Exuser and management in a therapeutic community - concept Betel

This diploma thesis deals with the role of exusers (former habit-forming substances abusers) in the treatment of addicted clients and in the management processes utilised within the communities of the Betel organisation. Extensive attention is paid to the description of the methods of work in the Betel organisation, which uses in the majority, the self- help therapeutic potential of the exusers in its long-term residential programme. Throughout this thesis, the alternative approach in treatment used in Betel is compared to the more frequently used concept of professionally managed therapeutic communities. The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into five main chapters. The first chapter deals with the description of the workings of professionally managed therapeutic communities, their place in the system of help to the addicted in the Czech Republic, and their effectiveness in the treatment. The second chapter describes in detail the methods and specifics of the help that is used in Betel and especially points out the role of exusers in this concept. The third chapter focuses on the history of community lifestyle with an emphasis on the self-help therapeutic impact. Lada Furmaníková, Ph.D. Abstract This work discuss setting organization of public administration - municipal authority - to organizational changes. The main method of research are semi-structured interviews, taken with all the staff and management of the organization. After closer introduction shows the village as legally and historically established organizations in our society, describes the contextual influences on the changes as public administration, politics and bureaucracy. Then will show specific factors that resists and that on the contrary support changes in organization. Based on the factors, will recommend practical measures to enable the introduction of changes, relevant to current conditions inside and outside the organization. Spending free time through the eyes of children threatened by social exclusion

This thesis is focused on the phenomenon of the social exclusion to the specifications of socially excluded children. My target was to answer these questions: How children threatened by social exclusion spend their free time? Are they satisfied with these ways and do they feel any limitations to spend a free time in different way? The theoretical part I focused on the theoretical definitions of the concept of social exclusion and other theoretical related concepts like integration, social inclusion or culture of poverty. Further I was dealing with definition of free time and in addition I described briefly a town called Neratovice where children participated in my research live, visit the school or do some leisure activities. For the research, I selected a quantitative research method - four semi-standardized interviews with children threatened by social exclusion at the age of 6-11 years. In addition children drew a time schedule of their common week day and weekend day. In practical part I analyzed the data from research, compare it with the data from other researches and suggest some recommendation based on these data in theoretical context published in theoretical part. Prenatal, natal and postnatal care issues with a focus on Vietnamese women

The thesis is focused on issues concerning prenatal, natal and postnatal medical care, which is being provided to Vietnamese women. The core subject of the research is defined as "How do the Vietnamese women reflect upon or respond to health care which is ordinarily provided to them during the pregnancy and labor period as well as the postnatal stage in the Czech republic?" The objective was not just to find out how do the Vietnamese women reflect upon their experience with the care they receive, but also to investigate factors, which could have an effect on their perception and experience. The body of the thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. The theoretical part is devoted to a brief description of the background of the Vietnamese women, including their culture, traditions and the health care system. Different traditions associated with the pregnancy, labor, and postnatal period are described in a separate chapter. It should be noted that findings gathered from expert literature have been enriched with information which comes directly from the author's own research. Supervision of Organisation - contemporary need of social services providers

The diploma work is dealing with investigation of supervision in the organization which offers residential social service. Supervision support aims at the organisation as a whole and deals not only with rank staff but also with management staff. Its outputs (recommendations) reflect also organization process though. The theoretical part firstly describes supervision in its definition and sense and in the same time is dealing with fields in that supervision has its use. Secondly describes also organisation system as a phenomenon which allows aiming attention of supervision to an organisation itself all according to heading for its progress, learning and culture. This part also includes the theoretical discussion in the field of social services especially after passing the Law of social services (108/06) in relation with connected organisation claims. The author - in the practical part - with the help of qualitative research examines "supervision of organisation" in consideration with its system context. Reporting and recording of adverse events in inpatient health care facilities

The current thesis deals with the issue of adverse events. However, it does not concern the number of described and recorded adverse events in healthcare facilities or their spectrum. I am particularly interested in the attitude of the staff at the University Hospital Pilsen and how to respond to the requirements of the TOP management in the recording of adverse events. The theoretical part will concentrate on explaining the concept "adverse event", the description of influences which cause such events to arise and also to summarize the current situation concerning the approach to adverse events in the Czech Republic. The empirical part of the thesis describes the implementation of qualitative research, its results and recommendations for future practice. I am interested in researching the perspective of employees and their level of cooperation and openness in the approach to the reporting of adverse events in the provision of therapeutic, diagnostic and nursing care in inpatient health care facilities. The respondents in my research are employees of the University Hospital in Pilsen. I researched their views using a structured interview. The goal of my diploma thesis is to analyze retraining as an effective way of fighting the unemployment. Retraining is one of the most common means of pro-active employment policy. In my research I have focused on the efficiency of retraining and long-term enhancement for the retrained individuals. The research has been conducted on a chosen fragment of those, who participated in educational project, which was carried out in 2006 - 2008. Based on personal questioning and questioners, too, I have come to the conclusion on long-term enhancement of retraining projects and set up recommendation to make the retraining courses more effective. Thesis subject: The Role of Family Carers in the Nursing Home for Persons with Cognitive Impairment. The theme of this thesis is the role of the family carers in the nursing home for persons with cognitive impairment. This topic is very actual due to the aging of society and to the increasing of life expectancy. A proportion of the old people in society increases but in the same time there is a decreasing number of people who could take care of them at home (due to negative population balance, disintegration of traditional family, economic situation and high requirements of the care etc.). Many seniors who are depending on the help of the others (such as people with dementia) spend their old age in institutional care. The qualitative research in this thesis shows that families continue in caregiving even after the admission of their relatives to a nursing home. The aim of this research was to describe the involvement of families in the institutional care and to identify factors that influence this phenomenon. The topic of this diploma thesis is the education of healthcare personnel, more specifically, the deepening of vocational qualification of radiology assistants. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The first part is an overview of theoretical knowledge which is essential for understanding the issue. It is divided into several sections which describe the system of undergraduate and postgraduate education of radiology assistants and the legislation related to the profession. The first part also describes personal development planning and career planning for employees, systematization of work positions in the organization, management and risk prevention in organization's personnel department. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part. The thesis is a case study dealing with a selected group of healthcare personnel. A qualitative research was chosen to clarify the context, interviews with the selected group of respondents served as the source of data. The group of respondents consists of management and radiology assistants from specific organization.
