The thesis describes the development of a feature film debut after 1990 in the Czech Republic, above all, from the viewpoint of a producer but also from the point of view of a director. The work is divided into several chapters. The first chapter focuses on the history of feature film debuts in the Czech Republic between 1990 and 2006. The second chapter concerns FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) graduates and the co-operation of more debutants on a single project. It is further focused on the funding opportunities, on which organizations support the origination of debuts and on the attitude of the Czech Television. I developed a questionnaire which I sent to the most important Czech film producers of today and, in my opinion, their answers may represent a lesson to be learned by the next generation of producers. The work also addresses PR and distribution, their specific features as related to debuts and film festivals and awards focused on feature film debuts.
