Czech music journalism focused on rock music during the period of normalization
Husák, Martin ; Končelík, Jakub (advisor) ; Vedral, Jan (referee)
The thesis "Czech music journalism focused on rock music during the period of normalization" reflects the position and importance of Czech rock music journalism within the structure and development of normalization of the media system. It is brought back through the oral historical research based on authentic evidence of their protagonists. It defines the initial prerequisites (ideological, political and socio-cultural) which are important to understand the circumstances under which rock music could be created and developed into an institution. It all depended on the confrontational attitude of communist power towards rock music generally. The next methodic element how to fulfill the defined goals is descriptive and comparative perspective. On this basis there is confronted official and samizdat's area of magazine production on the example of chosen periodicals. There also belong other qualitative aspects of music journalism (personalization, professionalization and every day editorial job). At the end the accepted conclusions are supported by the analysis and interpretation of chosen cultural and music events. They are divided by the method of their media coverage from official and samizdat periodicals.
The role of NG2 glycoprotein in regulation of Rho/ROCK signaling
Kratochvílová, Magdalena ; Rösel, Daniel (advisor) ; Kuželová, Kateřina (referee)
NG2 is a transmembrane glycoprotein, which takes part in cellular processes such as adhesion, migration or invasivity, i.e., in processes important in tissue development but also in tumor and metastasis formation. Among other things, NG2 leads to an inhibition of neurite growth, and probably plays an important role in amoeboid type of cell invasion. These processes are in many respects similar. Both in inhibition of neurite growth and in mesenchymal-amoeboid transition occur morphological changes which lead to a loss of cell protrusions and a transition to a rounded shape. In both of these processes Rho/ROCK signaling also plays a crucial role. Connection between NG2 and the Rho/ROCK signaling pathway has been indicated in the process of inhibition of neurite growth. The mechanism of Rho/ROCK signaling regulation by NG2 glycoprotein is, however, still unknown. In this thesis is proposed a molecular mechanism of Rho/ROCK pathway activation by glycoprotein NG2 which relies on the NG2/MUPP1/Syx signaling complex where the scaffold protein MUPP1, bound to activated NG2, enables binding and activation of the Syx protein. Syx then as RhoGEF activates Rho/ROCK signaling, and the activated Rho/ROCK pathway leads to inhibition of neurite growth, increased cell contractility and traction forces. These processes are...
The History and Presence of Radio Beat
Kondisová, Andrea ; Maršík, Josef (advisor) ; Lovaš, Karol (referee)
This thesis deals with the historical development of the first Classic rock radio station in the Czech Republic - Radio Beat. The station began broadcasting on 1st January 2002 and within the first few years of its existence it proved that even in the Czech media landscape it is possible (despite its narrow profile) to build a strong rock radio station. In a few years' time, the original Prague station has spread through the whole of the Czech Republic and today it is possible to tune in to it on more than fifty frequencies in all regions. One of the specialities of the station is (amongst others) that it offers topical music journalistic programmes every evening. The thesis is the first comprehensive portrait of the station. Apart from the development of the programming of the station the thesis concentrates on the staff structure of Beat, its PR and background and especially the station's communication with its target audience. Part of this work is also dedicated to a brief description of the present state of Beat (that is, in year 2016) in terms of programming, radio presenting and staff structure. Also, a brief theoretical background of the development of the Classic rock format and its beginnings in the Czech Republic is present in the thesis. One of the key programmes of the station, compound...
Lake under Petrov - architectural and urban development of a space at the corner of streets "Biskupská" and "Petrov" (in a relation to the underground of Brno)
Zdražilová, Jana ; Pech, Zbyněk (referee) ; Kopáčik, Gabriel (advisor)
Solution idea Petrov is stoney bill in south-west part of Brno. You can find magnificent cellar on given land that is probably medieval and is partially carved in rock. Designed building follows up this rock developing to surface, where crystalizes and gradually grows and expands towards from „Šilingrovo náměstí“ to St. Petr and Pavel’s cathedral. Water is the other element – it wells from mouldering diabas rock to surface, thanks to cracked springs that can be found here. That creates a lake beneath Petrov. Water theme is projected to building interiors. This construction is characterised by great views, which are possible because of unique location of the site and the building itself is designed to use the most of them. From terrace, caffeteria and also multipurpose hall can anyone view cathedral, Zelný trh square and Parnas fountain. Function locations 1) Interest-activities more people more life. There used to be one of the oldest schools in Brno from half of 14th century. And because of that, although in modified form, I wanted to preserve this function of the place. I designed one classroom and a multipurpose hall, that can be used e.g. for dance lessons or - in a daytime, when there be no usage for the hall - for rentals for commercial purposes. 2) The entrance to medieval cellar carved into rock, that is under the site. There are two functional water wells, that constantly floods the cellar space. Water will be pumped out to terrace, where it will make a small lake. The whole space will function as a small gallery. 3) Caffeteria and sweetshop are located on very attractive place with spectacular views. Adjoining terrace will serve as summer garden that can be used by public all year round.
Detached Family Residence
Mikuš, Martin ; Vávra, Petr (referee) ; Vajkay, František (advisor)
The subject of this work is the design of a detached family house in area Nove Domky near Jihlava in which natural construction materials were used. Instead of concrete or bricks, this building is designed with materials such as straw, rock, timber, clay, hemp or sheep's wool. Furthermore, the work deals with methods of plumbing, electrical installations and heating. The possible utilization of natural energy resources or ecological processing of waste were also taken into account. The conclusion contains the financial comparison with a building where traditional and industrially produced materials are used.
Interaction of classical and rock music in my work
Worek, Michal ; KURZ, Ivan (advisor) ; BARTOŇ, Hanuš (referee)
In my Thesis, I am trying to introduce my concept of interaction of classical and rock music. It is illustrated by concrete compositions how I proceed when composing and which elements are inspired by classical music and which by rock music. I am also citing my inspirational resources from both kinds of music that I am using in my work. The fundamental part of my Thesis is an analysis of my bachelor composition Symphony of Progress which I intend as an example of a balanced interaction of classical and rock music. I consider its ambiguous genre categorization to be one of the proofs. In this case, it is possible to regard it as progressive rock as well as classical music with the use of rock band. Yet every auditor has to judge himself whether I managed to create such a balanced interaction.
Rock Fan as a Recipient of Marketing Communication
Palounek, Martin ; Riedlbauch, Václav (advisor) ; Stříteský, Václav (referee)
This thesis is primarily focused on collecting insights regarding rock music fan that can be applied to marketing communication. Its main aim is to describe how the rock fans are different from the major population in terms of descriptive characteristics, values, opinions and lifestyle. The points of parity and the points of difference are investigated on the level of rock sub-genres. The message, symbolism and main ideas present in rock music are examined, including historical and social context leading to the formation and development of the genre. We also tried to assign a specific archetype to rock and its sub-genres. We assume that rock fans are in some ways different from the rest of the population and that we are able to observe the differences on the level of sub-genres. However, we also expect that there are some points of parity symptomatic for all the rock genres. We suppose that artists and music marketers approach marketing communication mostly from the point of their own intuition and that they frequently use symbolism, historical references and archetypes in their way of communication. The research is comprised of three parts. First part is the analysis of secondary data from MML-TGI database by Median Research Company for year 2013. Used methodology: General analysis and cross analysis. The objective of the analysis was to determine differences between genres and subgenres in terms of descriptive characteristics, value system and verdicts about lifestyle. The next part of the research was the content analysis of notable rock album front covers for the purpose of deeper exploration of rock symbols. The last part of the research is comprised of interviews with music industry professionals who shared their opinion regarding genre characteristics, fans and marketing communication in real life.
Length determination of working cycle of excavators at different technologies of working operations at the construction sites and the correctional proposal coefficients for calculation of real productivity.
BRABEC, Martin
In the bachelor´s thesis are stated values of working cycles of excavators at different technologies of working activity at the construction. Based on the basis of data and observing working technologies, the worked up proposal reflects correcting coefficients for calculation of real productivity. The study contains analysis of working materials of machines for ground work, analysis of fundamental kinds of ground works on construction states, analysis of excavator shovels and analysis of excavators working tools. In the second part, there are factors that influence productivity and there are determined remedial coefficients for calculation a real productivity. Further, in this thesis are compared of theoretical and real productivity observed by excavators. The results compare different excavator categories according to their size. In the ending of this thesis, there are determined the proposals and the principles for optimal usability of excavators at the construction.
