Fieldwork education from perspectives of different actors
Jakouběová, Ivana ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Jelen, Jakub (referee)
Fieldwork is a specific component of education, which has the potential in a more complex demonstration of curriculum especially in the field of geography. We can only assume whether the classical form of fieldwork education is currently in decline, but new opportunities are emerging in the changing educational environment in which fieldwork could be used. This bachelor thesis was written with the aim of finding current potentials, but also the limits of fieldwork education. Based on qualitative research in the form of interviews, we want to answer questions about the ways how is fieldwork education used on different schools and how the main benefits and constraints are perceived directly by the actors of the education system on different levels. The conclusions are compared and discussed with the knowledge from theoretical part of the thesis. Keywords geography, fieldwork education, qualitative research, perception, interview

Monitoring watercourse of Bílina river with concentration on flooding hazard
Jelen, Jakub
Title: Mapping modifications of riverbed Bílina with concentrate on flood risk Abstract Recently, the flood events and related conditions of riverbeds have been a very current topic. The following text deals with the evaluation of different types of anthropogenic interference into natural riverbeds and their surroundings and also anthropogenic landscape changes and their impacts on the hydrological situation of a particular catchment area and potential impacts on the formation and process of the floods. The work presents authors own field mapping methodology. This methodology is compared to the others designed to measure rivers in constant conditions and highlights the potential flood risks. It helps to identify potential risk parts of the river where any flood event could lead to a greater damage. The proposed methodology was tested on a sub-section of the river Bílina, which is further processed by the history of flood events. Later on, the field mapping and photographic documentation of the current situation of the riverbed has been done. Key words floods, risk, methodology, river Bílina, anthropogenic modifications
Performance Analysis of IBM POWER8 Processors
Jelen, Jakub ; Kešner, Filip (referee) ; Jaroš, Jiří (advisor)
This paper describes the IBM Power8 system in comparison to the Intel Xeon processors, widely used in today’s solutions. The performance is not evaluated only on the whole system level but also on the level of threads, cores and a memory. Different metrics are demonstrated on typical optimized algorithms. The benchmarked Power8 processor provides extremely fast memory providing sustainable bandwidth up to 145 GB/s between main memory and processor, which Intel is unable to compete. Computation power is comparable (Matrix multiplication) or worse (N-body simulation, division, more complex algorithms) in comparison with current Intel Haswell-EP. The IBM Power8 is able to compete Intel processors these days and it will be interesting to observe the future generation of Power9 and its performance in comparison to current and future Intel processors.
Wherigo Client for webOS Platform
Jelen, Jakub ; Kubíček, Radek (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
In my thesis I focus on the design of hybrid application for webOS platform and on study and understanding of structure of the Wherigo system from programmer's point of view. I deal with compatibility problems between webOS devices. Another issue is an insufficiency of documentation available for the Wherigo library. The result is fully functional and tested application for Wherigo that meets the requirements and is available in the webOS App Catalog.
HTTP-Request-Based Identification
Jeleň, Jakub ; Pluskal, Jan (referee) ; Polčák, Libor (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the identification using HTTP requests in network traffic. It explains principles of HTTP communications and identification. Additionally the application design is created, which identifies web browser and then this application is implemented. The application is designed as a separate module which can be integrated into projects Moderní prostředky pro boj s kybernetickou kriminalitou na Internetu nové generace. Then are executed experiments with that tool to verify the functionality and utility of this tool.
