The attitudes of medical doctors and other key professionals regarding opioid substitution therapy in Kazakhstan

Background A number of studies across countries have proven that the methadone maintenance program, if efficiently started and implemented, is really effective tool both for treatment of opioid dependence and harm reduction. The expansion of methadone substitution programmes in Kazakhstan may have a positive influence upon the health and social climate inside the country. The main target of this research is to survey the attitudes of medical doctors regarding opioid substitution treatment in Kazakhstan. Methods The study was composed of two surveys. Questionnaires were distributed (administered by electronic mail) to 17 centres for drug addiction treatment all over Kazakhstan. 19 medical doctors not yet providing opioid substitution treatment and 6 medical doctors enrolled in opioid substitution treatment responded to the questionnaire. Two therapists also participated this research and their responses are mentioned as well. Quantitative data were supplemented and enhanced by use of qualitative data obtained by analysis of original documents and by interviews with two key informants. Contact centre as an unwelcome neighbour

Thesis "Contact centre as an unwelcome neighbor"deals with a case of the Sananim's contact centre, that was obliged to agree with the relocation of their workplace from the area. Thesis is confronting the neighbor's resistance the centre is facing with the NIMBY concept, which is demonstrated by the analysis of interviews. Situation of the contact centre of Sananim o.s. is compared with the contact centre Progressive's Stage 5. Sources of the resistance are distinguished within the analysis by use of NIMBY typology. The most significant source of the resistance is identified to be the neighbor's resistance. Thesis describes the situation, which was caused by the resistance on different levels within typology and is also suggesting possible solutions to the resulting situation. In the final sections of the thesis, author recommends to improve the cooperation and communication between Sananim's contact centre and other contact centres in the area, adjacent borough and most importantly with their oponents. Author later recommends the realization of more extensive and deeper research, and offers several research questions and hypotheses for occasion of its realization.
Definition of the term "peer-work" in the Czech Republic with a focus on drug users.

Abroad is the method of peer work dealing with the involvement of drug users (active and retired) extended far more than in the Czech Republic. Information and data are available mainly from foreign sources, where peer work has been continuing a tradition. In the Czech Republic, this method is still not so much used, as well as is the lack of Czech professional literature on the subject. Method of peer work in the Czech Republic has not been comprehensively mapped, described and evaluated. They are organizations dealing with the involvement and employment of drug users, which usually draw infromation from foreign sources and work with their data. There is no comprehensive overview, providing information and data in this area in the Czech Republic. The target of this work is to map the use of peer work in the Czech Republic in the area of drug services. Within the sub-targets are the structure and functioning of each peer programs studying. The practical part is realized by an empirical research (research orientation) in order to get a general overview of the analysis of the problem in the form of quantitative research. The Comparison of the Image of the Contact Center Netopeer - Multi-Purpose Drug Service from the Clients', Employees'and Public's Point of View.

This thesis deals with the image factors of the Contact Center Netopeer - Multi-Purpose Drug Service Znojmo, which is one of the subsidiaries of organization called Sdružení Podané ruce, o.s. The theoretical part focuses on the gathering the information concerning the individual aspects of organization image and its following application on civil society organizations. I determine the factors, which influence a good name of the Contact Center - Netopeer from the employees', clients' and public's point of view, with the help of the qualitative research method. Research shows that the important image factors for this organization are: staff behavior during the communication with customers and clients, helpfulness, efficiency and responsibility of the staff, staff competence and professionalism, trust of customers and clients in the institute, quality of offered products, services and ideas and hygiene, cleanness and aesthetics of the institute premises.
Bio-psycho-social-spiritual model in the buprenorphine substitutional treatment

This thesis is focused on the application of holistic, bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of dependence to concrete therapeutic method, namely to the substitution treatment of persons dependent on opiate addictive substances with synthetic opioid buprenorphine. The aim is to describe the essence of BPSS model of addiction, with the specifics of opiate addiction, and the treatment system based on it. Also, to show substitution therapy as one of the most effective methods that improves quality of a dependent person's life. Further, to confirm the need for a holistic perception of substitution treatment when ersatz drug use itself is not a real chance for dependent persons, unless such treatment is accompanied by psychosocial and spiritual therapeutic approach. Another objective is to map the risk that, in practice, the substitution therapy initiation in a holistic range brings in the context of contemporary reality. The work will consider approach bases to opiate addicts, especially the optics of lifelong abstinence versus controlled use, leading to better quality of dependent person's life. Harm reduction services in the Czech republic and abroad.

Bachelor thesis on Harm reduction services in the Czech Republic and abroad theme is focused on methods to reduce the risk of drug addicts. It deals with the description of the various services offered in the Czech Republic, Great Britain, United States of America and the Russian Federation. In the thesis explains the concept of harm reduction, principles, strategies and attitudes. I deal with the concept of prevention and drugs that are inherent to components of harm reduction. The work is led by a theoretical order to compare services offering methods to reduce risk across the different countries. Describes various services such as needle and syringe exchange, testing for STDs , condom distribution and other ways to reduce risks in the drug scene. In the Czech Republic these services take place most often in areas of contact centers, where social workers caring for clients with drug addictions who are currently unable or unwilling to abstain or in their natural environment by the outreach services. In this work, I tried to take into account the findings of work in the KC Prevent , o.s. , KC Kotec, o.s. , Doléčovací zařízení Prevent , o.s. , Adiktologická poradna Prevent , o.s.
