Foreign policy of Franco Spain in the 50s of the 20th century focusing on cooperation with the US

The content of this paper is a description of a development in international relationships and foreign trade of Spain in the period of 1945-1959. The theoretical part of this thesis if focused primarily on the characteristics of the regime and its typological classification as a bureaucratic-military authoritarian regime. It also describes the position of Spain during World War II and its neutrality. The analytical part of thesis focuses on the isolation period of 1945-1959, the institutional changes in the 50s and evaluating of cooperation with the U.S. The aim of this thesis is to confirm the hypothesis that the cooperation and economic assistance from the United States contributed significantly to the so-called Spanish economic miracle. US support helped strengthen the stability of the Franco regime after World War II and helped open the Spanish economy, which has led together with the stabilization plan of 1959 which liberalized trade and overall economy, to economic growth in Spain in the years from 1959 to 1973.

This thesis focuses on analysis of economic and social situation in the Soviet Union in the late 20s and 30s of the 20th century. It deals mainly with the collectivisation of agriculture and measures taken in the agricultural sector in the early 30s. The theoretical part is dedicated to the analysis of centrally planned economy and to the goals of Stalin's economic policy. The analytical part of the thesis examines the process of collectivization, specific steps taken in the agricultural sector and their impact on the population. The hypothesis, that despite the growth of average consumption per capita as a main indicator of standard of living, the standard of living was reduced, mannaged to prove true.

The proceedings of two workshops (2004, 2005) in the cycle entitled "By Invitation of Masaryk Institute" are included in the collection of papers of the same name. The workshops deal with questions that are still alive, and with the main features of modern Czech and European history. They are intended for the specialized and general reader. The first workshop was dedicated to Czech political realism at the turn of 19th and 20th centuries, the important ideological stream, which was traditionally represented by T. G. Masaryk. The second workshop, named Expectations and Frustrations: Memories of the Third Republic, offered interesting personal testimonies of active participants of political events between 1945-1948.

Based on the study of material, first the correspondence, the authors took down the effort of the group of „realists“ to improve to the realization their scientific, cultural and political intentions Eduard Albert (1841–1900), the representatives of so called Czech lobby in Vienna. The article is limited by the years 1888–1900 and its centre is done by the break of 80th and 90th of the 19th century when the Albert’s contacts with the “realists” group culminated.

Depictions of the Last Judgment Scene in the Czech Renaissance and Mannerism of the 15th and the 16th Centurie. The study submitted to fulfill the Bachelor Degree requirement, "Depictions of the Last Judgment Scene in the Czech Renaissance and Mannerism of the 15th and the 16th Centuries," analyzes several preserved frescoes with the theme of the Last Judgment and identifies their compositional and iconographic sources. The main ones are Johanes Sadeler's I. copper engravings of the Last Judgment (1550-1600). The graphic oeuvre of this Flemish artist, as the study demonstrates in a number of examples, exerted a considerable influence not only on his contemporaries but also on the art of later periods. Different Forms of Ldndler in the Czech Lands in the Light of Manuscripts of Jiří J B. Hartl (1781-1849) ofStará Paka is a doctoral thesis investigating the position of Hindler in the Czeeh dance repertory of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. A dance in triple meter of German origin, landler became famous aU over Europe. Drawing on eolleetions of folk dance from the Czeeh Lands (ineluding boundary regions with prevailing German population), researchers havebrought together over 750 melodies - mostly instrumental - which were known under various names sueh as lendler, štajryš, tajč, tyrol etc. The richest and oldest source is the manuscript coUection of danee melodies, made in 1811- 1822 by Jiří Josef Benedikt Hartl (1781-1849), a teacher from Stará Paka, a town situated at the foot of the Krkonoše Mountains in the north of the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the thesis seeks to explain the general context, cultural and historical, of landler's popularity in the region of North-East Bohemia, paying special attention to village teachers and their activities. Trying to identify the most frequent way of spreading dance instrumental melodies, the research has given prominence to migrant musicians, but cultural exchange in regions with a population of varied ethnie origin also played a role....
