Comparison of Ca(OH)2 and NaHCO3 as Sorbents Suitable for Dry Flue Gas Treatment at Temperatures Below 250 °C.
Zach, Boleslav
The sorption rate of HCl on Ca(OH)2 is, in comparison with NaHCO3 (Na2CO3), an order of magnitude lower and to reach the emission limits, the flue gas treatment has to be conducted under suitable conditions. A suitable temperature for removal of acidic gases by calcium based sorbents is connected to the content of H2O in flue gas. The reaction rate is very good in the vicinity of dew point but the process conditions shouldn’t be too close to the dew point to avoid condensation. The advantages of Ca(OH)2 are better reactivity towards HF, very low water solubility of air pollution residues, and low price in comparison with NaHCO3.

Crankcase Ventilation of the Internal Combustion Engine
Zavadil, Martin ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This thesis has been written out as a literature review. This work is focused on crankcase ventilation systems of internal combustion engines. The aim was to describe the origin of bow-by in different parts of engine, the principle of operation of individual components and a description of design solution for different types of engines. The work also describes the differences between crankcase ventilation systems of motorcycles and trucks. The last chapter is a description of used design solution of crankcase ventilation system for the selected engine VW 2.0TDI. In conclusion the work outlines possible developments in the field. The work also includes image attachments approaching the issue and design solutions.
Reducing emissions of SO2 in the flue gas from the fluidized bed boiler
Tesař, Jan ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Brummer, Vladimír (advisor)
Aim of this thesis is to design a technology of a flue gas desulphurization of fluidized bed boiler. Currently, the state of technology is not able to provide flue gas desulphurisation to required level. For this reason it is necessary to build additional device for the desulphurisation. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with the emission limits of sulphur dioxide, available methods of desulphurization and sorbents suitable for the desulfurization. In practical part conditioned dry sorption method is chosen for the specified source, technological and structural design for suggested desulphurization technology including design of all device is proposed. The thesis also includes a technology design and a 3D model.
Evaluating and modeling of fouling process in heat exchanger
Čirka, Martin ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This diploma thesis discusses fouling processes and mechanisms of industrial heat exchangers, with focus on shell side fouling of heat transfer area by flue gases, and eventually taking fouling into account, or more precisely its modeling and predicting by calculation. Thermal-hydraulic design of heat exchanger is focused mainly on shell side, as flue gases are dominant process medium in terms of fouling and heat transfer. Based on available operational data of evaluated industrial heat exchanger, specific process has been developed to determine by calculation, or more precisely predict change of fouling factor throughout operational period of heat exchanger. Usage and various options of this specific calculation technique are being discussed in conclusion, whether there is a potential to use this technique regarding more complex operational inputs or prediction of fouling process for different operational regime of heat exchanger.
The use of waste heat cogeneration units for steam and heating
Jež, Dalibor ; Skála, Zdeněk (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with design of technological system for heating and process steam generation. The source of energy is a cogeneration unit. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part is design of technological system and description. The second part is realized stoichiometric calculation and the thermal balance of steam boiler. The main part of thesis is design of the waste heat steam boiler. The thermal calculation, aerodynamic calculation, hydraulic calculation and strength calculation were made. The thesis also includes the drawing of designed waste heat steam boiler.
Use of flue gas from gas microturbine for direct drying
Těthal, Josef ; Máša, Vítězslav (referee) ; Kuba, Pavel (advisor)
This master‘s thesis deals with the problematic of flue gas produced by a gas microturbine which is used as a drying media for general drying. Flue gas needs to be cooled to specific temperatures. The computing part of this work includes solving the microturbine and the mixer. Further part contains bilance solution of a general dryer for resolving the output parameters of wet flue gas. In the last part, the problematic of drying in a laundry facility is described, along with using the flue gas for drying at the specific clothes dryer Primus T24 G.
Verification of the model for predicting the properties of the combustion process
Horsák, Jan ; Kilkovský, Bohuslav (referee) ; Jegla, Zdeněk (advisor)
This work thoroughly analyzes a previously created computational model for predicting characteristic properties of the combustion process in an experimental combustion chamber. Any found shortcomings of the original model are removed and the model is further improved prior to its application on 11 real cases of combustion tests performed at various conditions and with various fuels. Data provided by the model are confronted with the data obtained during the combustion tests and the model accuracy is evaluated, based on local heat flux along the length of the combustion chamber. Finally, the overall usefulness of the model is determined by the means of evaluating the acquired accuracy values, and further possibilities of model improvement and use are presented.
Condensation heat exchanger beyond CHP unit
Sojka, Jiří ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design the condensation heat exchanger for stationary engine running on natural gas. Flue gas condenser is designed for universal use of refrigerants (i.e. water or 35% fusion ethylene-glycol in water) and their working temperatures. The work includes theoretical, computational and design part. In the attachment is located the drawing documentation to flue gas condenser.
HRSG with two pressure levels,137,4kg/s, 569°C
Šmejkal, Petr ; Kohout, Přemysl (referee) ; Skála, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis deals with thermal calculation and design of proportions and layout of calorific components of a heat recovery steam generator according to given output parameters of steam and input parameters of flue gas. Furthermore, the proportions of boiler drums and irrigation and transfer pipes are designed and draught losses are calculated.
