Changes to the interior of the basilica of St. Margaret's monastery at Břevnov
Linart, Petr ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Oulíková, Petra (referee)
Changes to the Interior of the Basilica of St. Margaret's Monastery Břevnov St. Margaret's Church, which is part of Břevnov monastery of Benediktines, was built under the supervision of abbot and builder Otmar Zinke in the beginning of the 18th century. As all the architectonical works, even building of this great dome of radical Baroque came through its development. The earliest changes were done by the architect Pavel Ignác Bayer in the beginning of forming the plans. His successor was Kryštof Dientzenhofer. He changed even the basic masonry and the building as a single nave. According to the archival records there were some changes concerning the iconographical programme. The interior was gradually completed and changed partly too. The main changes concerned the paintings, arranging of the liturgical area and the Baroque organ case reconstruction as well as new organ.
Influence of material base of coating systems onto wood durability
Bednářová, Ilona ; Petránek, Vít (referee) ; Vaněrek, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with the influence of the base material of the coating systems for wood durability when we exposed them to external conditions. The theoretical part is devoted to wood durability and weather resistance with a detailed description of the tests the durability of coating systems. A substantial part of the theory is devoted to description binder component of the coating material. In the practical part was performed the experiment, which examined the influence of the thickness of the coating system, the type of coating material (paint or lasure) as well as the type of binder (water dispersion with an alkyd or acrylic resin, respectively solution coating system with the alkyd resin). All coating systems were exposed to natural and artificial durability tests. The criterions for evaluation were chosen differences of colours.

The paintings in the probate inventories of Netolice burgesses in 18th century
PILNÁ, Alena
The bachelor thesis is called The paintings in the probate inventories of Netolice burgesses in 18th century and deals with the appearance of paintings in these probate inventories, which are the most important sources. The thesis is focused on the number of the paintings in every inventory, how the paintings looked like and least but not last on the topics of the paintings. To create this thesis the author had to applied more than one approach the approaches of the history of arts (e.g. the iconography) and the approaches of the history (e.g. the palaeography). And it is very important to combine the methods.
Determination of clay pigment provenance rased on crystal structure characterisation
Švarcová, Silvie ; Bezdička, Petr ; Hradil, David ; Žižak, I.
Application of X-ray diffraction techniques (XRD) in material analysis of artworks is beneficial in several aspects. Primarily it provides indisputable identification of crystal components found in colour layers, further it makes quantification of identified phases possible and last but not least it can also bring insight in material crystal structure. The crystal structure of materials is often affected by conditions which have been formed under, e.g. geological genesis, manufacturing procedure or secondary changes for example resulted from corrosive action of environment. The knowledge of the relation between the crystal structure of the material and its formation can be useful not only for art historic evaluation of the artwork but also for the artwork restoration and/or conservation. Within the example of clay mineral kaolinite, we show that its crystal order evaluation (based on XRD) can serve well to find its natural origin. We found kaolinite, the main component of kaolin (white earth), in a preparation layer of a Gothic wall painting in St. Maria-Magdalena Church in Bor near Karlovy Vary, where important kaolin deposits are situated. Comparing eight reference kaolins, we demonstrated that these can be differentiated just according to the kaolinite crystallinity (crystal structure ordering). Within this study we compared laboratory powder X-ray micro-diffraction (micro-XRD) with synchrotron radiation X-ray diffraction (SR-XRD). We found that both techniques led to the same results.
Touches
TŘEŠKOVÁ, Marie
The practical part of diploma work consist of five figurative paintings, medium and bigger sized, made with acrylic colors on the canvas. The whole painting set is called `` Touches{\crqq}. The reflection principle goes trough the entire work and is also the name of subtitle. The reflection is important in a symbolic sense while choosing particular motives and colorful paintings. The work is inspired by the book Golden age written by Czech contemporaneous author Michal Ajvaz. In written section of diploma work the reader gets better idea about the work and each motif as well. There is a description of artistic aims, symbolic, colorness, painting techniques and used material.
Laboratory research report. The frescoes (secco)in the Minoric house in Český Krumlov
Hradilová, J. ; Hradil, David
Pre-restoration materials research of the painting is based on microscopic (both optical and electron) analyses of grounds and painting layers in the cross-sections of fragments with the aim to identify pigments and to describe the stratigraphy of re-nts involving to choose the suitable restoration procedure. Other methods (e.g. microchemical and histochemical tests) are used for identification of binding media.
