Querying RDF graphs stored in a relational database using SPARQL and R2RML
Chaloupka, Miloš ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
The RDF framework is becoming a popular framework for presenting data. It makes the data easily accessible and queryable. But the most common way how to store structured data is to use a relational database systems. The relational databases benefit from their long theoretical and practical history, however the relational database does not offer any convenient way how to publish the data. It is essential to create a mapping between these two worlds, to publish the data stored in a relational database in the RDF format. In the presented work we study the SPARQL algebra and create a transformation algorithm that enable us to create a virtual SPARQL endpoint over the relational data. We apply the acquired knowledge in implementation of a tool which uses the algorithm to proof the concept. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Using customer preferences in property market
Strnad, Radek ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor) ; Peška, Ladislav (referee)
In recent years the market share of major real estate companies, at least the Czech ones, has not changed much. Statistical data don't reflect any significal upward trend in volumes of properties for rent or sale. In case the real estate company would like to access larger market share, they have to secure a competitive advantage over the others. One of the ways how to attract more potential customers might be speeding up the company website's property search process. In many cases the website visitors are facing hundreds or thousands of property offers before finding couple satisfactories. The aim of the thesis is to explore possibilities of applicating customer preferences in property trading. The focus is put on research of recommender system algorithms, their characteristics and limtations. The author is evaluating usage of each algorithm variant and its suitability for a real world deployment in a real estate area. Apart from the theoretical part of the work one can find a part, where real estate information system is extended with a framework for implementing recommendation system algorithms. The author is in possesion of production data of a medium sized real estate company. He uses the recommender system framework to build and evaluate example algorithm. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Ontology Management and Visualisation
Fischer, René ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor) ; Peška, Ladislav (referee)
Modern information technologies are unstoppably advancing and their development is inseparably linked with the development of the Internet. The amount of data and information published and available on the Internet is growing in units of Exabyte every year. Using so-called semantic tags added to documents, the Semantic Web movement aims to help machines, and eventually man, to benefit from the information contained in those (not only) on the Internet stored data. Elements marked with a semantic tag is given a machine- recognizable information. The importance of it lies in the positions and relationships of the tag to other tags within some set of (dictionary) of such tags. Ontologies are sets or dictionaries of such marks that capture specific knowledge of certain areas of life, technology or problems. The theoretical part of this work aims to explore the history and the development of knowledge representation, the development of ontologies and ontological engineering and semantic web technologies. In the practical part we analyze the SNOMED CT ontology, what is a large actually used ontology. We also design a tool that should help to enhance and simplify the development of ontologies. In the last, a plan is to implement a part of the designed tool.
Tools for NDL Elaboration
Myazina, Elena ; Richta, Karel (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
Title: Tools for NDL Elaboration Author: Bc. Elena Myazina Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor of the master thesis: doc. Ing. Karel Richta, CSc., Dept. of Software Engineering, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University in Prague Abstract: Current state of research of networks enables end users to create custom connections (lightpaths) for a given application and optical private networks (OPNs). Such adjustments require clear communication between the requesting application and the desired network. Language NDL (Network Description Language) is used to describe such optical networks. NDL is based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF). This thesis analyzes the network description language NDL and its treatment. Current status of the network can be loaded in the form of the description in the NDL and displayed as the graphical representation. The representation enables to find out paths in the network, or edit the network. The result can then be transformed back into NDL format. Keywords: NDL, RDF, optical technology.
System for analysing hydrological time series
Válek, Josef ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
The aim of this work is to design and implement system for operations with time series, in particular with hydrological time series. System is developed for Fiedler-Mágr company, which specializes mostly in manufacturing hydrological measurement devices. The core of the system is REST service written in PHP and supplemented with tools for data visualization. Implementing first stage of system for on-time warning against dangerous outflow - calculating water storage of soil profiles in Liz watershed - is a part of this work. Resulting system is operational and simply extensible for use in other similar tasks. The main function of the system is to combine more time series togeather. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Structured Data Extraction from Unstructured Text
Kóša, Peter ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
Title: Structured Data Extraction from Unstructured Text Author: Bc. Peter Kóša Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: Mgr. Martin Nečaský, Ph.D., Department of Software Engineering Abstract: In the last 20 years, there has been an ever-growing amount of information present on the Internet and in published texts. However, this information is often in a non-structured format and this causes various problems such as the inability to efficiently search in diverse collections of texts (medical reports, ads, etc.). To overcome these problems, we need efficient tools capable of automatic processing, extracting the important information and storing of these results in some form for later reuse. The purpose of this thesis is to compare existing solutions as well as to compare them with our solution, which was created in the scope of software project SemJob. The SemJob project is introduced and the reader can therefore obtain knowledge about its inner structure and workings. Keywords: structured data extraction, extraction rules, (semi)automatic wrapper induction
SQL query as a PHP object
Vondrák, David ; Holan, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
Title: SQL query as a PHP object Author: David Vondrák Department: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor: RNDr. Tomáš Holan, Ph.D., Department of Software and Computer Science Education Abstract: The thesis deals with creation of PHP classes which represent SQL que- ry as an object, independent of the dialect, and enable to load a query, modify it and write it. The classes can process queries of four types, SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE, and convert them from/into MySQL and PostgreSQL dialects. The query's object representation allows to modify it and retrieve in- formation about the query easily. This fact is utilised while designing a sample application which, after plugging in an PHP application, can record executed SQL queries along with information about tables innvolved in the query and functions responsible for query's execution. Keywords: PHP, SQL, query, object 1
Scheduling program for elementary and secondary schools
Cesar, Robert ; Kopecký, Michal (advisor) ; Lokoč, Jakub (referee)
Rozvrhovatko is a program dedicated for basic and high schools of small or medium size. The employees who are responsible for creating timetables for the school are provided with a simple tool which will save their time every year when they have to construct new timetables. Program can modify output of its generator by many parameters, such as number of lessons per day, required approbations for subjects, size of groups of students or free hours for chosen teachers. Secondary aim of program is to help those employees, who used to schedule everything on papers, to begin with automatic scheduling.

Testing of newly programmed components is an integral part of software development. Data Generator for Microsoft SQL Server is a tool for simple populating database tables with testing data which allows efficient database component testing for programmers, administrators and other database developers. Generated data can be structured using the parameters which are set in a simple user interface. Generated data correspond with database schema and constraints defined on columns. In following text we are going to describe the architecture and implementation details together with the necessary theoretical knowledge.
Tool for NDL
Myazina, Elena ; Richta, Karel (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
Title: Tool for NDL Author: Elena Myazina Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: Doc. Ing. Karel Richta, CSc. Supervisor's Supervisor's e-mail address: richta@ksi.ms.mff.cuni.cz Abstrakt: -Current research networks allow end users to build their own application-specific connections (lightpaths) and Optical Private Networks (OPNs). This requires a clear communication between the requesting application and the network. The Network Description Language (NDL) is a vocabulary designed to describe optical networks based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF). These descriptions aid applications in querying the capabilities of the network and allow them to clearly express requests to the network. This work deals with the analysis of the current draft language NDL systems and optical components. He compares its potential and shortcomings of the proposal seeks. It also proposes a graphical representation corresponding to that language, which implements the graphical tool. The developed tool will allow the subsequent dialogs (voice) applications. Key words: NDL, RDF, optical mapping technology.
