Penitentiary and Post-Penitentiary care in the Czech Republic

Aim of my diploma thesis is to describe the system of penitentiary and post-penitentiary care in the Czech republic and determine whether and how it works link these two components in practice. This thesis consists of two parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. In the theoretical part I explain the expressions and the subjects that provide this care in our republic. I also try to clarify the purpose and the sense of this care and the relations between penitentiary and post-penitentiary care. I deal with the conception of work with defendant and convicted people, as well, and with the possibilities of work with clients in jail. I cpecify problems of this work in details. Last but not lest i mention upbriding, education and employment of people in the course of custody and imprisonment. The practical part of my diploma thesis is based on my praktice in the jailhouse Praha - Ruzyně that I manager in the course my studies. I start with guilty and convict clients there, then I mention the structure of the working team of specialist. The possibilities of the clients regarding the treatment is procedure, education and employment in this jailhouse make an important part of this diploma work. Education and employment of people within penitenciary and postpenitenciary care

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to provide the reader with the insight into penitentiary and post-penitentiary care. It tries to describe the period of custodial sentence with its possible impacts on the sentenced person and the society. It puts a special emphasis on the purpose of custodial sentence which is a successful reintegration of prisoners back into the community and mitigation of the risk of their relapse. The importance of education and employment is stressed in this context and also within the programs for convicts and within post-penitentiary care. The thesis also describes specific groups of people that tend to appear in prisons and methods employed for their care. A special emphasis is put on individual approach to prisoners. The current trend of alternative sentencing is also mentioned. The thesis paints an overall picture of the contemporary conditions of the Czech prison service, including the possibilities of education and work activities in selected prisons. For these purposes the following sources are used - scientific literature, laws and regulations of the Czech Ministry of Justice and current statistics of the Czech Prison Service. The theme of this thesis is presentation of the theoretical and practical activities of the Czech Republic Prison Service in a resocialization of convicts from the social pedagogy perspective. The theoretical part of the thesis is defined by the basic theoretical issues related to rehabilitation of prisoners, an interpretation of the legal measures, methods of educational function and activities of teaching staff involved in a re-education of prisoners. An activity treatment program of prison Kynsperk nad Ohri in terms of socio-pedagogical and convicted points of view is analyzed in the empirical part of this thesis then.

Resocialisation of persons after serving a term of imprisonment Diploma thesis discusses problem of resocialisation of persons after serving a term of imprisonment. The aim of thesis is to explain a process of resocialisation of inmates during their imprisonment and after it. Thesis also attempts to answer how effective is special treatment with inmates. The main focus is given to the ways how we try to reach resocialisaton of these persons, such as treatment programmes - especially employment of prisoners and institute of conditional release from serving a prison sentence. The final part of thesis deals with post-penitentiary care and points out huge problems disallowing successful resocialisation - indebtedness and impossibility to find a job after serving a term of imprisonment.
Problems of social integration persons after serving a prison sentence

The diploma thesis "The Problems of Social Integration after Serving a Prison Sentence"deals in theoretical part with theories of punishment and function and aim of prison sentence. In more detail attention is paid to serving a prison sentence especially programmes of treatment in theoretical part. The corrective function of imprisonment is not in the long term accomplished and there is necessity to improve the system of care for person released from prison. Thesis tries to show necessity of continuity and deepening penitentiary with post- penitentiary care. Opinions of prisoners on the life reality after release are noticed in research part of this work.

Effect of education on ability of resocialization by young prisoners

1. RESUMÉ Aim of this work was afer to effect of education on repeated criminal activity made of prisoners of age 18-26. For gears of this work I specificity triple style of education, that is mean education in functional family, in functionless family and institutional care. And effect of particular educations scope I showed by researched in prison Horní Slavkov. We can say, that young prisoners belongs to the group of prisoners, which can be somehow affected. Their preparing for return to the sociality is absolutely necessary. It is evident, that every group of young prisoners has own specifics gained through education. We can't affect this way of education, so it is important to influence on young prisoners in the execution of punishment. This influence works through programmes of treatment in the prisons. That's why I would like to appeal to create this programmes individualy especially for young prisoners. I deal with this ways of treatment on prisoners in the age 18 - 26 in the last part of this work. I offer several variations which should provide or at least increase better resocialization of young prisoners to the society and through this lower number of recidivist in this age group. Foreigns nationals interned in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis describes foreign nationals imprisoned in the Czech Republic with more detailed focus on the characteristics of the selected groups. Based on the analysis, characterization and expert examination gives a comprehensive view on this issue and to help you navigate not only the interested persons. The theoretical part focuses on the description of the Prison service of the Czech Republic as an institution, its role, structure and organization system. It also deals with the history and its evolution to the present time. It provides a comprehensive insight into the issue of foreigners in the Czech Republic, legislative regulation and crime. For purposes of this research work have been selected group of foreign nationals imprisoned in the Czech Republic, which are closer to the theoretical part, characterized, distributed and investigated. Analytical part is focused on analysis of selected data, and layout (for clarity) into several sections, which always include one area of research interest of the issue. This section is arranged graphs providing an overview on the development of individual indicators. In conclusion there is summary assessment and recommendations to individual areas of research.
Statistical analysis of resocialization care after prison release

The level of crime has to be regulated in order to prevent the crime to cause major damage to society. Therefore it is profitable to address criminal recidivism as well. Recidivism is caused by a complicated process of reintegration of people with criminal records back to society. The main goal of this thesis was to find the main factors affecting reintegration process of people after incarceration. The thesis is trying to reach the results by quantitative research, specifically examining the frequencies and dependence of categorical variables. The main factors which influence the reintegration process of people with criminal past are unemployment and indebtedness. These elements are affected by certain demographic factors. These factors also influence the type of criminal activity and the probability of criminal recidivism.
The analysis of a burden of indebted convicts

This bachelor´s thesis contains an analysis of debt burden of the convicts. Theoretical part defines and describes the system of the Prison Service in the Czech Republic, and outlines debt issues and employment of the convicts. Practical part of the thesis describes main causes of the convicts´ debts and their attitudes to this problem. Using documents analysis the actual state of prisoners´ obligations at the start of serving a prison term and after it is finished, and different ways of debt repayment are described and compared. Lastly, possible ways of more effective solution of debt burden of the convicts are suggested.
