The views of lay public on alternative medicine
Humpálová, Marie ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Kordulová, Pavla (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with alternative medicine, their positive and negative ones. The thesis has two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is based on the description of selected alternative treatments - acupressure, acupuncture, phytotherapy, biotherapy, psychotronics, homeopathy, chiropractic, aromatherapy, chiropractic and phototherapy. In recent years, we have heard more about alternative medicine and it is becoming more and more popular. Alternative medicine represents a significant part of human health care, but it does not have any rules or controls. Medical societies are not confronted with the problem unambiguously. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze the opinions of the lay public on alternative medicine. Partial goal # 1 is to map out whether individual types of alternative medicine are in the public eye. Another objective, ie goal 2, is to map out whether alternative medicine is being used, or what methods and the difficulties (determining the treatment phase). A non-standardized questionnaire was selected for the elaboration of the individual objectives, which was applied through the website www.vyplto.cz. The most prominent position in respondents' awareness of alternative medicine is acupressure. The most applied was homeopathy. The most common...
Nursing rounds and their significance from the perspective of nurses
Němcová, Miroslava ; Kordulová, Pavla (advisor) ; Di Cara, Veronika (referee)
This bachelor thesis is devoted to problems of nursing rounds. Nursing rounds are of great importance in terms of quality of care nurses and nursing staff should provide. Moreover, they are very important from a patient's perspective. Integral care of his health and nursing process itself give a basis for creating a preview for care provided generally in health. Since every medical facility is different and procedures change in the theoretical part I have described how it should be properly carried out, how nursing rounds should look like and what should be an integral element. Then, on these grounds I built the entire outline of his thesis. I used a search of the literature in PubMed, Medline databases, information search engines UK and compared theoretical data of nursing rounds with the actual situation in Czech hospitals. I have determined objectives and hypothesis on the basis of practical experience according to the theoretical part of this thesis and in relation to the research problem. The main aim of the thesis is to show how big importance properly implemented nursing rounds have. Their importance is reflected not only in the quality of the care given but also in the patient's perspective of the care throughout the healthcare facility which is a measure that should not be neglected. In...
Safety process in anesteziology care and perioperative care
Benáková, Miluše ; Heczková, Jana (advisor) ; Kordulová, Pavla (referee)
Patient safety is one of the top priorities of anesthesia and perioperative care in the operating room. The patient safety is greatly compromised due to administered medication and the actual operating performance in the perioperative care. The risks of anesthesia and the operational performance are many, starting with the fall of the patient, the possible wrong- site, wrong-procedure, wrong-patient errors, adverse reactions to administered medication, difficult airway management or an unexpected perioperative bleeding. Patient harm in hospital care leads not only to increased costs for additional treatment, prolongation of the hospitalization time, but also significantly affects the subsequent quality of life. Most adverse events are preventable, since most of them are caused by susceptible factors, such as incomplete or incorrect information or the lack of communication between the members of the operating team. Due to the increasing number of such adverse events around the world, including those of the most serious, The World Health Organization has created a program called The Save Surgery Saves Lives, whose aim was the identification of key risk areas in ensuring the safety of patients. On the basis of the identified risk areas the Surgical Safety Checklist was introduced in 2008. It is aimed...

Introduction: This Bachelor thesis expounds, from the perspective of a scrub nurse, the issues of nursing care with a patient undergoing a planned intestinal surgery with the help of a robotic system. In the theoretical part, it describes procedures of nursing care such as preparation of a patient before the surgery, nursing care in the operating room and after the surgery. It also points to principles of modern perioperative approach ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery). The sources that I have used for this Bachelor thesis come mostly from the National Medical Library (through Medline), from the Pub Med database, Web of Science, and also from nursing standards and Google search. In conducting the search, I followed the keywords: perioperative care, nursing, colorectal cancer and robotic system da Vinci. I have used literature written in Czech or English and published in the last five years (with the exception of the history of the robotic system). Methods: To lay out the thesis, I have chosen a case study of a patient with colorectal carcinoma operated by a mini-invasive robotic system da Vinci. On this particular example, I show standard nursing processes, potential risks of perioperative care and their prevention. Objective: Focus on nursing perioperative care of a patient and on the...
Importance of thermomanagement in the care of premature newborn
Stránská, Monika ; Hocková, Jana (advisor) ; Kordulová, Pavla (referee)
The thesis is focused on premature newborn thermomanagement. It is focused particularly on very premature and extremely premature newborns which suffer the highest level of thermolability. The theoretical part deals with the particularities of premature newborn thermoregulation, newborns' reactions to thermal stress, thermomanagement in the delivery room and providing a thermoneutral environment in the incubator. The thesis describes a method of servo-control mode of body temperature, which has not been utilised for premature newborns in Czech Republic. The aim of the thesis is to start using this method and compare it with the method of manual control. Based on the total time not meeting the standard, number of failures and other parameters to assess which method is more suitable for body temperature regulation. The research sample consists of 47 newborsn who were born between the 24th and 32nd gestational week. Quantitative data collection at one-minute intervals was conducted in the 72 hours after birth. The method choice was random. Statistically important differences between the two methods were measured regarding the total time not meeting the standards. The incidence of hyperthemia was higher during manual method, hypothermia when servo-control. Total failure amount was 19%. However, the...
