The Key Determinants of Plane Ticket Price Dispersion
Vlčková, Radka ; Kučera, Adam (advisor) ; Čechová, Kristýna (referee)
This thesis examines the plane tickets price development using both descriptive evidence and econometric analysis. The observed phenomenon of rising and falling fares in period close to departure is described and compared with the extensively developed theories, such as demand utilization and stochastic peak load pricing. Studying the fares observed on European routes using descriptive evidence revealed that the airlines accommodate fast to the uncertain demand. In the econometric part, the key factors influencing the price dispersion are determined. The contribution of this thesis is mainly in the econometric approach, as the price fluctuations are measured weekly using the coefficient of variation. This made it possible to compare how the different flight or market characteristics affect price dispersion in different week to departure. It was shown that number of sold seats, the load factor, is the crucial factor.

The Rise of Extreme Right: Evidence from the Slovak Parliamentary Election
Kotrč, Michal ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Čechová, Kristýna (referee)
What explains the late election success of extreme right in Slovakia? Al- though there are many studies on Western European extreme right parties, less attention is devoted to their Central European cousins. From a meth- odological perspective, even fewer studies consider spatial effects in their models. This thesis aims to explain electoral support for the extreme right Kotleba - People's Party Our Slovakia political party (Kotleba-L'SNS) in the 2016 parliamentary election using a broad range of socio-demographic, economic and cultural variables on the municipal level. In the first stage, we use ordinary least squares regression as our baseline model. As this model suffers from spatial error correlation, we use a spatial error model in the second stage. We managed to create a variable which removed Roma people from the group of unemployed and thus we disentangled the effect of Roma people and unemployment on the electoral support for the Kotleba-L'SNS party. In this way, we found a significant positive effect of share of un- employed people on the electoral support for the extreme right-wing party. Other estimates indicate a significant positive effect of share of the young people and share of people with a lower level of education on support for the Kotleba - People's Party Our Slovakia. On the contrary,...
Returns to schooling in different industries: The case of the Czech Republic
Havlín, Martin ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Čechová, Kristýna (referee)
The thesis examines two main issues that were not covered in much detail or at all in studies that used Czech data. Firstly, the thesis analyzes the returns to schooling taking into consideration the industry, where the individual works, and secondly, the thesis measures how returns to schooling differ in certain industry groups. An OLS regression is run based on an adjusted Mincer equation with dummy variables for the highest achieved level of schooling rather than years of schooling. The results of the first analysis show differences among returns to schooling levels and indicate that industry affects the hourly wage of individuals. The results of the second main analysis reveal substantial differences of returns to schooling for different industry groups.
Multifractal Analysis of Stock Market Prices
Čechová, Kristýna ; Krištoufek, Ladislav (advisor) ; Vošvrda, Miloslav (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to provide an empirical evidence of multifractality in financial time series and to discuss the relevance of this concept for the current financial theory. We have applied two methods, the Multifractal Detrended Fluctuation analysis and the Generalized Hurst exponent method, on components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. We analyzed daily data of 30 companies traded on U.S. stock markets from 2002 to 2012. We present results supporting presence of multiscaling in open-close returns. Contrary to published literature, we were not able to find any significant multiscaling in volatility. Moreover based on our analysis, multiscaling is not present in standardized returns and as multifractality requires relatively complicated models, this is our most valuable result. 1
Role of nonprofit organizations in economy : relationship between nonprofit sector and state
Čechová, Kristýna ; Gutiérrez Chvalkovská, Jana (referee) ; Kameníček, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis aims to examine the role of nonprofit sector in economy and its relationship with state. Firstly, it covers the topic from theoretical point of view. It is trying to answer the question why the nonprofit organizations exist and how can their relationship with state look like. The second part analyzes the nonprofit sector in two model states - in the Czech Republic and in Finland. Among others it covers the history of nonprofit sector, its scope in economy, its financing and the structure of nonprofit sector. The final part contains an interpretation of situation in both of the model states based on covered theories. Analysis shows that there are certain important similarities in both states while the reasons for such similarities are quite different.
