Main purpose of this thesis is to explain the issue of waste heat from broader point of view. It´s substantial part therefore deals with various available methods of waste heat utilization and their analysis. Large part of the thesis is devoted to description and usage of heat exchangers, heat pumps and thermal energy storage. The main theme of the thesis is the use of waste heat from industrial laundry room. It also introduces the process of the professional maintenance service along with its specifications and parameters of waste streams from washing machines. Main goal of the practical part of the thesis is to design equipment which could be used to store waste heat from washing machines. This equipment is designed to be used for specific process in NETME Centre laboratory. In conclusion, thesis addresses the propposed equipment from the energetical and economical point of view.
Design HRSG 0,8Nm3/s, 450°C
Hatiar, Peter ; Kól, Přemysl (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with the issue of design heat recovery steam generator. In the first part is realized calculation of stoichiometry and further the thermal balance of the boiler. The boiler was divided on the basis of thermal analysis in two heating surfaces that have been designed separately. The thesis also includes structural design and drawings of evaporator, economizer and their compilation.
ORC cycle for waste heat utilizing
Vítek, Stanislav ; Svoboda, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this diploma work is the study and the modeling of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). Organic Rankine Cycle is used for heat recovery from low-potential heat sources. Their working fluid is a refrigerant or a hydrocarbon whose properties are adapted to the conditions in which the heat recovery is performed. The other chapters include the technical resolution of exhaust-heat exchanger of cogeneration unit for application ORC and partially economic study use in Czech Republic.
Heat layout of heating power plant with cogeneration unit 1600kWe
Buřil, Tomáš ; Kól, Přemysl (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
Main target of this master´s thesis is a projection of a thermal circuit of a heating plant, which uses waste heat of a cogeneration unit with power of 1600 kWe. Electric power of a cogeneration unit is supplemented with an electric power produced from a waste heat. All heat is further used for heating in a warm water heating system. Within this thesis are executed projections of a thermal circuit of a heating plant, choice of particular devices, determination of a thermal power of devices and also determination of conditions of particular heat – transferring substances. Furthermore, design of particular devices is made, mainly for basic dimensions and heat transfer.
HVAC in a production plant
Černík, Václav ; Hejčík, Jiří (referee) ; Charvát, Pavel (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with heating and HVAC in production plant ELMET, spol. s r.o. The first part of the thesis concerns reconstruction of the central heating system, which is outdated and unreliable in the time of the writing of the thesis. The second part deals with cooling of mounting of electronics, where technological requirements are not met due to summer overheating. The third part of the thesis concerns ventilation of metalworking hall using waste heat from production machines.
Increasing of electricity production in BGS using ORC cycle
Beck, Michal ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
Objective of this Master’s thesis is to make search about generation and use biogas, with focus on cogeneration and to make search about possibilities of increasing the share of production of electricity by cogeneration from biogas. This final work has also the task to summarize possibilities of increasing the share with ORC cycle and to evaluate pros and cons of this use. Main part of this work is dealing with own design of increasing production of electricity with cogeneration from biogas in biogas station with ORC cycle and comparing this modification with steam engine.
Increasing of electricity production in BGS using steam engine
Nahodil, Jiří ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with the possibilities of using waste heat for power generation with a focusing on biogas plants (BGS). The produced biogas is mainly used for combustion in cogeneration units with internal combustion piston engines. The first part this paper describes the biogas plants. The division of BGS and the biogas processing is mentioned there. Another part is focused on the combined production of electricity and heat. The principles and description various types of cogeneration technologies are presented here. The following are specific options for waste heat utilization for biogas plants. The last section contains proposals to increase electricity production by the BGS with the steam engine and economic evaluation of these proposals is made.
Utilization of waste heat for heating and hot water
Dvouletý, Tomáš ; Jaroš, Michal (referee) ; Katolický, Jaroslav (advisor)
The thesis aims to design a device for utilization of waste heat for heating and hot water in NETME Centre in area of FSI VUT in Brno. First of all there is summary of available sources of waste heat and evaluation of serviceability. Next there is design of a device for utilization of waste heat. Design incluades calculation of heat exchangers and selection of particular heat exchangers. It also incluades design of duct system which anables transportation of heated water from heat exchangers to machine room. In machine room is situated storage tank for accumulation of gained waste heat. This storage tank is conected to heating system and to consumption of hot water which anables utilization of waste heat. Finally there is economic evaluation based on amount of gained waste heat, consumption of heat and costs.
Cooling of Data Center
Ostrezi, Jakub ; Katolický, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design data center placed into an ISO container used for transportation. Maximization of the space efficiency and minimization of the running costs are primary. This work also contains a measurement of data center electronic parts power consumption, a computational fluid dynamics model, a simulation of external thermal gains and a 3D model with basic technical drawings.
Thermoelectric Power Generation System
Brázdil, Marian ; Nerud, Pavel (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
In the last decade there is a rising interest in thermoelectric applications. Thermoelectric generators enabling the direct conversion of the heat into the electricity become attractive. This fact is caused by the demands of environmental operation and saving primary resources. Scientists intensively investigate and develop new materials and structures suitable for these applications. The efficiency of the thermoelectric conversion progressively increases. Unfortunately we have no available materials with sufficient thermoelectric properties which could provide cost-competitive price. Thermoelectric generators seem to be useable devices. For example, in case of the unused waste heat using of the thermoelectric generator can increase the overall effectiveness of the unit despite the low efficiency of the generator. This master thesis deals with the issue of the Peltier modules representing the main part of the thermoelectric generators. The physical principles and structures of the thermoelectric modules and the possibility of thermoelectric power production are described here. In the practical part of this thesis the design of the low power generator utilizing waste heat from biomass boiler Verner A 251.1 is proposed.
