Monitoring and Simulation of ADS Experimental Target Behaviour, Heat Generation, and Neutron Leakage
Comparison of transgenic and streptozotocin models of Alzheimer in rats: validation of IntelliCage system for behavioral phenotypization
Svobodová, Eva ; Telenský, Petr (advisor) ; Svoboda, Jan (referee)
Animal models of Alzheimer's disease display cognitive insufficiencies which mimic human symptoms and occur at a given age or post-treatment time. Animals are typically tested using canonical behavioral tests, lasting minutes and taking place mostly in the non-active period of the daily cycle. Animals are exposed to certain amounts of manipulation-induced stress. Our work represents a validation study for the rat behavioral system IntelliCage. The tested individuals live freely in a group and their behavior is monitored continuously. It is however possible to set up individual tests for each animal or a group of animals. The rats are not subject to human manipulation and hence the results are not affected by manipulation-induced stress. We tested early cognitive impairment in the transgenic rat model TgF344-AD at 6 - 8 months of age. Further, we tested two most common protocols of the streptozotocin model, i.e. single dose of intracerebroventricular 3 mg/kg streptozotocin and double dose 48 hrs apart. Results were compared with the canonical Morris Water Maze (MWM) test. In the MWM test, transgenic animals did not differ from controls in any of the studied parameters. The streptozotocin model displayed a deficit only in the double dose group. However in the IntelliCage, transgenic animals displayed...
Application for Recognition of People by Face
Svoboda, Jakub ; Orság, Filip (referee) ; Goldmann, Tomáš (advisor)
Person identification has in the recent years gained notoriety as one of the most powerful ways of extracting information from image data. This thesis is focused on the task of human identification from facial photographs. To solve this task, we employ algorithms based on neural networks, which produce more robust results than traditional algorithms. In this thesis, we studied the common approaches for solving this problem and based on the gathered knowledge we created an architecture of a neural network trained to tackle the task of human identification and verification based on facial photographs. We have then further improved the model architecture and the training process by performing various experiments and observing the results. The final model has reached an accuracy comparable to other state-of-the-art models. Furthermore, we created a desktop application to demonstrate the results visually and to enable easier manipulation with the identity database. The knowledge gathered in this thesis can be used for improvements of current identification models or models modified for solving similar tasks.

Design of erosion and flood control measures for the selected cadastral area
Svoboda, Jiří ; Uhrová,, Jana (referee) ; Sobotková, Veronika (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is in the introduction focused on the evalutation of the current erosion and runoff conditions in the cadastral area of Zádolí u Vysokého Mýta and in the cadastral area Střihanov. The analysis of current erosion and runoff conditions is carried with the use of programs ArcGIS, USLE2D and DesQ–MaxQ. The following is a design of erosion and flood control measures with the main aim of protecting the village Zádolí–Střihanov. Then the design technical measures are dimensioned for the specified design flows. In conclusion of the thesis is evaluated the efficiency of the design protective measures and the average soil loss and runoff quantities are compared before and after the design of the protective measures.
The fracture behaviour of metallic alloys with low toughness level
Novotný, David ; Svoboda, Jiří (referee) ; Stratil, Luděk (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on determining mechanical properties of alloys produced by powder metallurgy methods. Two alloys were studied, namely a highly entropic CrMnFeCoNi alloy and an oxide dispersion-strenthened FeAlO alloy. Both alloys were made in laboratory amount of test material and miniature test specimens were used to measure their mechanical properties. The main goal of the diploma thesis was to develop a crack preparation methodology, to examine and to evaluate the properties of miniature test specimens for materials with low levels of resilience. In the analytical part of the thesis, tensile and deformation properties and fracture toughness of both alloys were measured. For the highly-entropic CrMnFeCoNi alloy, the thesis focused on the effect of the strain rate on the properties of the alloy. For the oxide dispersion-strenthened FeAlO, the effect of temperature in the 23-600 °C temperature range on its mechanical properties was studied.

Hosts and transmission of the crayfish plague pathogen Aphanomyces astaci
Svoboda, Jiří
The crayfish plague pathogen, the oomycete Aphanomyces astaci, has been decimating populations of European crayfish species for more than 150 years, and is therefore considered one of the 100 worst world's invasive species. A. astaci is highly specialised for a parasitic life, but it can be isolated from moribund crayfish and grown on synthetic media, as it is the case also for several other oomycetes (chapter 7). The life of A. astaci includes three basic forms: mycelium in host's tissues, and the infective units occurring in water, zoospores and cysts. All North American crayfish species tested so far have shown some resistance to A. astaci, i.e., they could carry the infection for long, serving as vectors of the pathogen. Massive sporulation from infected North American crayfish starts when the host is moulting, stressed, or dying (chapter 4). However, I could show in my experiments that some sporulation occurs even from apparently healthy and non-moulting American crayfish hosting A. astaci, so infected North American crayfish must be considered a permanent source of the infection (chapter 4). Five genotype groups of A. astaci have already been distinguished. Strains from a particular genotype group probably share the same original host crayfish species of North American origin. Nevertheless, they can...
