Beckmeyer, Kelsey ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Frič, Pavol (referee)
This thesis tests a new theory about the role that public perceptions on target populations play in designing homeless policies - as demonstrated through the Homeless Policy Design Model. The theory and model present an expansion of theories on the target populations and policy design from Lowi (1972), Ingram, Schneider and Deleon (2007); and Schneider and Ingram (1993). The model is tested through a case study of homeless policy in Seattle, WA from 2007 to 2016 and the correlating perceptions of the homeless generated through the rhetoric of the political elite and the general public. The homeless policy design model indicates that the public's perceptions about homeless target populations will impact policy design choices. Through qualitative research methods, the thesis finds that there is a recognizable correlation between how the public views the homeless and what type of policy the Seattle City Council passed from 2007 to 2016.

The building is located on the corner parcell of Nezamyslova and Táborská. The main objective in the design was to create a high-quality and full-fledged housing despite the hectic place where the building is located. The shape of the building is based on the street lines of streets mentioned above. Another factor taken into consideration is the chapel right on the junction of streets. The proposed house is trying complement chaple by its simple cubic form. Space between the house and the chapel should become more busy meeting place for locals. This action are supported by café located in front face of the building, which can expand outdoors during the summer time. An important element is the passage to a quieter area in the yard, where there is semi-public zone shielded from the bustle of the street used for rest. This duality is emphasized by the use of expanded metal facades only from the street side, which serves as a shading element. Conversely, in the yard of the house shows its milder form using white facade. Diverse height of the building respond to the increasing assumption of buildings and busy the street. Street Táborská is intended tram and car traffic, connects Židenice with Julianov and the surrounding area gradually undergoing renovations at which raises the height of surrounding buildings. On this side object has 4 storeys. Street Nezamyslova is only served by tram lines, the surrounding area are the family houses, which gradually decrease from the building. In this street object has only 3 floors. Proposed building becomes corner building that closes the block with the connection to the surroundings. Multifunctional building near little chapel - Židenice
Klimeš, Jakub ; Elešová, Klára (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Petříček, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the design of a mixed-use building at a crossing of two streets, Táborská and Nezamyslova, in the district of Židenice, Brno. The aim of the work is to come up with a new architectural and urbanistic concept, which will also enhance the vicinity of the building. The house itself has four storeys. The ground floor is reserved for commerce, such as shops, and a future expansion with a small cafeteria is planned. The following three floors are residential. Part of the second floor serves as a roof terrace for the inhabitants of the building. The structure terminates with a flat green roof. There are two underground parking storeys, with places reserved not only for the inhabitants of the building, but also of the surrounding area, which improves rentability. The concept tries to unify the corner of the two streets and reacts to the surrounding structures. The last house on Táborská street is a three-storey house, while the one on Nezamyslova is a two-storey one. For those reasons, the floor plan of the building has the shape of an “L”, and there is an indent in the eastern part, which corresponds with the house on Nezamyslova street. This indent forms the aforementioned roof terrace. The concept also incorporates the public space in front of the house, which is dominated by a chapel. This area shields the building from the noisy streets. A large amount of greenery, especially birches, is proposed in this space, to improve the greenery coefficient of the plot. The façade consists of hung anodized aluminium panels, which are anchored into the walls of the structure. The object is located in a very busy area, which makes it obvious to use the ground floor for rentable commercial spaces. The apartments themselves are placed into the following three floors. The aim is to reduce the noise from the street as much as possible, and thus the sleeping and living rooms are all oriented into the private courtyard. There is a total of 14 apartm
