Current questions of the Czech Republic's preparation for the entry to the Eurozone

The present work deals with problems of the euro acceptance as a single currency in the economic conditions of the Czech Republic. In the first chapter the history and development of currency systems anticipating the European Monetary Union is outlined with the focus on Western Europe. The second chapter characterises the European Economic and Monetary Union and describes the particular phases of its origin. In the third chapter it is analysed which of the 5 Maastricht criteria the Czech Republic fulfils. The fourth chapter evaluates the level of convergence between the Czech Republic and the Eurozone in the economic areas. This includes also technical, legislative and institutional aspects. The final part analyses the entire process of the euro implementation including scenario, principles and schedule of the successive steps. The advantages and disadvantages of this process are discussed and the present economic and political situation in Europe and the Czech Republic concerning the euro is evaluated.

Foreign direct investment

Thesis analyses FDI flows to 9 of new member states of European Union basicly from other member states. FDI flows are described as a result of investment incetives, economic situation, political situation and atractivity of countries. The main aim is to compare countries FDI flows based on this characteristics.

Nominal and real convergence in Visegrad group countries

Creating a stabile economic environment that is able to resist the competitive pressure at the European market was one of the main conditions for candidate countries in the integration process. In present all new member countries of the European Union are getting ready to enter the European Area, which will represent the round-off of their integration efforts. The countries of the Visegrad group, that are former centrally planned economies of the Soviet block, form quite homogeneous unit and their positions in the integration process were very similar. The main objective of my work is to provide a complex illustration of the progress made in economies of V4 group both during the integration process and over last few years after their accession to the European Union.

Sports used to be the only way to enjoy oneself and to spend free time. Today it rather represents business and an important part of all economies around the world. That is why the European community law includes the sports indirectly in three areas: - the community market of the European union, - the economic competition of the EU, - coordinated policies of the EU. The key role of the entire diploma thesis plays the decision of the European Court in the case Bosman in 1995.

The thesis identifies the role of e-business and ICT in the economy of the present European Union and their function in increasing EU's competitiveness in the world's economy. It maps and evaluates help of the public sector of the European Union for this important component of modern economy. The thesis also describes current state of e-business and ICT both in the European Union and the world and outlines their probable future development.

The competitiveness of the EU: Lisbon Strategy and the comparative profile of the member states

The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the competitiveness of the EU countries. First chapter is about the competitiveness, first theoretically, then in numbers based on the the competitiveness index of WEF and IMD and Doing Business of the Worl Bank. The second chapter describes the Lisbon Stategy and analyses the Lisbon score. The last chapter compares the European and the US economy. The conclusion contains recommendations to the next development of the competitiveness of the European union.
