Study of 137Cs, 90Sr and 3H behaviour in hydrosphere in vicinity of Nuclear Power Plant Temelin
Ivanovová, Diana
The thesis focuses on an analysis of the results of long-term monitoring of the concentrations of 137 Cs, 90 Sr and 3 H in hydrosphere in the vicinity of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. The monitoring was carried out during the period 1990-2008 subsequently in several projects, which include Research of impacts of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant on hydrosphere and other components of the environment (National project no. N 03-331-867), Research on impacts of nuclear facilities on the environment (VaV/510/1/96), Strategy and methodology of integrated studies of long-term trends in landscape development in close and wide vicinity of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (VaV/640/8/03), Programme on monitoring and assessment of impacts of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant on the environment, and Monitoring for Czech Power Works, a.s., Nuclear Power Plant. The thesis was carried out in T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, public research institution. The radionuclides were monitored in surface water, river sediments, aquatic flora and fish species. The main objective of the thesis was to analyse and integrate all of the knowledge on concentrations and behaviour of these radionuclides, which originate mainly from residual contamination, in order to assess the impacts of Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (Temelín plant) on...

The thesis deals with the issue of nuclear energy. Within thesis we focus on attitude of Germany, Japan, Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. We assess their energy policy and transition to renewable energy. The first chapter deals with importance of nuclear energy in European Union. The second chapter is focused on new opportunities in the energy sector and concept of smart cities. The third chapter analyzes the energy of Japan, the fourth chapter the energy of Germany and the fifth chapter is focused on energy of Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.

Radon Study of a Sample of Chosen Municipalities of South Bohemia - Measurment, Results Analysis and Inhabitants´ Perception of Risk
NOVÁKOVÁ, Andrea
Radon Study of a Sample of Chosen Municipalities of South Bohemia - Measurment, Results Analysis and Inhabitants´ Perception of Risk The topic of my diploma thesis is radon study of a sample of chosen municipalities of South Bohemia - measurment, results analysis and inhabitants´ perception of risk. Czech inhabitants anxiety about radioactivity is usually focused on artificial sources of radiation, mainly on nuclear radiation. However, most of the irradiation of people is caused by natural radiation, espacially by radon. Within my diploma thesis I distributed 100 of detectors to measure volume activity of radon. After about six months I collected data to be processed. During the time of measuring I got know lots of people and I used the possibility to talk to them. That is why one of the aims of my thesis was to assess reaction of people to radon, to values of radon measured in their houses, people´s fears or indolence. I also tried to make the problem of radon easier to larger amount of inhabitants and I tried to make them understand this problem. I intended to inform people about results of radon radiation on human body. Main goal of my diploma thesis was to process data of volume activity of radon which were measured in the premises, to compare these data with the radon index of subsoil and to set a relation between volume activity of radon and other parameters as the age of the premises, contact with subsoil, tightness of windows, construction material used, and water source.

Small-punch test of structural steels at low temperatures
Němčíková, Eva ; Hůlka, Jiří (referee) ; Hadraba, Hynek (advisor)
Diploma thesis is focused on comparison of small punch test results and tensile test results. For experiments were chosen steel P91, 10Ch2MFA, 20CrNi2MoV, 11 416 and 42 2707. These steel are used in nuclear power engineering, or they were developed for this purpose. Basic mechanical characteristics, namely ultimate tensile stress and yield stress, were evaluated from small punch test records of observed materials. This is done via convenient correlation relationships. Obtained values were compared with values obtained by conventional tensile tests. There are mentioned own suggested correlation relationships and comparison of temperature curves gained from small punch test and tensile test in the thesis. Assessment of microstructure of observed materials and analysis of fracture surfaces was provided as well. It was found out, that for assessing basic mechanical characteristics (ultimate tensile stress and yield stress) is the best to suggest own correlation relationships, instead of using universal relationships from literature. The fracture mechanism of all types of assessed steel was ductile in entire temperature range (up to -40 °C).

Dukovany nuclear power station. Geomorphological analysis of the closer area
Roštínský, Pavel
Geomorphological analysis of selected phenomena in the south-eastern area of the Dukovany nuclear power station (both the existing and new planned production units) – topographic arrangement, surface inclination, topolineaments, setting of fluvial sedeiments. The study was elaborated requested by ČEZ corporation (main Czech energetic producer) in connection with the assessment of seismic hazard of the numerous transverse WNW–ESE structures to the plant.

Dukovany nuclear power station. Paleoseismological survey of the planned new nuclear unit (Diendorf – Boskovice Fault). Research of transverse lineaments
Špaček, P. ; Roštínský, Pavel ; Tábořík, P. ; Valenta, J.
An evaluation of current geological knowledge on numerous transverse NW–SE to WNW–ESE structures in the wider area of the Dukovany nuclear power plant, surving as base for a proposal of detailed works leading to assessment of their sesimic hazard (for the operator of this plant – main Czech energetic producer ČEZ corporation). Primary geophysical survey across a few selected elements of the respective main trend was completed.

Application possibilities of systems with heat accumulation in nuclear power
Sklenářová, Lenka ; Maar, Tomáš (referee) ; Martinec, Jiří (advisor)
This dissertation covers the application of heat accumulation systems in nuclear power engineering, namely in nuclear power plants. It is mainly a case of passive emergency systems, whose task is to accumulate the heat produced in the reactor’s active zone and in spent fuel pools during DBA (design-basis accidents) or beyond DBA. A particular example of heat accumulation is steam condensation after LOCA (loss of coolant accident). The primary circuit steam leakage increases containment pressure and has to be decreased by the steam condensation. This thesis deals with a theoretical substitute for ice condensers, which are used as a passive safety measure in some nuclear power plants. The substitute involves a choice of an alternative material, whose melting temperature (for heat accumulation) is closer to nuclear power plant operating temperatures. The other part of the dissertation discusses heat accumulation in spent fuel pools in case of all cooling systems failure.

Phylogenetic relationships and population structure of coccidia in rodent families Muridae and Arvicolidae
MÁCOVÁ, Anna
Population structure and phylogenetic relationships were studied in coccidia parasitizing the rodent families Muridae and Arvicolidae, in 40 localities in 14 European countries. Sequences of mitochondrial gene for cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) and nuclear 18S rRNA gene (SSU) were used for phylogenetic analyses and for reconstruction of evolutionary relationships among coccidian species.
