Multimedia a and project education and its impact on the expectation of the teacher and on the attitudes and opinions of the students of the secondary school with a technical field of study

The diploma thesis, by means of a qualitative research, deals with the attitudes, opinions and behaviour towards media of the selected students who are at grade L3 at a technical secondary school at the beginning of the school year and it is focused on potential changes in these attitudes, opinions and behaviour after a half-year attendance of the subject called Multimedia and Project Education which should fulfil aims written in the RVP dealing with the topic called Media Education. During the research 24 dialogues were realized in two periods, at the beginning of the school year of 2015/2016 and after the first term of this school year. After coding, analysis and interpretation of the data it was observed that there were certain changes in some students' opinions and behaviour; however, most of the students' attitudes were the same. The function of the research is rather explorative and it could be a source of inspiration for a further research taken in the field of media education in the Czech Republic. The television series Wifina in the context of media literacy and education through media

This diploma thesis is an addition to the discussion on media literacy development, which also deals with the effectiveness of children's education via a television program. The work offers a brief content overview of public broadcasting television channel ČT:D, focusing on shows that enlighten the viewers about facts from various fields (which are thus regarded educational). The television program Wifina is described in detail and is the center of later research. The first part of this document defines the factors that affect reception of information from television broadcast. The thesis introduces different variations of key media literacy concepts, including the specific way they are handled in the Czech setting. The objective of this work is to determine, whether the show Wifina enhances development of media literacy through its content, and whether this content helps to broaden general knowledge and education of the viewers. Based on content analysis of the program and subsequent qualitative comparative analysis of two groups of children - viewers and non-viewers - the author ascertains, whether Wifina educates its viewers about media-related subjects, as well as other areas. Media education as a part of foreign language educationat czech schools

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of media education as a part of foreign language education at Czech schools. The thesis is divided into three major part - the theoretical background with analysis of national curriculum and school curricula, the practical part - qualitative research of teacher's opinions and quantitative research of student's opinions on media education. The third part offers description of activities and handouts that can be used in English classes to improve the level of media literacy. It proved that the connection of media education and foreign language classes is not indicated in the Frame Educational Programme, however it gives the possibility to school to integrate the topic into any subject. Based on the analysis of the school educational programmes of selected school it was found out that schools do integrate media education into many subjects including foreign languages. Most of the foreign language teachers claimed that they integrate media education into their classes. However, they are limited by certain barriers - primary school teachers especially by low language knowledge. Didactic potential of the magazine Mateřídouška in the implementation of media education at primary school

The thesis deals with the didactic potential of the magazine Mateřídouška, especially its possible application in the implementation of media education at primary school. The first part of the Thesis focuses on the theoretical knowledge of the psychological development of the child, reader literacy and media literacy and media education as one of the Curricula program for primary education. The second part is a brief analysis of magazine for primary school children. Subsequently, the work focuses longest stemming magazine for primary school children - Mateřídouška magazine. In the analysis are used knowledge presented in the theoretical part of the Thesis. Emphasis is placed upon the analysis primarily on the didactic potential Mateřídouška. The aim of the Thesis is finding if Mateřídouška magazine could be used in the implementation of media education at primary school.
Media influence on deciding of the possibilities of spending free time

The aim of thesis "The media impact on the decision of the possibilities of spending freetime" is to determine through what channels, public gathers informations about leisure opportunities. It can help the centers of freetime to get media exposure as an opportunity for their development to help freetime centers to perceive media as an opportunity for their further development. Theoretical part introduces readers with the theme how media acts with society, especially with family, children and parents. It also deals with freetime time centers, the reader will be familiar with their characteristics for a good orientation in the following practical part. It also deals with various tool of so- called "communication mix", which is then applied in the practical part of the draft, as an "Communication strategy of DDM in Prague 9". The experimental part is based on a statistical methods of market research, particularly a questionnaire survey. Theoretical part of this thesis is about women's magazines in the Czechoslovakia and in the Czech republic. The introductory chapters are about its characteristics, division and historical development. It describes current state in the Czech magazine's market, stratification of women's magazines, it also describes broadly media influence and apply these theoretical knowledge to women's magazines. The important chapter is chapter Media and Gender, which explains the term gender, compares men's and women's magazines and presents criticism of women's magazines from gender point of view. Methodological part is insight into the choice of method and choice of samples. This part contains also basic characteristic of reasearched magazines. Research part describes the representation of successful woman according to women's magazines, what is the difference in each magazine and it also shows the changes of view of successful woman in reserched period.
Opposition "homo - animal" in language. Contribution to the Czech linguistic picture of the world

This diploma thesis aims to contribute to the research of the Czech language picture of the world. It is based on fundamental theoretical and methodological resources of cognitive and cultural linguistics and focuses on the opposition of "man - animal", or "human - animal", in the Czech language, aiming to illustrate the way in which zooappellatives (animal names) relate to the reality of the human world. The most extensive part of the thesis is based mainly on an analysis of Czech dictionary material (etymological, reference, synonym and phraseological dictionaries), as well as comparing the scientific (biological) classification of animals to the categorization in natural language. In regard to the category ANIMAL, the thesis establishes four basic domains constituting the category's conceptual model (framework): "the place where the animal lives", "physical traits", "the animal's behaviour" and "relation to man". The thesis also includes questionnaire-based research that focuses on analysing the way in which speakers of the Czech language understand the category ANIMAL, and attempts to determine whether they regard some animals as more protypical than others.
Public television as an educational and informational medium, analysis of the program ČT Déčko

Master thesis "Public television as an educational and informational medium, analysis of the program ČT Déčko" is aiming at upbringing and education targeted at children and youth, which is offered to its viewers by Czech television as a public media. Upbringing and educational influence is often ascribed to public media in relation to public media definition itself. Educational effect of Czech television is prescribed by a law and is also part of Czech television's Code, especially aiming at children and youth. Primary goal of this thesis is to map how is the Czech television approaching its own requirement in relation with start of children aimed ČT Déčko program. First part of this work is trying to define very basic concepts, like childhood, uprising and education in historic, sociologic and media context. It is describing idea of childhood, offers possible ways to educational and uprising potential of television broadcasting as itself. Media education and digital literacy of blind high school students

The paper addresses issues of media education in blind high-school students, especially in the topical context of digital media. The theoretical part devotes to problems of education of visually impaired persons. Next, concern the subsumption of media education as a cross- sectional subject into Czech primary and high-schools education. This part is also concerned with specific digital media and extensive opportunities of its utilization for visually impaired persons. In the experimental part of the paper, discrete components of digital literacy of sightless high-school students are analysed. The method of focused (semi-structured) interviews was selected. Interviews were executed with ten visually impaired high-school students and subsequently analysed with the help of qualitative content analysis. The aim of the paper is to give a notice on dependence of blind people to digital media and its specifics and, in this conjunction, emphasise the importance of media education.
Social media etiquette

The thesis deals with the etiquette within social media and social network sites as a part of network media. First section focuses on the phenomenon of etiquette in historical context and deals with associated terms such as courtesy and politeness. Second part deals with documents concerning so called netiquette - network etiquette. Finally the third part focuses on the etiquette within social network sites (SNS). The paper analyses three SNS - Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and their official rules concerning appropriate user behaviour. Furthermore there are also unofficial rules created by users, enthusiasts, bloggers and journalists defined in the paper. Last part focuses on some phenomena that are significantly related to the topic of social media etiquette. The finding of the thesis shows that there are certain SNS etiquette rules and suggestions that are repetitive. It was also discovered that there is lack of uniform official etiquette rules within the SNS whereas the membership of users plays an important role in shaping those rules, advice and suggestions.
