The Way of the Client after Spinal Cord Injury
Kohoutková, Lucie ; Stretti, Sylvie (advisor) ; Ondrušová, Jiřina (referee)
The aim of this work is to show what humane after spinal cord injury get through and what is the impact of acquired disability in the future. First, I discuss the level of health and physical consequences of the spinal cord injury. The following chapter is focused on the psychosocial impact of injuries and subsequent paralysis. On the section describing the body and mind follows the third chapter that focuses on hospital and rehabilitation care. The fourth chapter is devoted to social work with clients after spinal cord injury and the last chapter deals with life after the accident when a client is discharged from hospital and rehabilitation facilities, and begins a new life. To illustrate the issue I applied a case report of a woman after the accident and evaluate questionnaires that I sent people after an accident with a higher degree of disability.
Mesenchymal stem cells for treatment of spinal cord injury
Dubišová, Jana ; Kubinová, Šárka (advisor) ; Hock, Miroslav (referee)
Poranenie miechy a jeho terapia pomocou mezenchymálnych kmeňových buniek Abstract Patients with serious spinal cord injury (SCI) have a little chance of a full return to their original life. This kind of injuries leaves lifelong consequences as on the patients themselves, as well as their surroundings and family. Considerable financial resources are, worldwide, granted for reintegratation of these patients into society. This work focuses on the description of spinal cord injury, its complexity and the possibility of treatment by new therapeutic methods of mesenchymal cells. The first section discusses the severity of spinal cord injury and its pathophysiology with the performance of subsequent clinical phases. The second part is dedicated to new treatment methods and approaches, with an emphasis on cell therapy. The third part presents treatment method using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, such as their ability to migration to the injured area and the possibility of genetic modification, made them a great candidates for the treatment of serious injuries. Pathological consequences of hypokinesis in paraplegic patient and their identification by TVS method
Vavrová, Dominika ; Jelen, Karel (advisor) ; Čichoň, Rostislav (referee)
Thesis title: Pathological consequences of hypokinesis in paraplegic patient and their identification by TVS method The thesis focus: The focus of the thesis was to identify and classify differences of mechanical properties of axial systems between paraplegic patient and people from healthy population. Secondary focus of the thesis was to identify and classify changes of mechanical properties of axial system in paraplegic patient depending on physiotherapeutic intervention. The research methods: Three people, one paraplegic person and two healthy people were measured with TVS (Transfer Vibration Through Spine) method. Paraplegic person was measured twice, before and after one hour long physiotherapeutic intervention (PI). Healthy people were measured once, without PI. TVS method is a diagnostic apparatus that enables qualitative and quantitative classification of properties of axial skeleton and its segments. It is based on fact that velocity of mechanical waves and density of mechanical energy transmitting through axial skeleton is affected by properties of this system. Thus we were able to analyze and identify mechanical properties of measured axial systems according to differences of input and output values of acceleration on particular spinous processes. The results: When we compared frequency...
The incidence and context of alcohol use of persons after spinal cord injury
Horáková, Dominika ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vavrinčíková, Lenka (referee)
The topic of this thesis is use of alcohol in people after spinal cord injury, who form a specific group of people with disabilities. Objectives of the research work The objective of this thesis is to describe the incidence and rate of alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury and find any specifics of alcohol use for this target group. As well as describe motives and reasons for alcohol use, specifics of individual diagnoses, find and define health problems related to alcohol use in people after spinal cord injury. Last but not least, find out whether in this specific group individuals with symptoms of harmful alcohol use (alcohol abuse) or addiction to alcohol appear. Sample file Participants of research (sample file) in this thesis are people after spinal cord injury who are members of the civic association CZEPA. The main objective of this association is to defend the rights and interests of people after spinal cord injury and strives for their full integration into society. Data processing methods With an electronic questionnaire (self-questionnaire in combination with the AUDIT questionnaire) frequency and intensity of alcohol use, seriousness of alcohol intake, health state and other consequences ware measured in people after spinal cord injury. The data were analyzed by the IBM SPSS...
Nursing care after spinal injury followed by plegia from the view of the patient and his family.
ČELOUDOVÁ, Nela
This thesis focuses on nursing care after a spinal injury which is followed by paralysis from the patient's and his family's point of view. Spinal or spinal cord injury is a very serious disability that influences patient's life. Depending on the type of the injury and its location in the spinal segments, loss of motoric, sensory and autonomous functions occurs. The nursing care for patients with spinal injuries is a very complicated and long term matter as much for the nursing personnel as for the patients themselves. Two goals were set for this thesis. The first one was to find out if the family is ready for taking care of a paralysed patient in a home environment post hospital release. Second goal was focusing on how patients with post injury paralysis perceive nursing care. The bachelor thesis was processed using qualitative research. The data was collected using the method of semi-structured interviews of patients with paralysis caused by spinal injuries and their family members. The results of the research show that the awareness of family members is small and the information submitted is considered insufficient. Information was missing both form the nursing care and administrative point of view. In addition, the research shows that patients with post-traumatic plegia are satisfied with the nursing care provided and that the communication with nurses is evaluated positively. Another piece of information resulting from the research is that the patient's family was prepared for home care of a paralysed individual only partially and the most significant complications come from the technical side of preparedness. This thesis is outlining the awareness of patients and their families after a spinal injury occurs. It is focusing on caring for the patients in their home environment, in a hospital or a rehabilitation facility.

Ottová, Monika ; Levínská, Markéta (advisor) ; Smetáčková, Irena (referee)
TITLE: Coping with sudden motility limitation and its implication - coping strategies among young people with spinal cord injury and with multiple sclerosis SUMMARY: This thesis is focused on process of adjustment of motility limitation, caused by spinal cord injury or by attack of multiple sclerosis, among young people. The motoric ability limitation affects their mobility as well as their social interaction, interests, plans and especially their independence. Thus, in age of gaining emancipation from nuclear family, they become dependant on their home-folks again. Life of clients after spinal cord injury
Kudláková, Anna ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Prokop, Jiří (referee)
TITLE: Life of clients after spinal cord injury AUTHOR: Anna Kudláková DEPARTMENT: Katedra pedagogiky SUPERVIZOR: PhDr. Jaroslava Hanušová Ph.D. The theme of final work is "Life of clients after spinal cord injury". The aim of my work was mapping individuals with this injury. Study and then sort and provide compact information of the issue. At the same time try role of handicapped client through fixed rules experiment. Thanks to experiment gain unbiased information from one day life of man on wheelchair. Later, trough quantitative analysis, this information confront with feelings of actually handicapped people. Initial point for quantitative analysis was a survey, which was made not only in organizations engage with this issue. Respondents were chosen randomly, their age range was 26-50 years, social or other status wasn't determining. Question form was based on hypotheses defined in advance, which were after decoding earned dates in most cases confirmed.
