Electromobility, today and vision

The main target of this bachelor thesis is to create an overview of current and future status of electromobility in the Czech Republic, including an analysis of possible impacts of this developing field to other sectors, especially energy industry and ecology. This work is divided into several sections. The first part is research and it deals with general knowledge related to electromobility at first and then it analyzes the current situation in our country. The electric vehicle charging and electromobility support are discussed in detail. The second part of the thesis focuses on the influence of electromobility growth on the power system and on the electromobile emission footprint. These chapters are based on self calculations and the results are evaluated at the end. The conclusion summarizes the findings and there is a comment about upcoming development of electromobility in the future.

I have elaborated my bachelor thesis on the topic "Analysis of the current level of electromobility development in the Czech Republic". The aim of the bachelor thesis was not only to introduce electromobility and the most important representatives of electric vehicles, but also to find out the public not attitude to this topic. What reasons do they discourage buying an electric car? What are the myths about electromobility? Which demographic group is in favor of electromobility and which is not? And other questions are the subject of this work. In order to answer these questions, it was necessary to draw up a questionnaire first, then to spread it to the public and to answer the quality representative sample of the population. The results showed that for many people the high purchase price as well as the underdeveloped network of charging stations is a limitation. Inadequate state support, for example in the form of subsidies, is not seen as an obstacle.

This thesis deals with the benefits of operating electromobiles in terms of the sustainable development of automobile transportation. My thesis includes the description of basic technical operation systems of electrically-powered automobiles and the possibility of replacing the classical automobiles with combustion engines by electromobiles. In my thesis, there are listed and explained the basic principles and ideas of electromobility as one of the possible solutions of environmental protection in the Czech Republic, as well as ways of ensuring the energetic independence in the automobile transportation.

This work is about problems connected with electromobility. It deals with the development and operation of electric vehicles. In this thesis there are explained the basic concepts during it's historical development to the present. The main focus of the thesis is the determination of the factors that are linked to the development and operation of electric vehicles in the Czech Republic, such as the readiness of the distribution network, transport infrastructure and suitable facilities of charging stations. It deals with the issue of what electromobility involves and what are the main reasons and visions for the complete replacement of electromobiles by combustion engines. The first part of this work describes the historical development of electromobility, from it's beginning until the present time, when electromobility is the main motoristic theme for the sustainable development of car traffic. The second part describes the complete construction of electric vehicles and its advantages. Furthermore, the current state of electromobility in the Czech Republic and the assumption of it's future development. The final, third part is practical. There are described the individual tested electric cars in terms of utility value for the end consumer and energy intensity. The measured values show a comparison of the tested vehicles.

In the first part, the thesis focuses on the reasons why the topic of electromobility is developing and why there is the effort to change the fleet for vehicles powered by alternative fuels. The thesis continues with a section dealing with electricity sources. There are various ways of generating electricity and the prognosis in which direction this area is going. In the next step the thesis deals with the problem of charging the batteries. This topic is one of the factors that hamper the development and many people consider this as the greatest threat. The thesis shows whether the concerns are well founded and which charging options exist. The level of electromobility in the Czech Republic is not the best so it is necessary to look at inspirational examples from other countries. Another topic of this thesis explains why there is such a situation in the Czech Republic and afterwards there are analysed negative and positive factors influencing the development of electromobility. In October 2015, the Ministry of Industry and Trade awarded a national action plan for clean mobility, which analyses the electromobility directions for the coming years. The next section shows the real values of how electric vehicles are being sold in the Czech Republic and what the development of sales is. In addition, the attitude of the domestic automaker to electromobility is stated. In conclusion, the thesis focuses on the views of various specialists and owners of electric cars, why they think that the development of electromobility is not as rapid as in other countries. In the practical part of the thesis there is introduced the BMW i3S electric car. This electric vehicle was loaned in a ACR auto a.s company for the purpose of this work and it was tested for various aspects that are crucial to electromobiles.
Agent-Based Analysis of Market Potential for Electric Vehicles in the Czech Republic

This study explores the economical, ecological, and social impact of poten- tial rise of the number of electric vehicles in the Czech Republic. For this purpose, the methodology of agent-based modelling and cost-benefit analysis is used. Particularly, a simple agent-based model in the NetLogo software is created and calibrated to the Czech environment. It enables us to examine the impact of possible policies aimed at increasing electric vehicles' market potential. Results of the cost-benefit analysis suggest that under the current Czech conditions, over their whole life cycle, electric vehicles produce less CO2 emissions in comparison to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles and thus, are more ecological. With the actual policy without any financial incentives, however, electric vehicles' total costs connected to their purchase, usage and maintenance for an average Czech consumer are still higher com- pared to conventional vehicles. If the government would intend to signific- antly increase electric vehicles' market share, both financial incentives and policies making their everyday usage easier are suggested to be implemented. Bachelor thesis engages in electromobility. It starts with a relationship of electric cars and environment, continues with history, conception of electric cars, and a practical part, where concrete car models that are sold in the Czech republic, are evaluated. It includes technical parameters, and also features multi-criterion evaluation regarding electric car models. Thesis also presents common depen-dency of single parameters.
Electromobility – market and potential in Czech Republic

This master thesis deals with electromobility - market and potential in Czech Republic. The objective is to evaluate the situation and development of electromobility in Czech Republic via qualitative and quantitative research. That includes potential customers as well as owners of electric cars, operators of charging points, distributors of electricity, car manufactures and ministries. The basis is the comparison with leading countries in electromobility, including sales of electric cars, infrastructure and state incentives. The thesis consists of two parts. The theoretical part introduces innovations and challenges in electromobility and key factors of its success. The second part is analyzing details about individual countries empirically and via personal interviews with experts. Finally a complete overview of reasons and barriers for buying an electric car are presented together with building charging stations, a SWOT for electric cars, its infrastructure and timeline of perspective for the development of electromobility in the Czech Republic until 2030 with a recommendation of target groups for Porsche Česká republika, s.r.o.. It was found, that the situation of electromobility in Czech Republic is satisfactory and that the price is the main motive (cost savings) and barrier (price of the car) for the short-term growth. Electromobility will be developing in Czech Republic and has a great potential.
Willingness to pay for electricity-driven passenger vehicles

This thesis analyses stated preferences for 4 different types of passenger ve- hicles (conventional, hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric vehi- cles). The discrete choice experiment survey was conducted in Poland in 2014. With the use of latent class model it was possible to identify and describe dis- tinct segments in the population with varying preferences for the propulsion technologies: groups with strong and weak preferences for conventional vehi- cles, segments preferring pure hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and a class in favour of battery electric vehicles. Even though it was found that on average consumers would require compensation up to 22,200zł (e5,311) to switch to using an electric vehicle, respective segments in the population would be willing to pay around 10,100zł (e2,417) for this change in case of pure hy- brid, around 21,400zł (e5,128) in case of plug-in hybrid, and around 92,800zł (e22,199) in case of battery electric vehicles.

This masters thesis aims to assess and evaluate the potential of home based energy storage systems for the final user. In theoretical part it therefore describes the historical development of the European power sector with the purpose of determining, what was the impact of this development on products offered by energy providers to the final consumers of electricity. Findings from this analysis are then used to design a model, which is introduced and described in the practical part of the masters thesis. This model is afterwards used to assess the profitability of home batteries implementation by three different types of households and also to determine, what are the key drivers and constraints for the adoption of energy storage systems by households.
