Comparison of media interest in czechoslovakia/czech athletes at the summer olympic games in Ciudad de México in 1968 and London in 2012

The main goal of this bachelor thesis, "Comparison of media interest in Czechoslovakia/Czech athletes at summer Olympic Games in Ciudad de Mexico in 1968 and London in 2012", is to compare the media interest in Czechoslovakia and Czech athletes in Československý sport, Sport, Mladá fronta, Mladá fronta Dnes, Rudé právo a Právo newspapers, during two summer Olympic Games concretely the one in Ciudad de México (1968) and in London (2012). The quantitative content analysis was used to find out how much of the space was given to our athletes in each kind of newspapers. I made the comparison of those two years and also the comparison of every each newspapers. Results of the analysis shows the differences and progress in the sports journalism.
Presentation of chosen tv series from period of normalization in magazines czechoslovak television and television

This thesis examines how two magazines from normalization era (Czechoslovak television and Television) wrote about three chosen TV Series (The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman, Good Water and Gottwald) when they were launched on the screen. Not only noticing topical and genre range of the texts, thesis also judges degree of propaganda in unusual journalistic environment (state press writes about state television). Thesis notes viewers'opinions apart from official texts. They were also published on magazines. Last but not least, thesis compares media environment of those days with temporary one. It notes details from normalization that are not supposed to work today. Theoretical and historical view on Czechoslovak television's operation during normalization goes before concrete research. A lot of media literature is used. Thesis confronts opinions of censored press in normalization with more objective state. This is applied both on evaluations or describing of series and on writing about real historical events. Therefore, two series that describes historiy from communist point of view were chosen - The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman and Gottwald.
The media image of Chile during the years 1970-1973 in the czechoslovakian daily newspaper

The aim of this thesis is to describe the media image of Chile during the years 1970 - 1973 in the Czechoslovakian media. In 1970, the first Marxist oriented president in the western hemisphere, doctor Salvador Allende, was elected by people in Chile. Along with his government, put together out of the members of the Unidad Popular coalition, he made the first steps towards the creation of socialism in Chile. These efforts claimed the attention of the media in the Eastern Bloc, including the Czechoslovakia. The bachelor's thesis examines the media image of Chile in three Czechoslovak daily newspaper, that is Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Lidová demokracie. The chosen research method is qualitative content analysis. The examined time periods were following events: the victory of Salvador Allende in the presidential election, the nationalization of the Chilean copper industry and the military coup of General Augusto Pinochet. The thesis builds upon an extensive theoretical part describing the historical and international political background of the events as well. A lot of attention is also dedicated to Chilean- Czechoslovakian relationships, which were based mainly upon Chilean-Soviet relationships.
Creating a school newspaper as a means to promote media literacy

This dissertation deals with the theme of the school magazines in grammar schools. Specifically, it examines the influence of independent school magazines production on the development of pupils' media literacy. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretical one and empirical one. Theoretical part briefly defines the term media literacy, explains the growth in use of the term and describes its anchoring in the Czech educational system. It pays attention to definition of media education in educational documents of the Czech Republic and further talks about possibilities of its inclusion into classes and its expected impacts. It briefly compares media production within guided media education and independent school media production created by pupils itselves. The second part is devoted to the survey carried out by three editorial boards of Pilsen school magazines that emerged from pupils' initiative. It explores functions and processes of magazine running, shows differences in each editorial board, its incentive, goals, author's primary expectations etc. Further, the research analyzes the contributions of school magazines independent work to development of pupils' media literacy. Images of Children and Youth about the Work of Journalists

The aim of the thesis "Images of Children and Youth about the Work of Journalists" is typification the Czech journalist and his workload by children and adolescents from the age group 10-16. Moreover thesis is working with subjective children's and youth's attitudes to the profession. The first theoretical part is searching the definition of the journalistic profession in the literature and sumarizes past research on similar topics. Novel research is the core of the whole work. The questionnaire survey was carried out in primary and secondary schools in Prague, Central Bohemian region and Hradec Králové region, 153 questionnaires for younger respondents and 180 for older respondents were processed, a total of 333 completed questionnaires. The questionnaire asked for socio-demographic data about a notion of typical journalist (age, sex, place of residence, income, education...), it's personality (characteristics), journalism as a lucrative profession (rating of respondents) and a normal working day of the journalist (timetable of activities and place of presence). The relationship between a computer game and its audiovisual pattern

Diploma thesis The Relationship between the Computer Game and its Audiovisual Pattern deals with the similarities and differences between the computer games and audiovisual works. The thesis presents some theories reflecting different points of view to the influence and blending of these media forms. Those theories are the base for a suggestion of typology of games and movies adaptations that were made according to a pattern. In each of three suggested categories, there are mentioned some particular examples of computer games that were inspired by movie or series and also examples of movies that were inspired by computer game. The final chapter is a case study which compares the computer game Lost: Via Domus to its audiovisual pattern - series Lost.
Aircraft and railway accidents in Czechoslovakia and in the Czech Republic in 1960 - 2008 in daily press

Diploma thesis Aircraft and railway accidents in the Czechoslovakia and in the Czech Republic in 1960 - 2008 in the daily press describes ten serious traffic accidents (five airplane and five train accidents), the context and especially the media coverage of these accidents. The thesis describes and compares the media coverage of these accidents in the analysed daily press - in daily newspaper Rude pravo, Pravo, Mlada fronta and Mlada fronta DNES. It shows the changes in the way of media coverage. It also looks for the factors which influenced the way of media coverage. The aim is to show the changes in the methods and results of a work of a journalist and to set them into the historical, political, social and media context. Furthermore, the thesis consists some theoretical parts about aircraft and railway accidents and prevention. The media analysis is contextualised by some relevant media theories and a brief history of media in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic in the analysed period.
