Regional disparities in housing affordability – project description

The conference paper aims to provide basic information about the project supported by the Ministry for regional development of the CR. The goal of the project is to describe situation and development of regional disparities in housing availability and housing affordability and to analyse selected consequences (unemployment and migration rates, demographic conditions etc.) of regional disparities. The goal of the project, expected outcomes and research activities are described in the conference paper.

Housing Policy and Programs Supporting Family Behaviour

The study focus on the question if direct relationship between housing availability, which is influenced also by state interventions in the housing market, and forming of new families can be proved. Two basic hypotheses were tested: 1) if recent housing subsidies (housing policy programmes) increase the availability and affordability of housing for young lower/middle income households, and 2) if recent housing policy programmes create incentives for increasing marriage and birth rate regardless the age and income of the households.

Future of the housing policy instruments in the Czech republic

Housing availibility is a actual problem. That is not only because of the current economic crisis, which has an impact on housing availibility on the market, but also because of different proclamations and proposals of political parties. The main goal of this thesis is to evalute instruments of housing policy in the Czech republic, predict how the instruments should look like in the future and outline effective solution for housing accessability in the Czech republic. This paper characterizes basic approaches and models of housing policy in the Czech republic, adding prognose of next possible progress. Thesis focuses on individual types of instruments, evaluates its future consequences and impacts, as well as a meaning for whole housing situation in the Czech republic. In the last part, thesis analyses housing policy of czech political parties as a part of their electoral programs with consideration about its application in practice.

Social aspects of housing in the Czech republic

This diploma thesis deals with housing policy and rent housing in Czech republic. First basic terms of housing and consequences of rent housing are described. The second chapter concentrates on the rent housing, in detail particular kinds of this sort of housing are described. The third chapter introduces historical development and reasons of rent restriction in Czech republic. The next part concentrates on the development of law and conception documents in the field of housing policy and current legal form of rent housing. The last part analyses financial availability of housing, it presents the development of restricted rent prices and introduces the prediction model of impacts of rent liberalization applied on the law of unilateral increase of rents. It suggests also possible compensations of these effects.

New Housing Production after 1989

The aim of this Diploma thesis is a survey and analysis of housing productin in broader context of transformation period after 1989. The basis of this paper are the expert opinions published in a domestic and a foreign literature. Fundamental method of my research is secundary data analysis published mainly by the ČSÚ and the Eurostat. Although the dominant theme of this paper is housing production, sufficient space is dedicated to the factors, that are influencing it, like historical development, regional, housing, social and economic policies, economic process, society structure, other economical faktors and many more. Extra focus is dedicated to the present problems of housing, particularly to the condition of concrete blocks of flats, on the first sight the most intensive legacy of the past.
