The impact of immigration on wages in the Czech Republic
Všetičková, Simona ; Potužák, Pavel (advisor) ; Brožová, Dagmar (referee)
This paper examines the impact of immigration on the labour market. The first part summarizes the theoretical aspects of immigration and its impact on wages and employment. It compares two different approaches to research immigration, the aggregate labour market model and the regional labour market model. Following these approaches, the econometric models are constructed. The empirical section tries to verify the assumption that immigration has negative impact on wages. The data used in regression are valid for the Czech Republic for the period of 2004-2010. The tested assumption was rejected on basis of the model results. The impact of immigration on the average wages in the Czech Republic was positive according to the aggregate labour market model.

It analyzes the employer's obligation to employee from the establishment to the termination of their working relationship. It focuses on personal and payroll administration, calculation of wages and their accounting. The thesis also describes payments of self-employed person to the national budget and to the budgets of health insurance companies. These payments are compared with staff costs. The result is, that the self-employed person pays less than employer and employee to the budgets.
Human capital in the public sector in terms of wages and return on investment in tertiary education and its comparison with the private sector
Ernegrová, Blanka ; Urbánek, Václav (advisor) ; Krebs, Vojtěch (referee) ; Široký, Jan (referee)
The aim of this dissertation thesis is an analysis and comparison of the wages and the wage differentials between public and private sectors in the Czech Republic for the years 2008 and 2009, including an analysis of influence of the individual factors (education, length of experience, age and region) on the level of wages in public and private sectors and how the wage differentials affect the size of wage differentials between workers with tertiary and secondary education and the private rate of return on investment in education in the public and private sectors. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter provides an overview of economic theories and research on human capital, wage differentials and the private rate of return on investment in education. The second chapter is focused on analysis and comparison of the public and private sectors wages for the years 2008 a 2009 using descriptive statistics, the ANOVA analysis, Tukey's multiple comparison and regression analysis. The third chapter is concentrated on the calculation of wage differentials and on the calculation of private rate of return to investment in education of public and private sector using Mincer equation and Elaborated method. The result of this dissertation thesis is the finding that the influence of individual factors on the level of wages in the public sector is different from the private sector and that the private rate of return to investment in tertiary education in the public sector is smaller than in the private sector.
Analysis of impact of social benefits on the crime rate
Suchý, Dobromil ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Chytil, Zdeněk (referee)
In this bachelor thesis I concern myself with the relationship between the height of social benefits and the rate of property crime. In the theoretical part I construct a verbal model where I show that the benefits can influence the property crime in both ways. Subsequently I examine this effect by regression analysis with data from 14 districts of the Czech Republic from the years 2005 to 2010. I discover that the height of social benefits did influence the number of burglary in a positive way - that is, the higher the social benefits, the higher criminality rate there was. I did not prove any infulence of the height of the social benefits on the number of thefts.
Econometric Analysis of Microeconomic Processes. Application on Wages in the Czech Republic
Kalčevová, Jana ; Pánková, Václava (advisor) ; Arlt, Josef (referee) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis is focused on wages models on the czech labor market in 1996 and 2002. Wages models are built on non-trivial mathematical background and parameters of given models are estimated by methods based on sum of squared residuals and also not often used quantile regression. The quantile regression theory is described in the thesis together with test statistics. Properties of estimations, demonstration examples and proposal of practical application are also indroduced. The theory was applied to two large-size data-files, recieved results show the difference between years 1996 and 2002; a comparison with European Union countries is also given.

Wages and crime
Podlenová, Marcela ; Brožová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Hlaváč, Petr (referee)
A lot of papers on the relationship between crime and labor market focused on the link between crime and unemployment. The target of this paper is to explore the dependence of property crime rate on wages in all regions of the Czech Republic in 2005 -- 2009. I use data that comes from annual statistics of Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Labor. Property crime is the sum of thefts (including car theft), burglary and robbery. The result is that property crime rate rather depends on changes in wages. Falls in overall level of wages increases property crime rate. In this paper I estimate models with different wage measures, different deterrence effect measures and I examine the dependence of each part of property crime separately. Most dependent on the wages is car theft.
