Smoot - Hawley tariff and its effects on economy of The United States

This bachelor thesis focuses on effects of Smoot-Hawley tariff in The United States of America, during 1930. Specifically, the thesis focuses on the analysis of the tariff's effects to process of The Great Depression and is trying to answer the question if the tariff made The Depression worse. In the first part, there is described economic situation in the United States before the tariff passed and then there is described way, how the tariff was passed. The next part is divided into three chapters, and every single one of them analyze effects of the tariff from different sight of view, which is change of farmer's and producer's situation, monetary effects and effects of the tariff to world trade. The thesis analyzes these effects on process of the Great Depression in The United States. Conclusion of the thesis is the statement that Smoot-Hawley tariff made an effect on The Great Depression, mainly by his effects on world trade, which was lower because of the tariff and it was a break to recovery from recession.
Comparison of approaches of the European Union and the United States of America towards the security threat of Islamic State

The diploma thesis presents comparison of security and strategic culture's approaches of the European Union and the United States of America towards the threat of Islamic state. Comparison is based on two separated analyses of complex strategy and particular steps of both subjects from different methodological points of view. Each analysis consists of security and strategic culture in the light of historical milestones, factors of engagement in fight against Islamic state, complex counter-terrorism strategy and particular steps taken against the Islamic state. Based on comparative analysis both approaches will be compared and the thesis aims to answer the questions, how did both the USA and the EU challenged the threat of Islamic state, how these approaches differ and also what exactly stands behind these concrete steps.
Americký pojistný trh a rostoucí vliv spolujízd na pojištění automobilů.

This bachelor thesis discusses the United States Insurance Industry, concentrates on automobile insurance, and shows the impact of ridesharing on it, in form of transportation network companies(TNC). The theoretical part of this paper clarifies the characteristics, structure, and purpose of American insurance regulation, and also describes components of private passenger automobile insurance. As a case study for this paper, an analysis of Uber services is provided, and a breakdown of its commercial insurance is given to look for and discuss gray areas of the coverage and evaluate why they occur. This paper also gives a comparison of California state regulations for transportation network companies with Uber's commercial policy in order to find who is responsible for deficiencies in coverage during the rideshare and what is comprehensive in terms of coverage for rideshare drivers.
Selected aspects of economic relations between the European Union and the People's Republic of China at the beginning of the 21st century and their real impact on the world economy

The main aim of this dissertation is to analyze selected economic activities and economic relations occurring between the European Union and China. This dissertation is divided into four main chapters to ensure coherence and continuity throughout the research. The first chapter deals with the historical development of mutual cooperation between Europe and China. This chapter emphasizes recent events. The most extensive part of this work, the second section, addresses key areas of cooperation between the EU and China. Most of the research focus is devoted to trade economic relations and investment relations. Further, the second chapter addresses controversial areas within the mutual EU-China relations. In contrast with the second chapter, which looks at the mutual relations from the perspective of the whole EU, the third chapter distinguishes bilateral relations between two EU countries and China. The purpose of the third chapter is therefore to highlight the different approach of individual EU member countries. In the last chapter, I try to assess the growing influence of both the EU and China within the global economy. Finally, I outline the possible future development of the research topic.
The role and the effectiveness of the U.S. visa system with a concentration on the threat of terrorism and illegal immigration

This bachelor thesis deals with the visa system of the United States of America. The aim of this thesis is to assess the security feature of contemporary visa system and his effectiveness in the struggle against terrorism and illegal immigration. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic security concepts. It describes contemporary security system of the U.S. and sets the visa system into it. The practical part deals with the role of the visa system in 11/9 terrorist attacks and compare it to the current situation. It also analyses the role of visas in the struggle against illegal immigration with a concentration on the problem of overstays.
Strategie vstupu společnosti Velteko s.r.o. na trh USA

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse conditions of entry into the foreign market of the United States of America, the readiness of the Czech company VELTEKO s.r.o. as an American non-resident for this particular foreign expansion and to evaluate the total process requirements of getting a new US business started. The first part focuses on entry into foreign markets in general, the introduction of the company and providing basic information on the United States. The next section concentrates on current activities of the company on the US market, reasons for further expansion and factors to be taken into consideration before setting up a new business. On the basis of analysis, consultations and information obtained, the outcome of the thesis is to outline the most suitable possibilities of starting and doing business in the USA. This recommendation will include two places of incorporations and a type of business entity I consider to be the most appropriate for a new business set up by Czech nationals.
U. S. Fiscal Policy

The subject of this Bachelor's thesis is the analysis of the fiscal policy of the United States of America in the period from 1993 till 2013. It is focused on presidencies of William Jefferson Clinton, George Walker Bush and Barack Hussein Obama. My goal is to describe and review progress of economy of the USA in each presidency period and to realise how they contributed to the welfare of the USA and whether they were able to reach their objects. The first part will describe fiscal policy, its function and forms, and macroeconomic indicators in a theoretical way. The second part is practical. In the beginning of this section, there is a description of expenditures, revenues (tax system), federal budget and federal debt of the United States of America. Afterwards I describe reforms, provisions and pre-elect plans of particular presidents and analyse historical data which relate with the condition of economy of the USA. In the last part of my thesis I evaluate if the presidents reached their plans and goals and how their reforms affect the economy of the whole federation.
Compatriot activities in New York as a part of the Czech public diplomacy

The present thesis deals with activities of the Czech diaspora in New York, which constitute an important part of the public diplomacy of the Czech Republic. For a better understanding of this issue, the introduction explains the concept of public diplomacy and the current position of compatriots in public diplomacy. The thesis also analyses cooperation between the Czech Republic and its compatriots and mentions not only positive aspects of cooperation, but also problems and complications. In the United States of America there are approximately 1.8 million people who claim Czech nationality. It is the largest Czech community in the world and that is the reason why relations with compatriots in New York represent an important part of the thesis. New York is one of the traditional Czech community residences; there is a building of the Czech nation, The Bohemian National Hall, which is characterized by activities presenting the Czech Republic and its culture. Apart from the current situation the thesis also outlines the future development of cooperation between Czech compatriots in New York and the Czech Republic.
Foreign and Trade policies of the USA during Barack Obama´s presidency

Main goal of thesis is to evaluate foreign and trade policies of the United States of America during Barack Obama's presidency, using both analysis and comparison methods and to answer the question: At which key areas should U. S. foreign and trade policies aim in the future? Thesis focuses on foreign policy and its military dimension, on trade policy with particular preference programs and their meaning for the USA, multilateral trade system and last but no least on think tanks, lobbing and their influence on mentioned policies. Also whole chapter is dedicated to Transatlantic Relations.
The Meeting of Czech and American Cultures in Managerial Practices

The aim of the diploma thesis is to provide a comprehensive picture of Czech and American cultures, not only in their interaction. This picture will be the basis for learning and understanding of both cultures and their mutual differences. A detection of cultural specificities, their clarification and explanation of their causes is a fundamental concern of this thesis. The main issue of the research is to uncover cultural differences and related cultural clashes. The second aim of the diploma thesis is building a list of potential cultural clashes and final recommendations for the Czechs to know how to prevent these conflicts.
