of the thesis is to summarize the social effects which are caused by unemployment. Possibilities of finding a position for the invalid people in the employment market are discussed as well. I will mention certain disadvantages of employing invalid persons. The disadvantages are mainly caused by the health status of invalids and eventually by a long period of being unemployed. The substantial part of the thesis consists of case studies of persons with health impairment. These case studies contain proposals of solving the current situation of these person along with the confrontation of their real situation with the theory. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Italy in the 90's - political earthquake and it's impact on the European Parliament elections
Štěpánová, Martina ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Polednová, Klára (referee)
Diploma thesis Italy in the 90's - political earthquake and it's impact on the European Parliament elections focuses on political and social changes that Italy experienced during the early 90's and their impact on election campaigns and European Parliament election results in 1994 and 1999. The paper recaps evolution of powers of the European Parliament, legal base for EP elections in Italy and it summarizes both internal and external factors that led to radical changes in political and partisan system and eventually to the end of the First Italian Republic. It depicts collapse of party system and rise of new political parties and leaders on the background of international context, judical investigation into political corruption Mani Pulite and offensive of organized crime as a reaction to it. The key part of the thesis is dedicated to the European elections in Italy in 1994 and 1994, it analizes election campaigns led by the Italian political parties and the electoral results. The main objective of the thesis is to confirm or disprove initial hypthesis that Italian political parties perceived the European elections as a tool to reach their domestic aims, as research revealing distribution of powers in the national arena.
States on algebras
Štěpánová, Martina
States on algebras Abstract: States are defined as special cases of a mapping into a set of real numbers. In the thesis, we intro- duce states on ordered Abelian groups, many valued algebras (MV-algebras), generalized many valued algebras (GMV-algebras) and commutative dually residuated lattice ordered monoids (commutative DRl-monoids). We describe some properties of above-mentioned algebras and present a connection among them. For example, GMV-algebras (an algebraic counterpart of the non-commutative infinite valued propositional logic) are a non-commutative generalization of MV-algebras (an algebraic analogy of the Łukasiewicz infinite valued propositional logic) and we can obtain MV-algebras as special cases of DRl-monoids. Existence theorems for states, con- ditions for the uniqueness of states and formulas for the ranges of values of states are introduced here.
Reading comprehesion workshop as a way of learning German
Štěpánová, Marta ; Bučková, Tamara (advisor) ; Švermová, Dagmar (referee)
The topic of this work is reading workshops as a means of learning German as a foreign language. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether, and if so, what is the organizational and methodically inventive form of didactic potential in teaching German as a foreign language. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. It focuses on the literary text and its role in teaching, as well as the representation of literature in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and in the Supplement to the CEFR. Attention is paid to reading skills with an emphasis on literary reading, which is crucial for working with literary texts. The concept of reading workshops represents a bridge between the theoretical and practical part and brings four different adaptations of literary texts targeting literary, communicative, intercultural, and linguistic competence. The empirical survey contained in the fourth chapter presents the results of a questionnaire survey, which was conducted among German language teachers at the elementary faculty schools of PedF UK. The research was based on the confirmed hypothesis that teachers rarely work with literary texts, even though they consider working with literary texts to be beneficial. KEYWORDS Reading, literary reading, reading workshops, didactic adaptation...
Návrh marketingové a obchodní strategie firmy DELONG INSTRUMENTS a. s.
Štěpánová, Monika
The bachelor thesis deals with the creation of marketing and business strate-gies for the firm Delong Instruments a.s. In the first part of the thesis there is a literary research, where the basic terms related to the chosen topic are found. The next part analyzes the external and internal environments using STEPE and 3C analysis. 4P analysis was also used to investigate the internal environment. A questionnaire survey was used among potential customers of Delong Instru-ments. On the basis of previous analysis, questionnaire surveys and in-depth in-terviews with the authorized employees of the company, I compiled a SWOT matrix and other partial strategies. These strategies should help the company to improve its market position.
Calculation of Values of Trigonometric Functions
Uhlířová, Iva ; Halas, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Štěpánová, Martina (referee)
Title: Calculation of Values of Trigonometric Functions Author: Iva Uhlířová Department: Department of Mathematics Education Supervisor: Mgr. Zdeněk Halas, DiS., Ph.D. Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with various calculation methods of how to calculate values of trigonometric functions (sine and tangent chiefly). These methods either were used in the past times or are still used nowadays. However, in this thesis, these methods are explained in a modern way in order to be easily understandable by such readers who have basic knowledge of calculus. In each chapter, there is only one method discussed. At first, lengths of chords are calculated and a table of them is constructed, based on Ptolemy's and Copernicus' methods. Then, al-Kashi's approximation method is interpreted elaborately. Furthermore, Newton's method of development of Taylor series for the sine function is explained in detail. Last but not least the CORDIC algorithm is discussed. In order to provide a better understanding, there are particular values calculated in each chapter. Keywords: Almagest, CORDIC, Taylor series
