Name: Methods evaluating obesity degree in subjects with spinal cord injury The aim of the thesis: The aim of this work is to evaulate the degree of obesity in individuals after spinal cord injury using BMI for ordinary population, BMI adjusted for individuals after spinal cord injury and a percentage of body fat. Metodology: This is an empirical-theoretical work comparing the number of obese individuals after spinal cord injury with the use of different evaluation methods. 200 subjects after spinal cord injury (141 men, 59 women) were enrolled to the reasearch. The percentage of body fat was assessed using the BODYSAT 1500 device. BMI was calculated from body height and weight of the individuals. Results: The processing and subsequent evaluation of the measured data according to different methods found that more than half of the subjects fall into the category of overweight or obesity. In gender comparison, it was found that the majority of male subjecs are overweight or obese. On the other hand, most of the female subjects showed normal weight. It has also been found that paraplegics are more affected by obesity than subjects with tetraplegia (tetraparase). Comparison of percent body fat with adjusted BMI and BMI for the general population showed a better correlation of percent body fat with...

Title: Effect of 6-months exercise program and a diet modification on body composition and posture of overweight middle-aged man Objective: The main objective of this work is to verify the effectiveness of an individual, strenght-focused intervention program on body composition and posture in overweight person without previous exercise experience. Methods: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) was used to determine the body composition. As a complement to this method, waist circumference was measured. To determine the postural stereotype, method of Klein, Thomas and Mayer was used. Rough assessment was also performed by selected functional tests and basic posture analysis conducted by a physiotherapist. All measurements were made before and after the program. The training program was performed as a circuit training during the first month (2 times a week). In the following months strenght training in series (3 times a week) was performed, supplemented with low intensity aerobic exercise. Results: After 6 months of intervention, changes in body composition were detected, showing a 5% loss of adipose tissue and a total body weight reduction of 9.6 kg. This was confirmed also by a considerable reduction in the waist circumference. The effect of the intervention program has also largely manifested...

Title: The Differences in Using the Food Adjuncts During the Speed Canoeists' Training Process in the Czech Republic and in the World. Purposes: To compare the differences in using the food adjuncts between foreign and Czech top high-speed canoeists. Methods: Graphic comparison, based on data gained from questionnaires filled by foreign and Czech top high-speed canoeist kayakers (both males and females), was carried out. Results: Between the Czech and foreign high-speed canoeist we can not find any difference in selected types of food adjuncts. Both groups use vitamins, antioxidants (C, A, B, E, Q 10, multivitamins) and minerals (Mg, Ca, Zn, K, Fe, Na and multiminerals). Both Czech and foreign sportsmen drink sports drinks, saccharide-protein program drinks for quicker activation, matters for support achievement (creatine, L-carnitin and inosine), branched amino acids (BCAA) and stimulants (combination caffeine, guarane and taurine). We can see differences between foreign and Czech high-speed canoeist in choosing suitable type and dosage of particular supplements. While foreign high-speed canoeists usually consult specialists on nourishment or coaches, the Czechs mostly do not. All foreign informants claim to use food adjuncts in contrast to Czech informants. A part of Czech informants don't use...
