Hypercoagulability and their occurrence in a population sample of young women
MARKOVÁ, Markéta
This work deals with hypercoagulable conditions, caused by shifting the natural balance towards the pro-coagulation processes which are associated with a heightened risk of venous thrombosis. The research part is divided into three parts. My laboratory work was conducted at the Department of Clinical Hematology at Czech Budejovice Hospital, where, in February I conducted hyper-coagulation tests. More specifically, factor VIII, lupus anticoagulant and the functional levels of protein C and protein S. Other reasearch activities included the evaluation of patients who had been examined over a period of one year and the frequency of occurrence among different age and gender groups. The highest occurrence was observed, as expected, with women aged 18-39 and elderly men. The last part of the paper is a questionnaire on how women are informed about the risk factors of thrombosis, family history and risks for individual respondents. We managed to isolate 7 potentially vulnerable women whose families (more precisely their parents) have a history of thrombosis, and who take hormonal contraceptives.
Energetical usage of phytomass for heating of buildings
JIŘÍK, Jaroslav
The bachelor thesis deals with energetical usage of phytomass for heating of buildings. The issue of biomass and energy crops were described based on available literature. The main objective was to compare Miscanthus, Phalaris arundinacea and Festuca arundinacea in terms of biomass yield, dry matter yield and the heat of combustion. Four wood pellet machines were studied in terms of energy consumption and the rate of pellet production. It was found that the annual costs of production of the required quantity of pellets (including costs of planting) for a model house built by current technologies were different by individual plants. The costs of heating using pellets of Phalaris arundinacea were 16 349 CZK per year, using Miscanthus 13 519 CZK per year and using Festuca arundinacea 9 749 CZK per year. It was concluded that to use the pellets made of Festuca arundinacea is the most advantageous possibility of heating.
Educational activity of a nurse in preoperative preparation
PROKOP, Jiří
Education such as upbringing, teaching and training has become a common and undisputed part of nurse professional activities. Nurses take an equal and autonomous part in treatment teams at present time full of significant changes. In addition nurses are often considered to be a basic source of reform strategies. Their importance is growing steadily. Together with changes in nurse roles, the traditionally passive roles of patients have been tranformed into the active ones, that is patients realise their responsibility for their health, diseases and operations. One of the most important activities a nurse in preoperative preparation deals with is an educational activity which should support client´s comfort and prevent him from complications or at least minimise them. The aim of this activity is to inform a patient with suitable methods on preoperative preparation and prevent misinformation, misunderstanding and complications. Nurse competence is done by the Law 20/1966 in § 23, par 1 called ``About public health care`` : a health care worker can provide information on those activities which he/she is allowed to perform so nurses can inform on nurse treatment. Within the framework of the Law 424/2004 a nurse provides health care in terms of legal regulations and standards, provides information and educates in accordance with his/her qualifications. There are some differences between a nurse and a registered nurse in their competences, however, a general nurse can deal with highly specialised nurse activities under supervision of a registered nurse. The aim of this work consisted in finding out if nurses educated patients during a preoperative preparation and pacients were informed about the availability of preoperative education. The aim was accomplished. The research was based on a quantitative method, an anonymous questionnaire. There were 396 questionnaires distributed to 198 patients after a surgical operation and 198 operating room nurses in Praque in March 2008. Among 349 questionnaires which were analysed, 175 went back from patients and 174 from nurses. Two hypotheses were stated. H1: Patients are not informed about the availability of preoperative education by nurses before preoperative preparation and H2: Patients are educated in preoperative preparation. The first hypothesis was disproved the other was proved. The research can be concluded with these results: most patient respondents know that they can be educated by nurses in preoperative preparation and they are really educated. The educational standard is not bad but can be improved. Unfortunately the operating room nurse role in preoperative preparation was underestimated. Public and nurses should be informed more about preoperative preparation. The work is composed to be used for educating patients and nurses about this problem. The research conclusions can be published in journals or presented at lectures so that the preoperative preparation can be improved and a new preoperative standard made up.
Fattening heifers on pasture
VALTER, Jiří
The main goal of this bachelor{\crq}s theses is to assess heifer fattening conducted in two grazing cycles in the mountain region of Southern Bohemia. The observation was carried out in the years 2008 and 2009. A total of 51 heifers was observed, all of them crossbreeds of Aberdeen Angus or Simmental cattle. In the first grazing cycle, the heifers were raised together with the mothers on a pasture and stabled for the winter season. The heifers were slaughtered after the end of the second grazing cycle, which followed the next year. Light weight of the heifers was recorded at the end of the first grazing cycle, at the end of the winter season and again at the end of the second grazing cycle. The weight of the dressed carcass and the SEUROP classification was further recorded. The average daily gain was calculated for each period from the live weight. The data set was sorted by the month of birth of the heifer and by the SEUROP classification. Statistical data analyses were carried out using the Excel software. In order to evaluate the results, basic statistical parameters were calculated for each of the selected variables and the cogency of the differences between the groups was tested with the two-tailed t-test at the corresponding level of significance. The average weight of the heifers at the end of the first grazing cycle was 266.0 kg, average weight at the end of the winter season was 349.8 kg and the average weight at the end of the second grazing cycle was 512.3 kg. The average age of the heifer at the end of the first grazing cycle was 216 days and they were slaughtered at the average age of 574 days. The average daily gain during the first grazing cycle was 1.14 kg, during the winter season 0.57 kg and during the second grazing cycle 0.78 kg. The lifetime average daily gain was 0.85 kg. The average weight of the dressed carcass was 247.1 kg. 60.8 % of the heifers gained the SEUROP class ``O`` and 39.2 % the class ``R`` or ``U``. The heifers showed considerable variability, especially in the weight at the end of the second grazing cycle (sx = 43.9 kg). Heifers gained the SEUROP class ``R`` or ``U`` showed higher weight at the end of both the first and second grazing cycle, higher weight of the dressed carcass and higher average daily gain during the winter season and during the second grazing cycle, compared with the heifers gained the SEUROP class ``O``.
Prefabbed housing estates in Czech Republic and its problems (with emphasis to regional differentiation of flats market)
Kallabová, Eva
Prefabbed blocks of flats became the most problematic form of dwelling. These are usually situated in large housing estates where 1/3 of all inhabitants of the state live. Problems of housing are significantly concentrated both territorially and socially and they partly follow prosperity of regions. On a microscale, it is necessary to solve problems of housing estates, especially their technical, aesthetic, architectonic and functional quality

The report deals with pressurized TG-analysis of gas desul-furization under reducing conditions (800-900 oC), laboratoryexperiments on substoichiometric PFBC at 800 oC and desulfu-rization and with partition of selected elements among variousash size fractions in fluidized bed combustion under variousconditions.
The institution of ombudsman in the czech legislation
Jelínková, Miroslava ; Mates, Pavel (advisor) ; Kuba, Jaroslav (referee)
We can consider the institution of ombudsman to be one of the traditional institutions of most democratic countries. The position of the ombudsman in the constitutional law system and his relation to other governmental authorities is relatively independent. The ombudsman is here primarily to help citizens who do not have any legal background and can be easily lost in the complicated system of governmental authorities. The Czech Parliament passed Act Number 349/1999 of the Law Collection, the Ombudsman Act, in 1999. The adoption of this act signified the implementation of another institute of law to the Czech legal system which should guarantee the abidance of human rights.
