Selected Aspects of Animal Breeding at Primary Schools
Boučková, Veronika ; Andreska, Jan (referee) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Title Selected Aspects of Animal Breeding at Primary Schools Abstract Content of the work is based on my diploma thesis. It is focused on the most problematic parts of a settlement of school breeding. The theoretical part of my thesis is based on a study of specialized literature and interview. It describes history and present state of breeding, especially school breeding. The second part of the thesis is devoted to the basis of school breedings. First of all, there is a survey of a complicated legislation in the field of interest breeding, which discourages teachers from breeding. The next chapter contains information concerning health hazards for students, especially about allergy and phobias. That is why a special attention is focused on problems of suitable species for school breeding in the next chapter. The last chapter contains inspiration for teachers in writing of Gerald Durrell.
The role of juvenile hormone in ontogeny of burying beetles (Coleoptera: Silphidae)
Máslo, Petr ; Šípek, Petr (advisor) ; Hanus, Robert (referee)
Burying beetles play an important role in ecosystems by removal of cadavers of small vertebrates. By competing other necrophagous insects and micro-organisms, they may contribute to reducing health risks. They are also interesting for their complex parental care of offspring. This paper describes the role of the juvenile hormone in the life history of burying beetles, breeding and parental care in particular.
Zoorehabilitation in process of education
Bravencová, Jana ; Jančaříková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kropáčková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with breeding and visiting programs with animals (options, reasons, positives and negatives, evaluation of parents and staff) in kindergartens in the two most populous regions in the Czech Republic. Further it provides an in depth analysis of influence of selected invertebrate animals on preschool children in two specified kindergartens and looks into parent's attitudes and evaluation of animal breeding in the chosen classes. It is a combinated empirical applied research whose methods are directly participated unstructured observation of individuals or groups, video recording, explorative method - questionnaire (for the children's parents in the class and for the kindergartens) and analysis of qualitative data from the questionnaires and evaluation of the results. The thesis is divided into three parts according to the target group on which the research is focused. Both the results and the specified literature confirm the importance of continuous presense of animals in the proximity of preschool aged children in several areas of their personality development (emotions, environmental feelings, communication, motivation, responsibility, thoughtfulness, concentration, attention, senses, interest, calming down, cognition - the cycle of life and animal characteristics). Staff and...
MMěření emisí tuhých znečišťujících látek v intenzivních chovech drůbeže
ŠONKA, Jan
There is a large number of contaminants in the air coming from agricultural activities that affects our environment. One of the major producers of contaminants is caused by poultry farming. These agents can be called a carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and dust. The aim of this thesis is to determine the value of PM10 concentration in poultry farming. These particles can damage not only animals' health but also the one of farm staff, because they are able to get behind the respiratory tract. Measurements were carried out in a poultry farm in Sudoměřice u Bechyně according to valid methodology by measuring the emissions of dust particles in poultry for the integrated pollution prevention and control. The device used for measuring purposes was DUST TRAK 8530 II. The resulting values were compared with the ones that are listed in table 5.15 on page 157 of the document Final TWG meeting for review of the IRPP BREF.
Characteristics of cultivar composition of lupine in the Czech Republic
VOKURKA, Ondřej
This work deals through the method of library research with the current state and options of lupines growing in the Czech Republic, with a closer look on their cultivar composition. Initial characterisation of the vast genus Lupinus and chapters about history, contemporary significance and utilisation of lupine are followed by detailed botanical description of cultural species of this genus. Special attention is given to the growing season, as it is a significant factor that influences the potential of lupines growing in the Czech Republic. The following chapters deal with necessary facts about the habitat requirements of particular lupine species and the agrotechnical principles followed when growing lupines. Then the particular species are examined according to their significance, botanical description and environmental demands. The research concludes with a sketch of the breeding trends and characterisation of the available cultivar composition, including description of lupine varieties currently registered in the Czech Republic.
Body mass changes during breeding in birds
Drekslerová, Šárka ; Hořák, David (advisor) ; Klvaňa, Petr (referee)
Body mass is one of the criteria estimating individual's body condition and predicates an ability to cope with environmental conditions. To maintain the body condition the individual needs energy supply. In my essay I am concerned with life-history strategies of birds through the adjustment with increased energy demands during incubation period and with changes in body mass relating with these strategies. The individual can cover energy requirements directly from food ("income breeder") or make an energy storage in advance and draw the energy later during breeding ("capital breeder"). According to the type of breeding environment, access of strategy evolves and how changes its body mass in consequence of the elected strategy. Income breeding occur in small birds in good predictable environment with high food abundance and it is characterized by varying body mass changes. In contrast, capital breeding occur in hardly predictable environments or in cold areas with low food abu ndance and it is characterized by linear mass loss. Body mass has a great influence on breeding success. Female make a decision to breed or not based on her body condition. Breeding with female bad body conditon incerases a risk of abandoning the nest and nest failure. Another important factors are e.g. the weather, age of breeding...
Study of Animal Breeding at Primary Schools in the Czech Republic
Boučková, Veronika ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Jančaříková, Kateřina (referee)
The theoretical part of my thesis is based on a study of specialized literature and interview. It contains two parts focused on a history of breeding and the importance of breeding today with an interest on importance of school breeding. The present state of hobby breeding at Primary Schools in the Czech Republic was surveyed in frame of two questionnaires. Teachers and directors of Primary School were respondents of the first investigation, students of the Breeding School of the second one. In both surveys, the respondents were asked about actual existence of breeding at their school, farmed species, housing conditions and their attitudes and motives regarding this issue. Opinions of psychologists regarding this issue are a part of interviews presented in the first part of the work. There is a possibility to compare three insights on the same subject - by teachers, students and psychologists. Part of my thesis contains also a comparison of outcomes with similar research. Regrettably, there is a lack of literature data regarding the issue of school breeding.
Foxtail Millet (Setaria italica L. BEAUV.) suitable crop to the transformative climate in the Czech Republic
Hermuth, Jiří ; Janovská, Dagmar ; Prohasková, Anna
The global climate changes bring a lot of undesirable impacts which will influence the agricultural production in the Czech Republic in the future. Nowadays the drought risks and their impact on the agricultural production have begun to show up very strongly. One of the main solutions might be the breeding and selection of more resistant species or/and varieties which are more adaptable to lesser water availability and which are more resistant to the new climate. This paper would like to present the foxtail millet as a cereal which might be a valuable alternative for grain production as well as for biomass production in less favourable arid areas of our country.

Paeonies and their breeding
Sekerka, Pavel ; Faloutová, Z. ; Macháčková, Markéta ; Caspers, Zuzana ; Blažek, Milan ; Blažková, Uljana
Paeonies are old ornamental and utilitarian plants. This contribution represents horticultural division of varieties and their history. The collection of paeonies in Pruhonice Botanic Garden was founded in 1968, since the eighties it is also engaged in their breeding. Peonies were in 2015 included in the National Program, we are now preparing their classifier.
