Performance Analysis in IP-Based Industrial Communication Networks

Protecting the population in a social care institution with a large number of people
KOLÁŘOVÁ, Veronika
Thesis topic is "Protecting the population in a social care institution with a large number of people". The theoretical part deals with issues of self-help and simple human assistance perception, which is a cornerstone of protecting the population. It is important to realize that the experience and the memory makes us ready and durable, but also vulnerable and fearful, and that prevention and preparedness are not identical. The thesis describes the history of the civil protection and its current status. These issues are constantly evolving and it is necessary to constantly respond to current threats not only in the area of law-making, but also preventatively and practically. The aim of the thesis is to identify the readiness of the staff in the Home for the elderly in Blatná to a possible outbreak of an emergency or crisis situation. The result of this thesis is to design measures to improve the readiness of personnel in social care institutions with applications for the Home for the elderly in Blatná. To clarify the objectives of the thesis a questionnaire construction was used focused on finding out the level of awareness of the personnel in the field of civil protection. Office staff, technical support, nursing and health care personnel have participated in the research. The research was conducted in June 2015. Collected data are sorted in the chapter "Results" and the results of these investigations are clearly displayed using graphs. The questionnaires were evaluated by descriptive and mathematical statistics. After evaluating the results of the level of awareness of the personnel in the field of protecting the population and after a consultation with the management of the Home for the elderly, a set of measures has been suggested and implemented to improve awareness using presentation. Preparedness and awareness of the staff in the Home for the elderly in Blatná to emergency and crisis situations, identified by questionnaire research was only partial, according to the documents related to protection of the population, and its level should be increased. The thesis can be an inspiration to the desired upgrade of the improving the preparedness of the personnel in the area of civil protection in social care institutions and to desirable change of the inappropriate name of the document dealing with emergency and crisis situations in the Home for the elderly in Blatná. Updates proposal and recommended development of the document are also parts of the thesis. The thesis also suggests measures to deal with the possible emergence of a fire in the clients' kitchenette. By a verification of information obtained from the presentation, which has been held in the Home for the elderly in Blatná in order to increase the level of personnel awareness of the people in the field of civil protection, it was found by identical questionnaires that staff awareness in the social care institution increased very positively. The readiness of social care institution for different emergencies is a very important factor in the managing these situations. By managing or mismanaging one event people are going to manage or mismanage following events.

Analysis of the position and operations of the International monetary fund in the global economy
Hromádka, Jan ; Žamberský, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis analyzes how IMFs operations transformed as the changes took place in the global economy after world war two. Policy and means used by IMF to achieve its purposes are examined focusing on their effectiveness. The analysis illustrates an apparent change in the role the institution is playing in the global economy. In the first three decades after the world war two the IMFs key role was to maintain surveillance over the rules of the monetary system established at international financial conference in Bretton Woods. The introduction of floating exchange rate systems in developed countries, oil crisis and independence of many African countries caused a shift in IMFs main focus towards developing countries, long-term financing and technical assistance. The analysis concludes that the institution was only in part successful in its mission to maintain global economic stability only in part. In the nineties it reacted promptly to financial crisis by introduction of new facilities and by activating in coordination with other global players of large financial support for the affected countries. However in the period before the financial crisis occurred more attention IMF should have given more attention to precautionary measures eliminating the risks associated with capital volatility.

The impacts of destructive floods of 1997 to the population of the affected areas in the Morava River basin
Klímová, Alžběta
The fundamental characteristic of floods in 1997 was a complete lack of readiness of relevant institutions and inhabitants. Flood rules practically nonexistent, and if so, nobody is disregarded. This occurred primarily because of disruption in the perception of the risk of flooding, for various reasons, at the risk of forgetting. The major reasons were: very long period no huge flooding, excessive reliance on technical progress, building homes in river floodplains, reliance on state assistance.

Gas Microsensors Based on Self-Organized 3D Metal-Oxide Nanofilms
Pytlíček, Zdeněk ; Husák, Miroslav (referee) ; Kolařík, Vladimír (referee) ; Prášek, Jan (advisor)
This dissertation concerns the development, fabrication and integration in a gas sensing microdevice of a novel 3-dimensional (3D) nanostructured metal-oxide semiconducting film that effectively merges the benefits of inorganic nanomaterials with the simplicity offered by non-lithographic electrochemistry-based preparation techniques. The film is synthesized via the porous-anodic-alumina-assisted anodizing of an Al/Nb metal bilayer sputter-deposited on a SiO2/Si substrate and is basically composed of a 200 nm thick NbO2 layer holding an array of upright-standing spatially separated Nb2O5 nanocolumns, being 50 nm wide, up to 900 nm long and of 8109 cm2 population density. The nanocolumns work as semiconducting nano-channels, whose resistivity is greatly impacted by the surface and interface reactions. Either Pt or Au patterned electrodes are prepared on the top of the nanocolumn array using an innovative sensor design realized by means of microfabrication technology or via a direct original point electrodeposition technique, followed by selective dissolution of the alumina overlayer. For gas-sensing tests the film is mounted on a standard TO-8 package using the wire-bonding technique. Electrical characterization of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm reveals asymmetric electron transport properties due to a Schottky barrier that forms at the Au/Nb2O5 or Pt/Nb2O5 interface. Effects of the active film morphology, structure and composition on the electrical and gas-sensing performance focusing on sensitivity, selectivity, detection limits and response/recovery rates are explored in experimental detection of hydrogen gas and ammonia. The fast and intensive response to H2 confirms the potential of the 3D niobium-oxide nanofilm as highly appropriate active layer for sensing application. A computer-aided microfluidics simulation of gas diffusion in the 3D nanofilm predicts a possibility to substantially improve the gas-sensing performance through the formation of a perforated top electrode, optimizing the film morphology, altering the crystal structure and by introducing certain innovations in the electrode design. Preliminary experiments show that a 3D nanofilm synthesized from an alternative Al/W metal bilayer is another promising candidate for advanced sensor applications. The techniques and materials employed in this work are advantageous for developing technically simple, cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions for practical micro- and nanodevices, where the well-defined nano-channels for charge carriers and surface reactions may bring unprecedented benefits.
