Paralelization of Genetic Algorithms
CDN and clustering in GNU/Linux with performance testing
Mikulka, Pavel ; Pelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Šimek, Milan (advisor)
Fault tolerance is essential in a production-grade service delivery network. One of the solution is build a clustered environment to keep system failure to a minimum. This thesis examines the use of high availability and load balancing services using open source tools in GNU/Linux. The thesis discusses some general technologies of high availability computing as virtualization, synchronization and mirroring. To build relatively cheap high availability clusters is suitable DRDB tool. DRDB is tool for build synchronized Linux block devices. This paper also examines Linux-HA project, Redhat Cluster Suite, LVS, etc. Content Delivery Networks (CDN) replicate content over several mirrored web servers strategically placed at various locations in order to deal with the flash crowds. A CDN has some combination a request-routing and replication mechanism. Thus CDNs offer fast and reliable applications and services by distributing content to cache servers located close to end-users. This work examines open-source CDNs Globule and CoralCDN and test performance of this CDNs in global deployment.
Use of fluorescent techniques in study of aerosol deposition
Lippay, Josef ; Jedelský, Jan (referee) ; Mravec, Filip (advisor)
Several experiments were designed for utilization of fluorescence spectroscopy as a method of aerosol particle detection in a model of lungs. One of the experiments was to arranged use luminescent properties of DEHS (bis(2-ethylhexyl)decandioate) for calculating aerosol deposition. The outcome of this experiment was confirmation of clusters existence, which causes luminescence of DEHS. But the luminescence is not enough dependent on concentration and as such is not suitable for calculation of aerosol deposition. As the next experiment DEHS-fluorescein particles were generated by condensation monodisperse aerosol generator (CMAG), where water was used instead of isopropyl alcohol as a solvent. By this alteration the negative influence of DEHS was eliminated, which caused results refinements of aerosol deposition. Generation of fluorescein sodium salt particles by small-scale powder disperser (SSPD) was designed as a last experiment. The lower deposition efficiency measured by this method was caused by particles polydispersion. Photo records were used for documentation of Hot-spots. Outcomes of this study are new knowledge of fluorescence spectroscopy utilization for study of aerosol deposition and possibilities of fluorescent aerosol particles generation. Acquired data can serve for knowledge extension of possible detection methods for aerosol particles in the model of lung and can serve for validation of numerical simulations.
Development of clusters in the Czech Republic
MAJOROVÁ, Petra
The topic of this thesis is Development of clusters in the Czech Republic. The aim of this work was to carry out an analysis by means of the sociological survey, evaluation and analysis of the clusters within regions according to the determination of the importance for the development of the individual regions. The work is divided into two main parts the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part includes information about the clusters, their benefits, processes of formation and development of the clusters, and also their funding. This part is also dedicated to the cluster politics and support of clusters in the Czech Republic. The practical part is based on the results from the sociological survey. The gained data and findings from the survey are processed and demonstrated with the help of diagrams and tables. Another component of the practical part is also division of the clusters according to their existence in territories of individual regions. Besides, their importance for the individual region is assessed as well. The overall communication and cooperation among members of the clusters, the extent of dependence on funding, the benefits of the clusters for the development of a region, and the ways of financing are evaluated in final results within each region.
Application of multi-criteria evaluation for renewal of server infrastructure in a chosen company
Jacunov, Vít ; Doucek, Petr (advisor) ; Klimánek, David (referee)
The aim of this master's thesis is to select a suitable option to replace outdated hardware equipment of the company RR Donnelley Prague s.r.o.. In the theoretical part, terms 'virtualization', 'cloud' and their models are explained. Next, RR Donnelley Prague is described and the current situation in terms of hardware infrastructure and outsourced services is analysed. The practical part contains a recommendation of possible solutions of the situation described and, particularly, a selection of criteria assessed and a multi-criteria evaluation of proposed solutions. To estimate weights of the criteria, a scoring method and a paired comparison method is applied. The multi-criteria evaluation of options uses the weighted sum method and TOPSIS. In the end, results of the applied methods are compared and benefits of the thesis for the company and the author are quantified.
Science and research as a driving force of Israeli economy
Stropkaiová, Aneta ; Stuchlíková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Machytka, Daniel (referee)
Israel, known as Silicon Wadi, has become the second most important technology center in the world. A small country, surrounded by enemies, in a constant state of war since its founding, has become "start-up nation" responsible for helping move mankind forward with technology and science. The aim of the thesis is to find out factors contributing to the success of Israeli technological centers and evaluate the role of research and development in Israeli economy. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter is the theoretical introduction to the economic growth. The second chapter concentrates on factors of economic growth, that influence Israeli economy. The last chapter analyses clasters and start-ups in Israel.
Development and verification of application for support of HACMP clustering education in IBM AIX OS
BENDOVÁ, Dagmar
This thesis describes development and verification of application for support of HACMP clustering education in IBM AIX OS. In fact, development of this application can help students to understand basic functions of this type of cluster. Users, eventually, can verify full function of input configuration cluster in real environment. Ultimately, it can simulate basic cluster function and create basic configuration file, which can be direct apply to operational installation of HACMP software of version 5.3.
