Vehicle Passive Safety Systems

This bachelor’s thesis of research nature deals with detailed description of passive safety features in modern cars and with characterization of these features in relation to electric and autonomous cars. Detailed structural and material description of car’s crumple zones and safety cage with description of car’s restraint systems is supplemented with historic background on development of these features. Final part of thesis gives reader an idea of application and necessary changes of these features when used on electric or autonomous cars.
Design of Vehicle Steering

This bachelor thesis primarily deals with the design of vehicle steering, as it forms one of the most important elements of the overall vehicle. The steering must meet certain safety requirements and nowadays, the driver’s driving comfort is already seen as an essential part of it. This work contains the basic kinematic settings and a summary of the individual constructional components together with their functions. To ensure the correct control of the vehicle on the road, the correct setting of the dynamic part of the steering is also necessary. Bearing in mind the electronic equipment of the vehicle that made its way into spotlight, the thesis also explains principles of the systems operations that every modern vehicle already contains. Finally, the types of gearboxes and power steering which this year’s passenger and commercial vehicles are equipped with are summarized. Based on the acquired knowledge, a prediction of the future development of the vehicle driving is presented.
Study of mobile sailing yacht crane

Motorcycle rotary engine

Diploma thesis is focused on conceptual design of Wankel rotary engine with performance between 30-60 kW. Performance of designed engine is determined to 35 kW and volume of one chamber amounts to 245,58 cm^3. In this thesis are step by step calculated geometrical properties of each design group which are afterwards put into 3D data. There is also solved cooling system of designed engine and design of geometrical and characteristic properties of parts of cooling system. Last but, not least there is solved placement of designed engine into frame of motorcycle. As suitable motorcycle has been chosen Honda CBR125R because it has very advantageous layout of frame.
Aerodynamic design of heavy commercial vehicles

Children Terrain Electric Vehicle

The master’s thesis is focused on a conceptual design of a children terrain vehicle with electric drive. At the first part there are described children terrain vehicles rules, electric drives, regulations for a frame test and types of suspension. Then a suitable electric engine, an accumulator and other important parts of the vehicle are chosen. The following part describes the frame construction and its stress-strain analysis using Finite element method. The last part of thesis describes the suspension construction and front suspension kinematics solved in a multibody software. The result of thesis is a vehicle conceptual design created in CAD software Creo, supported by results of the stress-strain and kinematic analysis.

The utilization of reverse engineering in computation of vehicle aerodynamics

The vehicle body was measured by using ATOS 3D scanner. Measured data from the ATOS 3D scanner were applied to make a 3D model of vehicle body and to make a 3D model of whole vehicle by using computer program Pro/ENGINEER. The model of vehicle was made with a view for future use of CAD model. Surface of the vehicle model was used for computation of vehicle aerodynamics – aerodynamic static pressure distribution by using CFD software Star-CCM+.
