Resocialization function of imprisonment and its efficiency

This bachelor thesis deals with the problematic of re-socialization function of imprisonment in the Czech Republic. First, discusses the development of understanding of the purpose of punishment, describes current theories about its potential function, defines the legislation that sets out the purpose of imprisonment and introduces the public's attitude towards this issue. It also discusses the negative aspects that complicate attempts to remedy convicted as imprisonment process and possible stigmatization and the activity called treatment programs, for whose assistance is re-socialization function imprisonment realized. The next chapter then focuses on ways to measure the effectiveness of the remedy of prisoners, the discussion and their predictive value and frequency. The last part presents the realized survey, which is based on interviews with different people in the triangulation to capture different views of individual participants and prisons in the issue of performance re-socialization function imprisonment.

So far there was no data in the Czech Republic that would be presented the distribution and dynamics of the disease in the prison population. Methodology: A study that uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was conducted in four Czech facilities for imprisonment selected to represent the possible range (34 totals) such prisons in the Czech Republic. In the sero-prevalence part of the study tests for the presence of antibodies against HIV and HCV were conducted at 967 prisons (700 M and 267 F). During the tests were collected basic anamnesis data and qualitative in-depth interviews in a randomly selected sample of 380 prisoners (235 M and 145 F). Factors influencing resocialization of persons released from prison

This bachelor thesis is focused to issue of resocialization of persons after imprisonment and factors that may influence the resocialization. The whole resocialization proces is not only in prison, where it should be most intense, but the process should continue after release from prison. In theoretical part the issue is described based on available literature. The empirical part is focused to find out the most important factors, which may affect the success of resocialization from the perspective of persons after imprisonment. The Research was carried out by using questionnaires.Eight hypotheses were defined. These hypotheses were evaluated and supplemented by research findings. The drugs problem in prisons of the Czech Republic

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to survey and describe the current state of the drugs issue in czech prison's system based on the experiences of prisoners. The theoretical part is based on literature research and there are described Prison Service of the Czech Republic, problems of addictive substances in prisons systems and possibilities of addiction treatment in prisons. In empirical part is quantitative research which using a questionnaire. In the end of empirical part are described possibilities of prevalence of drugs and their penetration into prisons in Czech Republic. I tried to described current overview about drugs in Czech prisons in my bachelor thesis.
Czech prison system and its ability to meet the public interest

Diploma thesis "The Czech prison system and its ability to meet the public interest" deals with the public interest in the selected area from the perspective of key stakeholders, election programmes, policy statements of governments and (changes in) legislation between 2000-2013. For determination of what is the public interest has been used as a tool a scheme of four dimensions of definition of public interest. First, there is the public interest as defined by experts, which is determined on the basis of content analysis of the journal the České vězeňství published by Prison Service of the Czech Republic. Second, the public interest determined by the preferences of citizens, which are collected from content analysis of articles from Newton Media Search and from reproduced findings of public opinion polls. To analyze the third dimension of public interests, which are generated by functional needs of the community, content analysis of election programmes of the parliamentary parties of the period is used as well as policy statements of the government and also the study of changes in legislation. The legal status of sentenced to a term of imprisonment

This thesis deals with the legal status of persons serving prison from the perspective of selected areas of their fundamental rights. Analyzed areas include the right to protection from torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, the right to protection of health and to free medical care, the right to be protected from any unauthorized intrusion into one's private and family life and the right to participate in the administration of public affairs through active and passive voting rights. The theory includes institutional guarantees ensuring compliance with these rights and the relevant recommendations of international organizations. Practically oriented casuistic section of the thesis is based on the direct experience gained during authoress' internship at the Czech Helsinki Committee, non- governmental human rights organization based in Prague since 1988.
Special Department as Part of Professional Treatment of Convicts.

The thesis deals with special treatment of convicts, in particular a special programme of treatment in a special department. The thesis has two parts the theoretical one and the empirical one. The theoretical part defines basic notions connected with education, family, free time, pathological phenomena in society, crime. They are presented on the basis of scientific resources. Next, special treatment of convicts in a special department is described. The convicts suffer from a behaviour disorder caused by abuse of psychotropic drugs. The main goal of the empirical research was to describe, compare and analyse the opinions of the convicts on the relation between crime and family life, free time activities and also the therapeutic programme of the special department.
Probation in system of criminal sanctions from the point of view of prevention of recidivm

The theme of my diploma thesis is the efficiency of the probation supervision of the system of justice. My aim is to inform wheather and in which way the probation supervision helps to reduce the risk of crime's relapse. This diploma thesis is divided into two parts. The first one is theoretical whereas the second one is practical. In the theoretical paragraph I explain the aims and reasons of probation supervision. The wide scope of taking advantages of this care is also mentioned. I describe all activities connected with the above. The pecularities of youngters's probation supervision are pointe dout, as well. Last but not least I inform about the course of the probation supervision and try to compare alternative sanctions to the imprisonment. A statistic survey of probation supervision in last few years makes a part of my thesis, too. The second part of my thesis is based on my practice in the centre of probation and mediation care. I mention the results of my research among the members of the working team in the above organisation and social worker's for youngsters and adults. Penitentiary and Post-Penitentiary care in the Czech Republic

Aim of my diploma thesis is to describe the system of penitentiary and post-penitentiary care in the Czech republic and determine whether and how it works link these two components in practice. This thesis consists of two parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. In the theoretical part I explain the expressions and the subjects that provide this care in our republic. I also try to clarify the purpose and the sense of this care and the relations between penitentiary and post-penitentiary care. I deal with the conception of work with defendant and convicted people, as well, and with the possibilities of work with clients in jail. I cpecify problems of this work in details. Last but not lest i mention upbriding, education and employment of people in the course of custody and imprisonment. The practical part of my diploma thesis is based on my praktice in the jailhouse Praha - Ruzyně that I manager in the course my studies. I start with guilty and convict clients there, then I mention the structure of the working team of specialist. The possibilities of the clients regarding the treatment is procedure, education and employment in this jailhouse make an important part of this diploma work.
